Yall. SpecialTEA STILL slaps. I have to admit I haven't been here since pre-covid, but they've expanded and are absolutely still crushing it like they used to. Amazing menu, fresh ingredients, most everything made in house and with that special Miami mom & pops vibe. All the staff is super friendly and helpful and if you need a space to hang out and study, get some work done or get a bite to eat, yall NEED to come here to SpecialTEA.
Love their chicken pesto "panino", teas, and the tea/coffee spice rack along the side of the counter in the back. Their teas come in huge bowl-size cups that weigh too much for one hand -- definitely enough to last you throughout a 2-hour catch-up with friends, lol! The ambiance is serene, and has a tall shelf stocked with books for all you bookworms out there (like me). The service was over the top too. Definitely deserves a do-over :)
I LOVE specialTEA lounge it's THE perfect third space. 2 things I love: school and boba. This place has both of these things. The lounge has board games to play with friends, cozy couches to talk for hours, and $1.50 cookies (did I mention they close at 11)? I was dying to find a place where I can get some boba and study without having to go to a starbucks or a named business but once I found this hidden gem by FIU, I will soon become a regular. The food is really good and the service is exceptional.
I have one thing I buy at SpecialTEA and one thing only... COOKIESSSSSSSSSSS! They are the best cookies i've had in Miami and i'll fight anyone that wants to argue me. For 1.50 a cookie they are a steal. Maybe have about 4/5 flavors on rotation. But I always go for the Chocomalo and the Cookies & Cream. I usually buy a dozen and take them as gifts for friends or to gatherings. Quiet spot if you need a place to have a healthy lunch or love a cup of tea. A hidden gem:)
Love this place. Came here to do some stuff on my laptop and it was great. There is no shortage of wall ports which I was so glad about because if you can find a seat, you can find a place to charge your electronic devices. It's definitely not quiet because people hang out here whether it's to play board games or just have a coffee and chit chat. But that's every cafe. The service is amazing and the food is pretty good and affordable. Definitely fit for college students and/or people needing to get some work done. Their matcha cookies are incredible. I need to have one everytime I go. If you are going to SpecialTea alone and decide to sit at the booth, after a certain time, you are asked to move to one of the small tables to make room for parties of 2 or more. Overall, great place to hang out, have a quick meal or get some work done.
Food is always fresh and make to order :) it's a chill spot at night and day time :) I prefer nights! Service is always excellent ! If you eat in you can sit on the couch or a table or a booth :)! You can also use their WiFi :) and print :) you'll need to pay for those but it's super chill that you can do it at anytime :) I forgot to take pics of what I ate which is my favorite hunny brisket wrap :) if you're vegan this place is the go to!
Came here to meet up with friends. We were a party of four. It is a cute tea shop with plenty of comfortable sofas and booths; there's also tables if you want to bring your laptop and do work. I had a chai tea latte which was a bit over-brewed. The service however was awesome. The staff was very friendly. We had to wait a bit long for our drinks and the server offer us chocolate chip cookies to make up for the wait. I would come here again.
Wow!! I've been to Doral so many times and I'm just now finding out about this place. So many vegan options... thank you!!! The coco curry bowl is OUTSTANDING. 5 stars with a vegan matcha cookie .. I'll be back soon!

Lovely cafe atmosphere with soft music playing in the background and hum drum of machinery. It's a very dynamic space with booths, couches/low tables, bar stools, and outdoor seating. The usual crowd consist of college students and working professionals. WiFi and electrical outlets are available, so it's great for studying. I ordered: Hot Caffe mocha substituted milk for oat milk, $4.25 It was really frothy and just the perfect amount of sweetness. Tastes heavenly, like floating clouds on my tongue! Carolina dreaming bowl, $8 Great portion size, fresh and healthy mix of rice/spinach/meat. Brisket was a little dry but nothing BBQ sauce couldn't fix. Would love to come back and try out other menu items! I went 9/18/19 and there is construction going on so it was very loud, which is why I took off 1 Star, but once it's finished it'll be a 5 star in my book. read more

