Ironically the two consultants I met first, had been trained in Specsavers and to be honest they were lovely, but the owner/optician who did the final consultation was awful.I felt pushed into getting a pair of bi focal glasses with top end frames and they really were no fit for purpose. I returned in a couple of weeks to say that I just could not see the computer properly and I had stated that this was my main reason for needing the glasses. The owner dismissed me and said I just needed to get used to them. A year later, I am almost a thousand euro down,the expensive frames broke and the glasses are useless to me.Never again !

Okay, I'm getting carried away here, they really do have some really nice frames but they're all top drawer stuff, most of them are titanium, and all of them are on the pricey side. The staff couldn't be nicer, even when a scruff like me, obviously not wearing glasses, walks in for a poke about I was greeted cordially. So, if I ever need glasses, and have a little more change than usual jingling about in my pocket, I'll hit MacNally Opticians.

I am writing for the poor employees now yes I had an appointment and I was left over 30 mins near an hour later! It was appreciated and kind of the employees to apologise but THEY SHOULD NOT! It should've been management. You could see how over worked they were or couldn't even interact or try help each other like head less chickens running around cleaning their mess and I say today was the only day ! Half of them are yawning or look like they don't want to be there ! I knew someone who worked there a good while ago and I used to try give benefit of doubt but clearly can't after this today. The work environment is not acceptable I wouldn't blame them if they wanted to hand in their notices!! There is not enough staff funny how it seems very few people working and expected to everything and feel good about their job! This is one place I won't be getting services from not because of the employees but because the management and owners who clearly cannot manage and take care of their staff. I made a joke and the poor girl couldn't even tell she was so confused trying to focus and apologised ? I said you've no need to apologise just looked like you needed a laugh she thanked me and appreciated it and said we all do it's been a day . And yet still polite and respectful to all customers saying good bye or take care. Funny at one stage while waiting we all discussed about it ! Clearly place needs to be closed down we would rather been a store with excellent customer service and staff happy not stressed ! Plenty of issues glasses, tests,contacts, miss information I could go on. I hope this clearly changes because you cannot keep wasting people times it's ridiculous no other employment I have been in have I ever come across this ! Do better and do not give and complain to your employees because this is on you Specsavers Dawson Street! No one there are complaints try to shut customers up but you cannot blame us for being annoyed ! Best of luck employees yes it is hard but I recommend to GET OUT ! I called a few weeks ago and didn't have the best experience. But these amazing staff members really take a prize ! This morning I had called, I was a bit nervous because the last time the girl on the phone was rude, but Jade kindly introduced herself and the store and how could she help me. I asked a few questions about the lens for glasses and prsi questions, offers I heard and had no issue helping me and I mentioned I had a frame I liked and if I could re-use it! She asked me if I'd like to check if I am eligible for Prsi (I asked these same questions before and wasn't sure how I was going to be spoken to) I apologised it took me about 10 minutes or so but she reassured me and said no worries take your time. Which put me at ease! We checked and I am fully qualified and I had an eye test but I'll be due one around Christmas and she said we would be happy to help book your appointment for when you are available to come into store or if your more comfortable I can online whichever works for me and my schedule. I thanked her for her generosity and will definitely be asking for her when I decide to book! Although I didn't buy anything today, I went on my lunch break I was kindly greeted by Davy at the front desk and said he would find something to help me, either take seat in the waiting area or have a browse. Then I met Katelyn, I loved her attitude and you can tell she cares for her job! She helped me with options and found styles/colours I wouldn't have guessed suited me! She apologised as someone I believe her boss maybe had looked for her and would return back to help. I had a more look and Rebecca came over to me and asked if I was okay or needed help with anything, I thanked her I was being looked after then a few minutes later I asked her some questions and she was so knowledgeable and sweet explained everything to me which really helped! She excused herself as she was asked for. I didn't mind I knew it was very busy and everyone was so respectful! Katelyn came back and I discussed my conversation with Rebecca. You can tell the staff enjoyed working together and have a lovely atmosphere! We went through prices and all my million questions poor girl, and not once did she turn away or looked annoyed, no issue nor fuss! I thanked her for her time and I took all the notes she gave and information for when I can come back into store. I am so pleased and grateful for this experience and definitely restored my faith, I judged too quick and shouldn't have! Thank you to everyone who helped and accommodated me. You all are gold stars! Found Deirdre quite arrogant. I decided to give another try a week later. Knocked on the door and was greeted by Donal. Was told once again to make an appointment to view any frames. I was given an email. Went home & emailed Optica Shop. Four days have passed & no reply. On a fifth day decided to go back to the shop as it is on my way home from work and inquired regarding my appointment. Was told by Donal that email received, however, Deirdre has more than 30 emails to reply to so I should wait. After getting home, I decided to use a different email address and my middle name to see if perhaps I will get lucky However, days have passed and no reply. The only way that this shop can get 3.9 stars rating out of 5 is because they have written reviews for themselves or asked some friends to acknowledge their shop. I have never in my life come across a place with such an unprofessionalism & pure arrogance. Don't even understand why this shop is open ? Perhaps they just feel lonely and like to look at the passersby walking down Dawson Street. There is something quite charming about this old school style opticians. The people that work there are very warm and friendly. It differed from my specsavers experience in that It didn't have that cattle market feel. The lady Kathy who tested my eyes was lovely and the gent that helped me pick my glasses too. I highly recommend going to this shop. Very good service and it felt that the people working there genuinely cared.

