I typically avoid Best Buy in Hickory, but my experience today was GREAT! I knowingly purchased a used item that was listed in Very Good condition. When I got it home it was totally NOT usable. So, back in the box, back to Best Buy. I was preparing myself to be a little nasty if needed to get my money back. Victoria not only did NOT give me a hassle to return the item, but she also looked on her computer and offered to have a NEW item shipped direct to my home for no additional charge. I was so surprised it took me a few seconds to accept her offer. Totally because of her I actually went back home and ordered more merchandise from Best Buy to be shipped to my home. PSA: First off I would give negative stars if I could. DO NOT GO HERE(there are multiple other places completely capable & will not try to steal money from you in the hickory location)-- I recommend union square computers-- My husband brought my laptop that I purchased less than a year ago from this Best Buy to the geek squad location in hickory nc where I was told it would cost 100$ for a diagnostic test that they would have to perform in the back as they don't have the ability to do in front of house and that they would have to keep my computer over night. I was told that this was likely a software issue AS WELL AS a hardware issue when he looked at my computer screen, but there was no way it could be determined until a diagnostic test was performed. After looking laptop up and finding out it was still under warranty, my husband asked what that would cover. He was told that HP would cover hardware damage only. When asked if we could just send the computer in to HP to diagnose since he couldn't say which issue it was in order to save money as this laptop was only 500$, my husband was told that it was DEFINITELY a software issue that HP wouldn't cover that he knew this for certain and they needed to keep it to diagnose. After questioning how he knew that after being told originally he couldn't tell me what it was bc it had to be diagnosed first, the tech responded that by looking at it he could just tell it was not just hardware and HP wouldn't cover it. We decided to take it elsewhere to the place I recommended where they actually did a diagnostic test for free that showed it was in fact a hardware issue that HP would cover bc it was still under warranty. They also explained how to contact HP to send it off. it was a hardware issue HP IS COVERING FOR FREE with warranty. Needless to say the computer tech at geek squad is incompetent and only there to take your money. They also try to sell you a BS warranty that's 250$ that they say covers all devices WHICH DOES NOT COVER ALL DEVICES bc they get a bonus for selling. I will not be returning and you should never take any device here as they clearly hire incompetent greedy individuals. Kindness goes a long way, maybe attempt that next time a customer walks in. read more

I ordered two monitors for my sons new computers four days ago. The app said they would be here today (Sunday). The app never updated and no one at Best Buy would answer the phone. So, we loaded up and drove all the way down there just to find out, "I don't know why they would tell you Sunday. We don't get trucks on Sundays". So, tomorrow we get to drive all the way back and maybe they'll be there. Why does it take four or five days to get something from 40 miles away? called to make an appt. to take my printer to the geeksquad for them to look at it they said sure . i made appt. for friday june 12. i asked if someone could come out to my car with buggy to get it they said sure. got there and they said no they could not come out to get it. i have neurothy and daibetes and could not walk far. they did not care. took printer in and waited 20 minutes past my appt. time and finally they called me. he said they didnt work on printers. i had printer in buggy and box of new ink. must have left ink in buggy or on geeks desk. called the store in hickory and they would not asswer phone. someone with an accent answered. he said the stores dont answer phones any more. great. good customer service. i am 74 and worked 40 years in customer service. what joke now. stephen L. read more

I purchased a samsung 55 inch TV, back around Thanksgiving 2024. I was told they would price match any other stores price until Jan. 14, 2025. I found the same TV at Sams Club for $82.00 less on Dec. 21, 2024. I showed the Best Buy store Manager the price on my phone. The store Manager being the Stupid Son Of A Bitch that he was, would not match the price. I returned the TV to the store and will never buy anything from that store again. This Best Buy has nothing I'm looking for every time I go. The camera selection is awful, no quality tripods, no camera lenses. They don't even restock any good quality earbuds. The associates that "helped" me today were condescending and rude. I tried repeatedly to call the store and speak with a manager but could not get an answer on the phone. I was shocked by how rude the team members were to me, the young man especially. I'm a low tech person that just needed a charging cord. The team member was texting on his phone the entire time and repeatedly spoke down to me and became impatient as well. I guess it must be the Best Buy culture to act that way towards customers. I plan to go directly to the really nice people at the Apple store in the future even though it's a drive. The customer service here is awful , and I was overcharged for a replacement watchband, the sign said it was $3.99 on sale and it rang up $7.99 and I told the "cashier" who obviously doesn't care about customer satisfaction, just stated it was $7.99 and didn't do anything to verify whether the computer or I was correct. I also asked for help regarding the product, asking if it would fit the watch I brought in with me. Since I live across town. And they stated they did not know anything about the watch brand. If you work at Best Buy, you should know at least a basic level of information about technology items since that's ALL they sell. The watch band I purchased did not fit my watch, so I have to return item and this is very frustrating. If I could give zero stars I would. Went in looking to spend possibly up to $300 for a universal remote. I walked into the department and noticed about 4-5 Best Buy employees standing around talking. Recently went and asked a question and the man in the front gave us an attitude because we asked a question about the online pre orders. They always have bad service. First time I've ever been to this Best Buy and it was a pleasant experience. I came to get an adapter for the car for my phone. When entering the store, the associates were all busy helping customers, so I browsed around, looking at gaming computer accessories and the Apple watches (I've been wanting upgrade them forever now). When one associate was available they approached me and helped me with my questions in finding the item I needed and then answering any others I had ready during my browsing. I purchased a Laptop from Bestbuy. A week after I purchased it the screen cracked in the top left corner. I took it back to the store in Hickory, NC. I was told buy the manager that the Geek Squad said that the crack was caused by picking it up incorrectly. She said they do not take back broken merchandise. I explained that the product should be able to handle being picked up on any corner with out breaking. She said they would be happy to fix it for $85 plus the cost of repairs. Most techs not familiar with this technology, but the techs at this Best Buy were very knowledgeable. I wanted to purchase the cheapest model receiver available just to get sound again. While making the purchase associate said they had last years best Sony available for &20 more than my purchase, a $420 savings.