I've been coming here in my early college days (Go Panthers!) ever since it had started and I'm proud of it's progress! Even the menu had went through changes over the years. My go-to drink back then was their Grasshopper frappe with soy milk to cut down on the sweetness. But lately I've been enjoying their lattes and never had a bad one! Food-wise, you can come here at any time of day and enjoy their sandwiches (panino, the singular term of panini -- learned about that concept from here lol), wraps, salads, etc. for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Even their snacks and baked goods are pretty good -- so far I'm hooked on their matcha chocolate chip cookies. I've been wanting to try their matcha marble bread but it's always out whenever I come so the hunt still continues! The only thing preventing me from giving this full stars is the space. The booths are only reserved for parties greater than two people, which I see makes sense, but then that already limits single parties to seating. There is a comfy couch where you can play games and that's awesome but from a student's perspective, it isn't study-friendly if you need table-space. But I guess that's what Green Library is for across the street, lol. I come here to eat and run, and on occasion to catch up with friends -- it's a great place for that! And their hours extended to close at 12 am so that's suuuuuuper convenient to grab a late night bite after dance classes on campus. Also, Yelpers, you get a check-in perk! So don't forget to check in to snag your freeb! Thanks for the college memories, SpecialTea! So good I still come in, post-grad! read more

I love this spot, the vibe and how cozy it is! The food is great, my go-to items are the ay chihuahua wrap, Farmer's Harvest salad, or Honey Brisket panini. Other items off their menu are good as well, those are just my personal preference. And don't even get me started on the vegan matcha cookies. So. Good. No matter what you order, those are definitely a must and the perfect treat to end a great meal. In terms of teas, I can't say I've tried many but I do love their Arnoldo Palmer (I usually opt for it made with their daily steep). If you're coming for lunch, as I usually do, I recommend ordering for pick up. It's a popular spot but there isn't a lot of seating, especially since this a good spot for students to study. Its located in a small plaza so parking may sometimes be an issue, but I've gone often and this has only been an issue once. A couple of other things to mention about this place that add to its charm, they have board games available and a book shelf where you can take a book as long as you bring one. read more

If your not from the area you wouldn't be able to know exactly where this place is, my friend who does live in the area showed me and I'm glad. It's a nice hole in the wall type place good for local students, you can study and enjoy a nice little meal while you get some work done. You order at the counter and wait for them to bring you the food stuff. read more
Most notable thing: tiny place! There was so many people on a sunday afternoon and no places ro sot and enjoy the food unfortunately but thats good for them and bad for me ;). When we walked in we were greated and I explained that it was our first time here. The lovely person at the register went ahead and explained some of their teas, her favorites, and recommended some food options. I went ahead with an iced green tea and their coconut tofu warp. Ughhh that warp was soooo good!!! I was making a mess everywhere trying to take it all in, it was delicious! Must try! But unfortunetely and most importantly the tea didnt hit the spot for me. I felt like it was too water and I wasnt able to taste the true flavor of the tea. I wont give up on them so easy though, Ill try to go back for a tea repeat to confirm. None the less- relaxing atmosphere for work (if youre lucky to grab a spot) and great food! read more

The best tea house in town, hands down. Their tea selection is huge, the food (especially the Coco Curry wrap) is extraordinary and reasonably priced, the staff is amazing, and the atmosphere is cozy -- perfect for long study sessions right before finals week, especially since they're open 'till midnight most days. And yes, there's free Wi-Fi. If you're like me and just can't focus at home, this place is a godsend. Between their caffeine-packed teas (although they have plenty of caffeine-free blends as well), the public printer, and general good vibes, this place is a haven for anyone cramming for a major exam. The service is absolutely top notch; you'll have a tough time finding a place that treats its customers better. The staff is full of personality and always seems happy to see you, and in the rare case they make a mistake with your order, they make sure it's corrected promptly and that you leave the building happy. The only minor issue with the place is, as a cafe near a major university, the place is usually packed, and with limited seating, you can sometimes have trouble finding a place to sit down (especially if you're bringing a group). However, since the place is in the process of expanding, that won't be an issue for very long. 10/10, would drink tea here again. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE: The staff that we talked was very chill, down to earth, and really interested in tea and especially coffee! The rest of the staff seemed really nice and very hardworking in my opinion. The setting of this place is nice, chill, a good place to study, jam,etc. FOOD: Their sandwiches are brilliant! Very good and very different from other places. But what I'm most taken away from this place is their tea! I love their tea so much that we went back the next day to get more! I would highly recommend this place if you love tea/boba tea. I would definitely come back here again when I am in the area! read more

