had 1 star to post This isn't about the employees this is for MANAGEMENT who clearly cannot manage their workplace. I am writing for the poor employees now yes I had an appointment and I was left over 30 mins near an hour later! It was appreciated and kind of the employees to apologise but THEY SHOULD NOT! It should've been management. You could see how over worked they were or couldn't even interact or try help each other like head less chickens running around cleaning their mess and I say today was the only day ! Half of them are yawning or look like they don't want to be there ! I knew someone who worked there a good while ago and I used to try give benefit of doubt but clearly can't after this today. The work environment is not acceptable I wouldn't blame them if they wanted to hand in their notices!! There is not enough staff funny how it seems very few people working and expected to everything and feel good about their job! This is one place I won't be getting services from not because of the employees but because the management and owners who clearly cannot manage and take care of their staff. I made a joke and the poor girl couldn't even tell she was so confused trying to focus and apologised ? I said you've no need to apologise just looked like you needed a laugh she thanked me and appreciated it and said we all do it's been a day . And yet still polite and respectful to all customers saying good bye or take care. Funny at one stage while waiting we all discussed about it ! Clearly place needs to be closed down we would rather been a store with excellent customer service and staff happy not stressed ! Plenty of issues glasses, tests,contacts, miss information I could go on. I hope this clearly changes because you cannot keep wasting people times it's ridiculous no other employment I have been in have I ever come across this ! Do better and do not give and complain to your employees because this is on you Specsavers Dawson Street! No one there are complaints try to shut customers up but you cannot blame us for being annoyed ! Best of luck employees yes it is hard but I recommend to GET OUT ! Praise for Jade, Davy, Katelyn, Rebecca in Specsavers Dawson street store : This morning I called as I had been told by my friend about your stores glasses. I called a few weeks ago and didn't have the best experience. But these amazing staff members really take a prize ! This morning I had called, I was a bit nervous because the last time the girl on the phone was rude, but Jade kindly introduced herself and the store and how could she help me. I asked a few questions about the lens for glasses and prsi questions, offers I heard and had no issue helping me and I mentioned I had a frame I liked and if I could re-use it! She asked me if I'd like to check if I am eligible for Prsi (I asked these same questions before and wasn't sure how I was going to be spoken to) I apologised it took me about 10 minutes or so but she reassured me and said no worries take your time. Which put me at ease! We checked and I am fully qualified and I had an eye test but I'll be due one around Christmas and she said we would be happy to help book your appointment for when you are available to come into store or if your more comfortable I can online whichever works for me and my schedule. I thanked her for her generosity and will definitely be asking for her when I decide to book! Although I didn't buy anything today, I went on my lunch break I was kindly greeted by Davy at the front desk and said he would find something to help me, either take seat in the waiting area or have a browse. Then I met Katelyn, I loved her attitude and you can tell she cares for her job! She helped me with options and found styles/colours I wouldn't have guessed suited me! She apologised as someone I believe her boss maybe had looked for her and would return back to help. I had a more look and Rebecca came over to me and asked if I was okay or needed help with anything, I thanked her I was being looked after then a few minutes later I asked her some questions and she was so knowledgeable and sweet explained everything to me which really helped! She excused herself as she was asked for. I didn't mind I knew it was very busy and everyone was so respectful! Katelyn came back and I discussed my conversation with Rebecca. You can tell the staff enjoyed working together and have a lovely atmosphere! We went through prices and all my million questions poor girl, and not once did she turn away or looked annoyed, no issue nor fuss! I thanked her for her time and I took all the notes she gave and information for when I can come back into store. I am so pleased and grateful for this experience and definitely restored my faith, I judged too quick and shouldn't have! Thank you to everyone who helped and accommodated me. You all are gold stars! I've mastered the experience of going to Specsavers. Just run straight past all of the sales people, shoot downstairs and buy your contacts without anyone interfering. Otherwise, you're looking at waiting, sitting, queuing, waiting and putting up with some salepeople who don't always know what they're doing. Daily contacts are just €100 for a 3 month supply (not bad) and of course they do have their famous 2 for 1 deal, now on designer glasses, not just the nerdy no-name ones, so that's a treat. read more

