one of the worst internet providers out there. don't get me wrong I get good and fast speeds and it does what it needs too. but, the biggest problem right now is that my Wi-Fi goes out at least once a week. if not then once every 2 weeks and it's such a headache. it doesn't go off for just a few minutes of even an hour or so it'll be off for HOURS or sometimes a whole day. just about every single time it goes out. what the hell are you guys doing over there? read more

There is something really wrong with Spectrum. I went to the local Hickory Spectrum office. I waited at front door for them to open and they did open on time. Before I was ever able to get a number from the customer service kiosk for a number to be served. I was told that that there would be an hour and a half wait to return equipment and cancel service. If I was getting new service to get a number. The Spectrum gentlemen that talked with me said that i had to take the equipment to the local ups store and they would return it for me and that he would cancel my service once the equipment was scanned, and appeared on his system at the store. This gentlemen never said i had to call and cancel. I did this on July 1st 2026 and needless to say that I received my monthly bill for July. Although it showed that I returned on July 1st. Called customer service. It took 30 mins to get the an answer and that i should have called earlier.It is unbelievable that they tried to get me to stay for less than half of my current billing amount. I have been a customer for 17 years and every time i get a tele marketer call from spectrum they say i do not qualify because I am a current customer. They constantly go up a few dollars every six month. The internet service never was as strong as i was supposedly was paying for. Over the last 6 months the internet service struggle to keep the TV going. After being point blank lied to at the Spectrum store and the procedure to return so difficult that i could never recommend Spectrum to anyone. Now they want me to pay a whole month for service that i do not have the equipment to use because they have it. My advise research every alternative and never use spectrum. They could care less about the customer. Spectrum is like so many large companies these days It is about the profit and not the customer. It just stinks to be lied to over the whole process. Continually increase bill, internet service constantly going out for no reason, and now with all the new building and "upgrades" they decide all night maintenance should happen without warning. I got an email warning about maintenance causing an outage for 8-10 hours over night AFTER the outage started. Every other upgrade has done nothing for speeds at my residence so all I get are huge fees and inconvenience. read more

He answered all my questions, helped modify my current plan saving me $25 a month without sacrificing any of my Spectrum products. This store is consistently providing the worst customer service I noticed today only 2 working and 1 was on computer for 15 minutes while people were Just waiting, even if she was working I would have at least spoken to waiting customers. Any I left after 45 minute and during that time maybe 2 customers were helped and when I left the 3rd was called so I called spectrum and when I got home my ordered and on the way xumo box #3 and received it 2 days later. I am a new customer and get my first bill after only two weeks. It is higher than I was told. I have to pay for a voice service that I will never use to get their promotional discount. When I called I was offered a free tablet or phone. I have both. People were completely courteous but not helpful. I would not recommend this company. read more

I talked to Charter about the price difference and they didn't really have an answer as to why I pay more than my friend. They gave me a discount. Then the next bill comes and it's still higher than what they said it would be. I called again and they said that they couldn't do anything about it since Charter changed their prices. Lol. Where to begin? And why can't I give negative stars? I set up first installation appointment at the end of July. After, their technician missed the window by 1/2 hour, I called the company to find out their technician would be another couple hours, so I rescheduled for September. So, no phone call to say they would be late. Second install appointment, I call after 1/2 hr after window expires. Only now to find out, my building is listed as not being service ready. Wow! Twice you allowed me to sit waiting for an appoint you KNEW you wasn't going to make. Not even the common courtesy of a phone call to say, you couldn't. Waste my time. You are unethical. If anyone has an alternative to Charter Service, you might want to explore those. I guess I will run Netflix and Hulu over my CenturyLink DSL. read more

