My wife and I were moving to new home to downsize and were reasonably happy with Spectrum wi fi and Tv except it was too expensive. We called to order same Spectrum service at new home. We are both older (77 and 71)and both have hearing deficiencies. Salesman kept trying to sell us Apple TV. We told him we already had one, did not like it and hadn't used it in over two years
plus we didn't need it because we have a
Smart TV and do our streaming with that so NO THANKS, we did not want one. We were also considering switching our cell phones from Verizon to Spectrum because we had seen their ads indicating we could save a lot of money. Salesman said I would have to buy new phone due to age of my phone. I said if I have to get new one, I want IPhone 11. He said it would be less than $500 which sounded like a good price so I said ok. When the separate packages arrived, there was an IPhone SE (Not IPhone 11) which is a CHEAP phone. NOT what I ordered. The
other package contained an Apple TV, but
I had to open both packages to find out what they were. Due to Covid virus, they said we have to install them ourselves. We never used nor activated either of them since they were not what we ordered and we sent them back to where they came from. Note: my wife has an Apple Watch that she can make and receive calls on without her IPhone. When we deducted what we paid for that, Verizon was approx same price, so there were No Savings so we didn't switch. After three or four days I finally got wi fi installed, then ordered cable box from Specrum, which was all we wanted for TV. Cable box arrived and
It took two or three days to get that set up, only to find it was not equipped with
red eye like the one at our previous home
and therefore would not work with our existing cabinet. I was told that I would have to drive to closest Spectrum Store,
(90 minute round trip)could not call them because they don't list a phone #, but IF THEY HAVE ONE WITH RED EYE, I could
swap it out. If they don't have one, I just have to keep driving over there, until they
get one in. Can you imagine such a business model? At that time I get a huge
bill and was told that since I opened the
Apple TV(to see what it was) it was not
returnable(but they have the Apple TV).
Also they had put the IPhone SE through
a 3D X-ray machine and could see some
tiny scratches so I had to pay full price for the phone too(and they have the iPhone too). We did not use or even activate the phone and did not drop it, so can only assume the scratches were there when we received it, but we didn't have a 3D
X-ray machine to see them. I called Spectrum and raised Holy Hell and after
6 or 7 phone calls got the bill reduced to
$135 even though I was told three different times the bill would be zero. I
told them that if they hadn't sent the wrong products, none of it would have happened and I don't even have the products(and don't want them) and I am
not going to pay for them. They had offered a 30 day money back guarantee, so I took all the equipment back to Store
and asked for my money back. Just received a bill from collection agency, so stay tuned. Tomorrow I am writing my Senator and Congressman and filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the State Consumer Protection Agency. No wonder Apple stock has gone up so much. They make it nearly impossible to return any thing. Apple makes some good products, but Apple TV is not one of them. Spectrum
was terrible to deal with. Avoid them if at all possible, especially when it comes to Apple products. read more