I've never gone to Specsavers before because I always felt guilty, imagining that somewhere my bastion of an optician - who has always taken care of my eyes from her little store in Tipperary - would be weeping real tears. Just this week I decided to stop being so hard on myself and go to Specsavers for some new glasses. As a caveat, I'm reviewing the store on its own merits and not the chain, but I do love a little anecdote. Anyhoo, I went here with 200 euro in my pocket, but I already decided that given the deal on the eye test and 2 for 1 on glasses it would come up a little above a 100 euro. Fools and there money are soon parted, and this was certainly the case here, but first to the service. I like efficiency but I don't like to feel I am a product on a conveyor belt, which certainly is how it felt that day. I was rushed to the optician who whizzed through the eye test, albeit with great joviality and charm, and then whisked back to reception to pick out frames. Two for one is not the best deal either as I found out, as most of the glasses were made of wretched plastic. Found two pairs which seemed less like glasses made for kids, although not entirely happy with them. Was asked whether I wanted anti-reflection coating on both, and quickly said yes, being a little confused as to what was included in two for one deal. Ended up paying an extra 45 each on the glasses, and felt slightly duped into it. Was also fitted for glasses and told that one pair, which I had picked out in desperation due to lack of choice, was a perfect fit. They were almost cutting off circulation on the side of my head, but I decided that I could tweak them myself having worn glasses for years. Returned the next day and was given glasses back, asked to fit them on etc, and immediately assistant knew the glasses were crushing my head. Stretched them a little wider, and problem practically resolved. So kudos to this staff member! Won't be going to this particular Specsavers store again though, as really don't like the mechanised process or the lack of diligent care by staff who are obviously under huge pressure. Back to the optician in Tipperary I guess! read more

Specsavers... where to begin... such mixed feelings... Walk in and you'll spot more than a few sales reps milling around in dark blue suits which is a bit overkill if you ask me. Then it's hit or miss. Some are very knowledgeable and helpful, others seem like they're still being trained. Enter the 'special of the day': With your prescription, purchase one pair of frames at 89 euro or more and the second is free! But, is it REALLY 'special' if it's promoted all the time...? Makes one want to stop and take a closer look (pun intended). As for service, at times there is a bit of a wait, in spite of the over-staffed establishment, even if you have an appointment. On the upside, one of the many staff members was having an 'off' day on my initial visit; she apologized and gave me a coupon to take an additional 20 euro off my future purchase. Now THAT'S a 'special'. So, in the end, I got my peepers equipped with two sets of reading glasses for only 69 euro. However, I have to say, the selection of frames was a little sparce and unattractive. Nonetheless, all is 'easy on the eyes' now and it was relatively painless. Must check out other optical service providers before I can honestly say "Should have gone to Specsavers"... but my eyes are grateful at the moment and thats what counts! read more

I have to say I was impressed with my visit to specsavers. I'd gone to my usual optician for all the testing but they just didn't have any frames that didn't make me look like Dame Edna or a hipster. After two visits there trying to sort it out, I took my prescription to somewhere with many more frames. Now I am quite blind, and my own optician will often put in contact lenses for me while I pick out glasses. in specsavers they get around this another way. There's a handy little camera and screen thing, where you can take up to 4 shots of yourself with different frames on and compare. Anyways after dithering for a bit, I asked someone to help me pick out frames and she was really great. Eventually we found some, and she went through my lens options and the deal. I was also seen then by their in house optician who took some measurements and made sure the frames were right - he also gave me good advice about options. All in all the service was great. They have a lab on site, so if I'd wanted to recycle my own frames I could have (once they ordered in the lenses). The end price came to about half what I would have paid in my regular opticians, and my specs were in less than a week later. I was really impressed by them. read more