My DVR quit working and erased everything I had saved on it. I called customer service. The representative was rude and unapologetic and offered me a refund of FOUR DOLLARS. Seriously?! I lose all of my Hallmark movies 2 days before Christmas AND I lost the entire first half of the Walking Dead season that I haven't seen yet and that's the best you can do?! I have had charter for years. 75% on demand doesnt work. When the cable goes out on internet youre directed to India where the workers do not understand one thing you are saying. They had me completely dismantling my computer and router. I asked for an American and they had no one there American. I asked for Billing, to get credit for the 48 hours I had no service, again no American to understand what I wanted. Zero stars. Don't make the mistake of signing up with Charter! Look at Charter's terrible reviews everywhere. Consumerist magazine (not-for-profit subsidiary of Consumer Reports) calls Charter the "worst company in America." It's no wonder Charter went bankrupt a few years ago. This sleazy firm's business practices include: - cutting your satellite cable, then insisting that customer fight with Charter's 3rd party unlicensed contractor instead of honestly owning up to their mistake and correcting it. - moving your first bill due date ahead after first bill, without prior notification (told this is a "standard" Charter procedure on 2nd bill) - insisting that customers wait 45 days (unbelievable but true) for Charter's Autopay system to take effect, then warning that double payments may occur when customer attempts to make a one-time payment prior to the interim due date (as a safety measure) - moving from CSR agents in South Carolina to the Phillipines, where they lie to customers by claiming healthy account status with zero problems and confirming Autopay sign up weeks ago, then cutting off all services including (Emergency 911) shortly thereafter, without prior notice - migrating from helpful humans to speak with or chat online (about no-service issues) to worthless automated systems - poor no-service reliability I really wanted to love Charter. Our credit history is well above 700 and we always pay bills on time. But after several serious attempts to cooperate with Charter, acting as a good customer to straighten out their billing errors, all of our attempts have been futile. I recommend that prospective customers view the 800+ complaints about Charter on another website, plus other sites, before wasting your time. Horrible customer service support. I called and it took 5 day's with me calling back before I could get anyone to give me an answer. Still wasn't answered. Only that they have made their decision where to put a huge green power box in my front yard! They could of put it at the side of our property but NO right in the front so everyone can see it. This is the most horrendous company to deal with. After having 5 techs including one supervisor out here to repair my ever failing internet, I spent 3 hours on multiple calls including supervisors being promised I would receive a call from dispatch within the hour. They had set an 8 am service call this morning but never showed up. When I called for the 4th time the CR Kristin, was argumentative and dishonest about my communications. Said my ticket was opened on July 16, when in fact, that was the previous ticket. When I asked to end the call and be put to the survey she refused. She knew it would not be good and I never got to do the survey on her performance. I have now re-arranged 1 night and one morning of work for not even as much as a courtesy call. I have had Charter for years, but am now looking for a new provider. Internet constantly goes down, which is all I currently have. When you call Charter, Customer Service Reps from that are not local, are very cordial and polite. The folks that work at the Hickory office, well rude is the only word to describe these folks. They pretty much have the monopoly on broadband in this area, but I am willing to switch to DSL with slower speeds, rather than deal with the rude folks at the office. Switching tomorrow, and the only satisfaction that I've gotten, was that I was able to do this review, while still using them as a service provider. read more

I agree with Bob S, a big fat ZERO stars!!!! They said they were here to improve our internet connection. However, all they did was disconnect our outside antenna and then claim that they did not do anything to our equipment. They came back out 3 days later with the first guy that messed things up and another (senior) rep. That day they claimed that we were never really receiving the channels with our antenna but it was channels through their cable. What a bunch of BS! Can't wait for some competition in our area - like Windstream or Time Warner.... Charter is so jacked up they think that they can do anything and charge anything because they are the only choice we have. If I could give Charter Communications LESS than one star, that's what it would be! I have tried for three years to get Charter to bring their internet to my home. In 2012, they sent a surveyor out to look out my address. Both of my next door neighbors currently have Charter installed in their homes. In 2012, I was told it would cost $1,045.00 to bring the internet to my home (235 feet). I checked again with them 2 weeks ago in person and their rep told me they would survey it again since it had been that long. I was called by the rep the next day and told it looked like they were going to install at my home and would call back when she had more information. Never heard back, so I called the direct number she gave me here in Hickory and left 2 messages - never heard back until today I received a call from their 888 number saying that my home was not serviceable and if I wanted the internet, it would be $7,800 for them to install! I waited 2 weeks to hear back and am very frustrated for the wasted time as my daughter needs the internet NOW for school classes. I don't understand how running a line 235 feet would cost that much! I don't believe they ever intended to look at it again! Very unprofessional and I agree with others here, Charter needs competition in this area!!!!!! read more
