Now, as an amateur baker myself, I'd like to think I know my cupcakes. I bake from the Hummingbird Bakery books, and they always turn out fantastic. Having visited said bakery myself and got some dee-licious cakes, I can say that they are the best so far, but closely contended by this lovely little delight. The shop itself can seat a couple of tables of people. I am yet to sit in, but will do so one day for sure, as they sell Spanish hot chocolate that smells awesome. They have trays of different cakes every day. We sampled some marshmallow cupcakes, which, I have to say, are sweet beyond description, but bloody fabulous. You could easily share one between two and be satisfied (although I didn't, and was satisfied moreso). I just love everything about the place. I had no time to bake for visitors coming around today so I just went up and bought a box of 9 mini cupcakes, bite sized sponge topped with a peak of butter cream icing dyed vibrant shades of turquoise and pink, sprinkled with iridescent glitter. Gorgeous, cute as buttons, and went down a treat with the guests. The cupcakes are around £2.25 and the mini ones can be bought for £7.50 for a box of 9. Pricey perhaps, but in my opinion, you can never put a price on a good cake.

Pies, rolls, cakes, scones, etc and they make birthday and wedding cakes to order. The same ladies have worked there since I was little and they are all very helpful. The shop is spotless. I think anyone who uses this shop has their favourite things. Mine are onion pies and the samll apple pies that they sell. I am also partial to a bit of domino cake. My favourite is the steak bake and the sausage roll, but they sell rolls, pies, cakes, potato scones etc, in fact, almost any kind of bakery goods that you could imagine. They also sell tea, coffee and soup. They bake a lot of the goods on the premises and make up sandwiches etc. The shop is spotless and the staff are friendly and helpful. It can get very busy so it is better to get there as early as you can. There is never anything left by early afternoon, because it is so reasonably priced.

I had a small wedding but wanted something a little different. Owner could not have been more helpful and made me a one tier cake as well as pink iced cup cakes and hand made chocolate cakes to match. These were not an item he sold but made them especially for me. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone as staff were wonderful and cakes were delicious.

There was a huge portion of delicious soft beef. The mash was creamy and yummy. All in all, it was one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. We then shared a Banana sticky toffee pudding as we were too full to have one each. The sponge was lovely and soft and the bananas were caramelised on top. They are desperately trying to make Motherwell modern, and so this isn't just a bakers, it's a patisserie. It is essentially the exact same as it used to be when I was a kid, except the chairs are tall and chrome and everything is slick and modern. The cakes are sooo good, we actually boast a lot of amazing cake shops in Motherwell, and this is no exception. They can be a bit pricey, but gorgeous and a real treat. The sausage rolls are yummy, if a little greasy, but you're kidding yourself if you think they would ever be healthy! Could not believe the distances I travelled, how many times my sis In law went round and round roundabouts seeking out hidden cake shops on the search for thee ONE lol, to come back to the one on my doorstep so to speak! Delightfully well displayed cakes here, all shapes, designs, colours, sizes! The cakes are on display all round the shop and their is also a centre display, I have no idea of how many cakes are on show, plenty!! And if you have a wee peek up on top of the display cases you can sometimes see the cakes due to be picked up! Feel like it is an extra wee treat, the designs are amazing! Their is also folders filled with a huge selection of cakes and they are all so reasonable in price!