As my friend Adam puts it 'How else would people know that I'm bookish', how else indeed, and it seems that until my eyesight begins to wane I'm forced to be confused with the rest of the unwashed dolts. If you need a new eyeglasses then this large chain is a no-nonsense way to get the job done. They say their price plans are clear, I'm not so sure, but it does have an abundance of options meaning you'll probably find what you're looking for. I got a flyer through my door offering two for one on glasses worth €89 euro or more. That's a pretty good deal, and just around the time I needed new glasses too, so off I went to specsavers. A ten euro eye-test and four hours later I was €99 lighter and marginally better sighted. And now that I was seeing things a little clearer something occurred to me; In the decade(ish) I've been wearing glasses, I've only ever owned two pairs. And, having never even lost a pair, the total damage done to them has amounted to no more than a single cracked lens. My prior form with glasses, then, shows that I'm pretty safe. So why in the hell did I need to buy a spare pair?! I've never been so conclusively outed as a victim of marketing. For the record, I bought the same frames twice in just a slightly different colour. There's a fantastic selection of frames here, from cheap Specsaver-brand glasses to designer frames from the likes of Hugo Boss or Calvin Klein. And all frames are 2 for the price of one, as those incessant ads have drilled into our national psyche. They do eye testing downstairs, which can be used for Drivers License approval. read more

I have had to visit Specsavers several times since last year initially for an eye test and subsequently for a contact lens test. I have to say that every member of staff have given me excellent service and attention. I also bought two pair of glasses from Specsavers, it saved me a lot of money and the assistant was very helpful on helping me find the best frame. You can also use a digital machine to find the best pair of frames for you. Overall a great and valued experience. This optician is highly recommended. read more

I generally find a good opticians to be near impossible to find. I finally thought I found one as the staff were pleasant and the optician was seriously helpful. Everything was great until I went to pay. I was told over the phone there was a special price for contact lens fittings before 11am. I went to pay and was charged full price. I kindly said to the staff member that it is slightly cheaper and I was told no your wrong. I told her the phone conversation I had the previous week about the special price. She continued to tell me I was wrong. This continued for 5 mins until another staff stepped in and told me I was right. The ignorant staff member didnt even know how to operate the cash register. Several weeks later I phoned to say I wasnt happy with the contact lens and could they order me in the original set as I wasnt happy with the ones I was trying. I dont think its unreasonable considering a 3 months supply of contacts is €160 with my prescription and I wanted to make sure that they were comfortable. I asked to be called at specific time as I was in lectures. I got a call back from some staff member(not at the time I asked for) with an attitude telling me that it was last set to try and that I had to order contacts. I didnt bother going back for the trial. Whats the point of dealing with this store if you have to deal with an obnoxious staff member every time. read more

After a eye exam from Specsavers I actually purchased glasses else where as they were quite expensive here. Unfortunately, it turned out the prescription given was completely wrong, after another eye test elsewhere it was corrected and I had to re-purchase new glasses and ended up €250 out of pocket for glasses that I couldn't wear! I Would recommend a local optician that cares about people and values their customer and not an outfit like this where you are just another euro figure on the production line! read more

I arrived in Dublin after discovering I left my disposable contact lenses at home, I was in the city to run the Half Marathon the thought of running half blind was not an option so off I went phone in hand looking for an optician who could possibly sell me some. Luckily I had a copy of my prescription on my phone. I knew it was going to be a tough task as it was the end of the day on a Saturday!! Right enough one after the other each Optician was either too busy or not interested in my dilemma. I finally arrived at specsavers on Graften street and headed straight to the contact lense dept, I explained my situation and although they said it was V unlikely they had my prescription they would have a look. The most wonderful Lady who works there could not have been more helpful she was fantastic and really did go out of her way to help me, she eventually found some lenses and handed them to me..... if felt like Christmas.... All I can say is thank you and would def recommend specsavers on Graften street what fantastic staff they have there. read more