The glasses have repeatedly broken and gotten loose. Each time, they fixed it for free! I was expecting to pay upwards of €100 to fix my horribly mangled set of frames, but all free! Donal O Malley, upstairs, is my optician, and does an excellent job. He has more than 30 years optician experience, and has seen every issue before. While I could be given a stronger prescription, and while other opticians have suggested I need a stronger one, he tells me that my eyes will just degrade faster if I do. So a small bit of discomfort now for much bigger benefits later, boom.

Pleasant doctor - unpleasant receptionist…read more The doctor was grand, but the receptionist had a bit of an attitude problem. I arrived at 20 minutes to closing time to get a driver license eye exam. There was no queue and the doctor was available immediately. The exam was 20 Euro. The first thing I noticed was that the receptionist was annoyed that I was there. It wasn't that close to closing time and the eye exam would only take a few minutes. I offered to leave if it was too close to shutting time, but the doctor said nonsense it only takes a few minutes. The receptionist maintained her lemon-sucking expression. The exam was indeed quick. About 10 minutes. I found out I had 20/15 vision and I got my paper stamped for the government. He didn't rush, even though it was close to closing. He checked my eyes, did the chart, checked my side vision, asked the standard form of questions, and was polite and personable. Pros: The doctor seemed able, was very polite, non-rushed, and friendly. Cons: The receptionist was rude. 20 Euros is a bit dear for the service.

She spent 145euro on replacing the lenses of her sunglasses due to them being of sentimental value. She thus entrusted sunglasses.ie to look after them. She was quoted one week for her glasses with new lenses to be ready and after three weeks she called to be informed they were unsure of their whereabouts. Upon tracking down her sunglasses, they found nothing had been done with them and they were left sitting there for three weeks! She called into the shop twice and phoned again a couple of times more and eventually after over a month, she got them back. This was during summer and due to her getting migraines from light, she of course had to buy new sunglasses to wear in the meantime. When I finally collected the sunglasses for her as soon as they were ready, the gentleman we were told was the manager handed me back the sunglasses with dirty lenses! He asked me were they ok and I had to tell him I didn't know as I couldn't see what was scratches and what was smudges. They weren't even in a box, just a small piece of thin foam with an elastic band tight around them. I told the manager I was unhappy at how stressed my mother had been by trying to get her glasses back as she had even asked by this point to have them back whatever way they were currently, she just wanted them back. The manager said he didn't know anything about the case, despite my mother having explained it on the phone to him earlier that day. He was completely unapologetic and the other staff also behaved unapologetically and rudely. No refund was offered, not even a discount for all of the distress and on top of this, when I sent an email of complaint they didn't even have the decency to respond! One of the worst customer service experienced I have ever encountered. Truly awful.

You'll find mostly designer and high-end shades here.