I've been going to specialTEA for years now, since they opened. It's my favorite place to drink tea and study. My boyfriend and I come here for breakfast all the time as well. They have delicious tea options that are served in a tea pot. They have a lot of vegan option which I like even though I'm not vegan. The pastries are phenomenal, and a lot of them are vegan specially the cupcakes. If you are coming for breakfast, try breakfast croissant. read more

Super cute little lounge spot! Came with my brother and sister in law (who's a raw vegan), and she thought I'd love it so I said, "why not?!" It's right next to FIU (currently next to the youth fair, which has a pretty good visual of some of the rides lol). The vibe when you go inside is super loungy, very relaxing with the very spacious lime green sofas and chairs by the window. There is also a high table which is cool for working on your laptop, doing schoolwork or whatever you prefer. It definitely had a cool college vibe to it, almost like something in a movie. I ordered the pesto chicken bowl which came with chicken, pesto sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, brown rice and quinoa. I also ordered a watermelon boba green tea. My brother ordered the chicken pesto panini which is the same thing I ordered but instead inside a French baguette. My sister in law ordered a wrap and a green tea. I only tried my ordered and a bite of the panini, and they were both super delicious! That pesto gave my bowl so much flavor and just everything mixed together was just too good to even describe, you'd just have to try it for yourself, haha! My boba tea was also super yummy, I'm a huge fan of boba because I love chewing on those tapioca balls! After we finished eating we stayed in our booth and played a game of scrabble, which by the way, I completely almost forgot to mention how many board games they have. Such a variety, it's crazy! Truly love this place, whenever I'm in the SW area, definitely passing by again to get some quick bites or possibly stay and get some work done. read more

Everthing is $8.00?!@#$ really??.... really: Salad, Wraps, Paninis. Small whole in the wall, but it was such a great surprise coming into this place. Small, cozy, friendly service; what else could you ask for? Plus they give out FIU discount when you show your ID!!! This place would rock in Brickell!!! I don't even remember what I had... ahhh.... a Salad comes to mind... with blue cheese, fruit and chicken. Very good!!! everything seems very fresh! Food is made very simple. They have some sample soups when you order, stuff is pretty good. Very cool place to chill and hang out. Schedule might be a bit weird, but definitely worth a visit! specialTEA is another popular lunch spot near FIU, offering sandwiches, wraps, and bowls as well as boba, coffee, tea. I had an early lunch over the weekend, an ayChihuahua bowl that was filling and delicious. This time I thought the service wasn't ideal - I was accidentally charged for Boba in my tea, then given a free cookie to make up for it. We didn't receive 2 items our group expected (the complimentary cookie and a lemonade). I guess they were busy opening for the day since it didn't take much time to get it after we reminded someone. It's quiet right when they open. Your chances of getting a booth to sit down and study is much higher. It's convenient that there are outlets under the booth, and free Wifi. The couch plus free games makes this a fun hangout...as long as there's space! You can also order online for take out. read more

