If shopping is the new religion then Dundrum is the Vatican of the Southside. It opened to much excitement, at the height of Celtic Tiger mayhem, and it still manages to draw the crowds in spite of the fact that most of us are wading around knee-deep in recession sludge. It is massive, brightly-lit and spotlessly clean. It houses high-street and high-end fashion outlets as well as a rake of restaurants (including an intriguing sushi conveyor belt diner), a cinema complex and a theatre, The Mill. If you go there, keep an eye out for Dundrum's version of American 'mall rats' - wealthy young teens, dripping in labels who spend their Saturdays flirting and sniggering as they go from shop to cafe to restaurant. Pretty hard to miss actually! It's undeniably handy for Southsiders because it's just off the M50 and it definitely hosts an impressive range of popular shops however, at the end of the day, it is what most shopping centres are, pretty darn soulless.

christmas time :)

Dundrum Shopping Center is a really good place to shop! lots of different shops and something for everyone! You can get there all you need! Just the parking is a little complicated because the park house was soooo full and we needed to drive around for quiet a few minutes! But the price for parking is awesome! And at the moment you can go there and you will definately come in Christmas mood :) Beautiful light effects and Santa Claus is there too!

This place is gorgeous and lovely and pretty and very well designed and full of everything you could possibly imagine, well apart from unique, imaginative, one of a kind stores! But still it is a cool place to come and get all your shopping needs under the one roof. From men and women and children's fashion, shoes, bags, to department stores, to chemists, hair dressers, barbers and lots of cinemas and bars and restaurants, this place has it all!

I love this place! It has something for everybody. There's mens clothes, jewellery, bags, women's fashion, books, gifts and loads more. It is a bright open space which makes it very appealing, as it's horrible when you feel claustrophobic in a place. The layout of the centre makes it an enjoyable place to shop. There are many cafes situated throughout the centre and a main food area upstairs, so you can never go hungry with smoothies, muffins, bagels etc there to fill you up. The shops are obviously the best thing about the place. Several times I have gone there and bought my entire winter/summer wardrobe. Prices vary from shop to shop. My two favourites would be; River Island - which can clothe anyone from young teenagers to middle age women. The clothes are a little expensive but usually great quality. Penneys - This is the other extreme of the scale. Everything is so cheap in this store. I tend to buy underwear, socks and pyjamas here but they sell normal clothes too. I wouldn't be a great fan of these as they can be a bit ill-fitting, but sometimes you can find a hodden gem! They also sell really nice jewellery, not expensive at all. Other favourites would be BT2 for makeup and Bershkas and Zara for clothes. For men my dad tells me Best Menswear is very good! If you're near the centre have a look in, I can't gaurantee you'd be out any time soon though!

When you think of shopping locations in Dublin, Nutgrove is heading on the tip of your tongue. But…read moremaybe it should be if you are heading South side anytime soon and don't want to be lost in the crowds at Dundrum. Nutgrove has some of Ireland's biggest names in retail, including, Tesco, Dunnes Stores, Boots, Penny's, Hughes & Hughes, Argos, Bus Stop and Golden Discs. Not to mention the Carphone Warehouse, O2 and Vodafone. It also has lots of other cool stores to fulfill all you shopping needs like a chemist, opticians, fashion and shoe stores, jewelers, book and stationary store and arts and hobbies stores. Apart from shopping it offers lots of services like, Post Office, Halifax, ATM's, Social Welfare Office, Tax Office, Credit Union, and lots of passport photo machines! As for food, my favourite type of service, well there is enough artery clogging fast food here to satisfy the fatty in all of us, McDonald's, Burger King, Eddie Rockets, Pretzel King, India Gate Restaurant and they are in the process of building a Subway Sandwich! Yummy! There is plenty of parking and even an Eco Car Wash that you can have done whilst you shop! If you don't dive the centre is serviced by the number 16A, 17, 75 and 161 buses.

Nutgrove is a basic suburban shopping centre which gets overlooked a lot because we expect so much…read moremore from shopping centres now. And it simply doesn't compete with Dundrum or Liffey Valley or any of the more modern places. However it is a great place for grocery shopping having both a Dunnes and a Tesco and you would certainly find yourself picking up a few bits at the other shops in there such as Pennys and Clarks. It also has lots of functional things like Hairdressers, motor tax office and a nice area for lunch.
