On a Friday, Juan stopped by to survey our gardening needs, had some helpful suggestions, and said he could get started the following Monday. His crew got right to work weeding our silver carpet grass as well as trimmimg overgrown ivy and general clean-up work around the front & backyard. We soon learned that Juan & his crew were MUCH more than a maintenance service. Because there was some extra yard-design work we had held-off on, we realized we'd better tackle it now that we had such a capable crew. We had some design ideas and Juan said 'We can absolutely do all of that deconstructed granite work, design it with bender boards, pick-up your desired plants at a nearby nursery (as well as some gravel for design) and plant everything. In short, within 2 days, Juan, Daniel, Jesus & crew transformed an overgrown back area into a desirable drought-tolerant destination on our property. Not only that, they took down a small concrete block wall and custom-built us some really great swinging-gate redwood doors for easy access. (At a third of the cost a vinyl door company had quoted us!) They also did so much more (including scraping & painting the side of our 10' barn) and were always ready & willing to pitch-in however we needed them with really great attitudes and super-pleasant work ethics. Not only will they be our go-to garden maintenance crew, they will also be our first call for any other yardscaping we might need done in the future. We texted them the day before yesterday, got a free estimate yesterday and then they got all of the work done today. Four guys showed up promptly around 7:30 and worked very hard cutting down half a dozen trees and probably like 20-30 bushes. All the work was done the way that we requested it and they cleaned up the branches and took all the green waste with them when they left! We are so impressed with how hard they worked and how much they were able to accomplish in 4.5 hours. I don't even think they took a break the whole time they were working, but I hope they got one in. We feel very fortunate to have found them and we look forward to hiring them again in the future.

My requirements were: - Bold and colorful - Native and drought tolerant - Automated drip irrigation The project took approximately one week. The amount of work they got done was staggering: they removed all of the old soil, rocks, and weeds and replaced it with quality soil. They laid the irrigation so that each plant has it's own little spigot. Then, the plants arrived - 100 of them! After they were planted, mulch was applied and TA-DA! Best lawn in the neighborhood!! They followed up with a few visits to check the irrigation and make sure everything was good. We are in the height of August summer now, and now at about 6 week mark, the plants are still thriving, the leaves are nice and juicy, and the flowers are growing. Almost immediately, it started to attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Beautiful, AND good for the environment!!! This was a very expensive project for me - I've been waiting to do it for 7 years! But I am delighted with the results. Hopefully I won't have to wait another 7 years to do the next project, but when I am ready, I already know exactly who to hire. I've incuded some pictures of before, during, and after. Guy shows up to my house a full hour early while I'm at work still. He gave me a 2-4pm window and comes at 1pm. 3. I try to find a time to reschedule (there's no emergency here thankfully) and he says it's 1000 dollars plus the repair to come on a Sunday. 4. Says photos will be taken down like in the past. Clearly this isn't the first time. There are a lot of companies to choose from please pick someone else.