This place is definitely special - their food choices are delicious but I would definitely recommend trying the coco-curry Panini with their coconut lassi sauce! Yummy. I've tried all their boba flavors but my main addiction is the frozen boba creme - taro flavor- with whipped cream! So delicious perfectly blended and just the right amount of bubbles. Great place to get some coffee and chat with friends! My friend from FIU recommended this place for coffee since we were in the area so I stopped by. Parking A good amount of spots available on a weekday afternoon. The plaza seems to have a lot of shops, but doesn't seem like theres enough parking for all the customers for all the stores. Lots of items to choose from on the menu. I decided to go with the caramel dream blended drink which was so good on a hot day! Although it was a lot sweeter than I expected though. The cafe was pretty busy with friends chatting and getting work done. Seems like this place can get busy pretty quickly so you probably have to get lucky to find a seat or come early. read more
Searching for a healthy light lunch in the Westchester area, a friend and I landed at the Special Tea Lounge. We reviewed some pretty positive yelp reviews and were ready and eager to eat!! The restaurant is a decent size with booths, sofas, and a couple of outdoor tables and they also advertisevorganic and locally grown ingredients. Teas are the speciality here as you'll find a wide selection of different teas and a self selection area near the counter. Food was on our minds though as we browsed through the menu and discovered how most items were available 4 ways; in a baguette, bowl, panini or salad. The Tapenade Toast with mozzarella and olives was delicious with the fresh hot pressed baguette making all the difference. The chicken bacon ranch baguette and the Hunny Brisket spinach wrap were our other choices and were each equally delicious with the freshness of the bread making all the difference again. Would definitely like return to sample some of the other sandwich options, some more Tapanade Toast and perhaps some Boba Tea. read more
I LOVE this hidden gem of a place! In an area of very limited great food options, specialTEA lounge, stands out. They have tons of coffee and tea options, and some really delicious food options. Great place for vegans and vegetarians as all the sandwiches can have TVP (textured vegetable protein) in place of the meat. As a vegetarian, the ay chihuahua! is my favorite!! I have to say, the service really stands out here too. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful in helping you to decide what to order for drinks and/or food. I've also had a few incidents now where my coffee or tea was taking longer than expected or they made an error and therefore had to remake it. Even though I wasn't remotely concerned or had even complained about it, the staff is proactively apologetic and offers a cookie to make up for the time. That is top notch customer service! The only downfall here is that the space is so small. Often times, you will come here and there will be no where to sit. There are a couple of booths, but a lot of students come here from FIU and will sit there for long periods of time while studying. I really wish that they could expand and become a bigger place. Other than that, I have zero complaints and will continue to frequent here for lunch. read more
I've been coming here on and off for years and I have to say that the food is always so consistent. It's located in a small strip mall across from Tamiami park with ample parking. The interior is very small, but cute and home-y. You can also find FIU students studying or playing board games. There isn't a lot of seating, but I haven't seen it as an issue when I'm there. I've tried nearly all of wraps there and can honestly say that they are all bursting with flavors and loaded with fresh ingredients. My favorite are: coco-curry, ay chihuahua, and honey brisket. There are plenty of options to choose from- you can choose panini, salad, or wraps. It's a good place for a quick lunch break if you're in the area. read more
Came here on my lunch break on a Wednesday afternoon. The venue is tucked away in a small shopping plaza. There aren't any signs to identify the location. But once inside, it's a real cool chill spot for just hanging out and grabbing something to eat and drink. I couldnt pick exactly what I wanted to eat so I chose the buffalo chicken wrap and chicken bacon wrap. Typical Portions sizes, not too small or big. The chicken bacon ranch was definitely my favorite of the two. They did honor the free bag of chips with a check in from yelp. Prices were a little on the upper end for a wrap. Over all it was a decent experience. Would come back again to try another wrap. read more

I've been to this spot several times and I absolutely love it! At first I had trouble finding the location because it is hidden but it's an amazing restaurant with a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. There is plenty of parking space outside but there isn't much seating inside, especially on a busy day. There are so many board games inside that you can play like Monopoly, Scrabble, Connect 4, etc. They also have a "take a book, leave a book" that I think is pretty cool. The food prices are a little high but it is worth it. The tea is phenomenal here and this is pretty much the main place I go for boba. I highly recommend this spot because even if you don't like tea they have smoothies, desserts, wraps, bowls, and pretty much anything you can think of. I also love how they have a bunch of different vegan cookies to choose from. Definitely check out this spot!! read more

Thanks for reaching out. Our regular size is 16oz and our large is 24oz. Regarding plastic waste, we've been using compostable corn based disposables since we opened 10 years ago. One of our primary goals is being as eco-friendly as possible.
