Mentione everything to staff at the start what i actually want from them and main reason why i am there. Met 3-4 different staff members during this time and at the end the last one staff memeber said she cannot give anything in writting .. There was alot of staff in the store but seems staff need more training about the services they can offer. I wish staff should have mention this to me at the start so i would not waste my 1 hour there and find an alternative place who actually have more trainned staff. Complete waste of time.

Found one in Dalkey. Gill Opticians were absolutely amazing. From the time I entered their establishment the customer service was excellent and huge selection of high quality designer frames Also they use Zeiss lenses which are the best. If you need glasses that will last you for long time I would recommend Gill Opticians to anyone. You won't be disappointed

Pleasant doctor - unpleasant receptionist…read more The doctor was grand, but the receptionist had a bit of an attitude problem. I arrived at 20 minutes to closing time to get a driver license eye exam. There was no queue and the doctor was available immediately. The exam was 20 Euro. The first thing I noticed was that the receptionist was annoyed that I was there. It wasn't that close to closing time and the eye exam would only take a few minutes. I offered to leave if it was too close to shutting time, but the doctor said nonsense it only takes a few minutes. The receptionist maintained her lemon-sucking expression. The exam was indeed quick. About 10 minutes. I found out I had 20/15 vision and I got my paper stamped for the government. He didn't rush, even though it was close to closing. He checked my eyes, did the chart, checked my side vision, asked the standard form of questions, and was polite and personable. Pros: The doctor seemed able, was very polite, non-rushed, and friendly. Cons: The receptionist was rude. 20 Euros is a bit dear for the service.

That is until the wonderful Mary offered to put contacts in for me while I picked them out (yes I haven't got contacts... can't quite bring myself to put something in my eye!) Suddenly it was all so much easier! Of course they also have the technical expertise and look after your optical health very well. They lose a star for their frame selection. The shop isn't that big so this has to be limited. They usually have quite a nice array of designer frames which reflect what's in fashion, but sometimes you want something different at it's not there. They also usually do a deal on a second pair so they manage to be competitive with the bigger chains. If you want a good service where your eyes are looked after rather than a large conveyor belt opticians experiences this is a good place to go.

I had to leave, get a new form and reapply for another appt which was also weeks away. When I left I called the optician to tell them and the woman who answered the phone was beyond rude. I know the issue wasn't her fault per se but when you work in a customer facing job you sometimes have to apologise for things that aren't your fault. She was really dismissive of me and eventually I told her that I would have appreciated an apology as it was a big inconvenience having taken time off work to go to which she replied "I'll let the optician know." Oh. Right. I'll never go back here!

Picking out new glasses is roundabout the most confusing thing you can ever do, they all look the…read moresame. Luckily, here they do it for you. They cycle through 20 odd pairs with a certain frustration and then suddenly (gasp) "they're perfect!" and you leave under the impression that your glasses are somehow 'cool'. Within a day you'll have forgotten what your old pair looked like, and have trouble explaining the new pair without looking at them. But the friendly staff here have reassured you that not only are you not a nerd, but you're actually a bit of a legend. Great shop.

There is something quite charming about this old school style opticians. The people that work there are very warm and friendly. It differed from my specsavers experience in that It didn't have that cattle market feel. The lady Kathy who tested my eyes was lovely and the gent that helped me pick my glasses too. I highly recommend going to this shop. Very good service and it felt that the people working there genuinely cared.

Teahan Optometrists kindly took me same day where I was looked after by Nikki Teahan. She helped me with injured eye and it felt that i was looked after by experienced optometrist. The glasses have repeatedly broken and gotten loose. Each time, they fixed it for free! I was expecting to pay upwards of €100 to fix my horribly mangled set of frames, but all free! Donal O Malley, upstairs, is my optician, and does an excellent job. He has more than 30 years optician experience, and has seen every issue before. While I could be given a stronger prescription, and while other opticians have suggested I need a stronger one, he tells me that my eyes will just degrade faster if I do. So a small bit of discomfort now for much bigger benefits later, boom.