Trees, trees, trees... love them for our shade and the beauty they provide to our homes, but they require TLC. Who can we trust and depend on to take care of our trees? I have trusted and depended on Special Tree Service to take care of all my trees for the past few years. I have several trees on the back hillside, the sides of my house, and the front planters of my house. My favorite tree cutting guy is Armando Castro from Special Tree Service. He came on time to give me an estimate for removing 3 tall trees (stump grinding and all), trimmed and shortened 7 tall trees, cleaned up the hillside which is above a 10 foot retaining wall, and demolish a big concrete planter which was filled with dirt, lots of shrubbery and a tall leaf-filled tree. Everyday, Armando and his team would arrive early in the morning focused and ready to work hard. It was super hot the 4 days that they worked here. Several days, it was over 100 degrees. I admired how Armando and his crew were buffered in clothing to withstand the heat and yet they persevered to work hard in the heat. I thank God that they all survived! Armando is a very skillful, strong, dedicated, and hardworking tree cutting guy. You would be amazed to see him go so high up a tree to trim it or to saw the tree down segments at a time. He is very respectful, courteous, and a gentle soft-spoken man. I appreciate how professional he is.... and he speaks English very well. He is an A+ in my book. Armando leads his team to complete the job perfectly. All his guys are hard workers too. They are organized and complete a certain task one by one. They clean up all their mess too. I do not know how they have the energy to work ALL day from early morning to the evening, then come back the next day ready to work hard again. Armando has the state-of-the-art equipment too. Cool stump grinding machine that he operates with ease and caution. The big chipper truck easily chomped up the branches and debris. The tools, teamwork, and dedication all make a great equation for a job well done! I am very happy with the tree cutting services that they have provided me. I have recommended them to my boyfriend who has used them as well. My boyfriend uses them for his house and his rentals...and my boyfriend recommended Special Tree Service to his brother, so Armando did his trees too! With my planter being demolished and with all the work that Armando and his team did, my neighbors were asking me what the tree guys were doing. Since my neighbors were so curious, I quickly recommended Armando to each of them to help them address their over-grown tree issues. I gave Armando and his team great praises. So, two neighbors on my right and one neighbor on my left hired Armando and his team to tackle their tree issues. They are all very happy with the great quality of service and the very reasonable fee that was charged. I'm sure Armando took care of other neighbors on my block as well, but from my home, I can smile with gratitude as I look at the four houses in a row whose trees are trimmed so nicely. It's as if Armando left his signature for the beautiful "artwork" that he left behind. Hmmm... next time, maybe I will get a referral fee!!! Well, word travels quickly when you want to share a good thing... and that's what I have done... I'm sharing a good thing with you all! Alberto and his crew did an exceptional job in removing a tree from the property where I live. The crew was hardworking and very professional. It was amazing to see the crew at work removing the tree. They were very careful in to ensure that all turned out well. I was very impressed with the clean up job that they did after they removed the tree. They left the area where the tree was and the surrounding area spotless. I checked our neighborhood blog for references, and Alberto at SPECIAL TREE SERVICE was highly recommended by many. After calling Alberto, I also recommend Alberto. Our neighbor had a giant tree that was growing over our property. It had roots that were damaging our pool. The neighbor hired Alberto to take care of the problem. He and his crew did an amazing job removing the tree/roots, and also cleaning up afterwards. They were efficient, professional, and careful. This company did a great job on my 35' tall evergreen. They carefully and safely removed all branches, ensuring that my roof was untoched. Then they took down the trunk. Once the trunck was gone, they dug out the roots and filled the hole to even out the soil. The whole process took only 2 and a half hours, and the tree was gone as if it never stood there. I shopped around ten separate tree services to remove two large trees on the rear slope behind our house. Given their location, it was tricky work. Specialty gave us the best price and got started right away. The trees are gone. I would recommend this company, and that you shop well. The crew was highly experienced in their work, and more importantly, the cleanup afterward was thorough. No debris left behind, no mess to deal with. The pricing was very fair. Tree work in general costs a lot, especially when you are doing the work with licensed professionals who are insured, use all the right equipment, and are protective of yours and others property. They did an excellent job so I called them back to trim two orange trees, a Cape honeysuckle, and an Indian Laurel ficus hedge that was 14 feet high and 50 feet in length. In addition they trimmed back a neighbor's overhanging Podocarpus hedge that ran 30 feet along my fence line. The job was completed in early March 2026. Robin, the foreman, and his crew of three completed the trimming on both occasions. Robin and his crew are conscientious and very hard working. Robin periodically would check with me to make sure I was happy with the progress and would immediately correct any tweaks I requested. Before the work Virgilio, the project/estimator manager, would thoroughly go over each tree/hedge with a green laser pointer, outlining for clear communications the cuts that would be made and would also on the day of the job would go over each cut with his crew. Virgilio is also very knowledgeable about the new residential fire codes for each home owner. I highly recommend CV Tree.

They left some trees uncut and tried to tell me that wasn't part of our deal, once i pointed it out to them in the contract it was indeed included they gave me attitude and left a mess. They called me 3 times saying the job was done and demanding payment only for me to show up and the job not even close to being done. I even talked to his workers and they stated they were not done and wouldnt be done for another day. On the phone he said "what, you think I'm just going to run off with the money if you pay me early?" Who in their right mind would pay the final balance before the job even being complete. Once I stated I will not be paying him the final payment until the job is complete he just hung up on me. Very unprofessional owners, stay away!

After talking with other companies, Royal Tree came in significantly cheaper so they got the work! Scheduling was easy and worked well with the day I work from home. I got my invoice ahead of time (same day Victor came and quoted the work) Communication was great. When I texted, texts came back quickly. Victor paid close attention to my instructions during the estimate meeting and his team did a great job not just scalping the jacaranda but leaving some green on it so it wasn't as bare as other services have done in the past. He wanted my opinion again on one of the branches before doing the work. His team even ripped out the remaining roots of an old pomegranate tree we had removed years ago but kept coming back. When the job was done, he had me come check it all out to make sure everything met my expectations. His crew was nice enough to clear out a bunch of old fence pieces that were laying on the side yard as part of their clean up though I would say, my only note is that there were still a lot of very small branch pieces left on the front yard so a double check when cleaning up would be helpful. Finally found a tree service I will use with good work and honest prices that is local to my neighborhood. I saved Victor's contact info in my phone and will be calling Royal Tree Service for future jobs!

It would have taken several weeks of filling our single green bin to clear everything from our yard, so we called Royal Tree Service to see if they could assist. It was a Saturday, but Victor answered the call right away. Even though it was a much smaller job than they normally deal with, he was quick to quote a reasonable price and had a team to us within the hour. The two men who arrived were polite, professional, and efficient. They cleared everything quickly and left our yard incredibly tidy. We would definitely use Royal Tree Service again and highly recommend!
