Independent scrapbook stores are few and far between. None in my hometown, so when visiting Salem…read moreover spring break I made a point to stop into this wonderful scrapbook store. What's so wonderful about this place? I think the first thing that comes to mind is the owner, Christy Wood who introduced herself to me and my children when we entered the store, shook my hand. Gave us an overview of the store, pointing here and there at various things that were worth pointing out. In addition to Christy, another very helpful young lady was working that day and pointed me in the direction of several items that were on my list. So, great staff at Runaway. I was on a quest for paper. Great selection of paper in racks, plus in bins in the back of the store. The majority of the paper is a $1 a sheet. That's easy enough to keep track of. Endless embellishment options. Plus lots of other scrapbooking "necessities". There is also this great selection of journals, or what they refer to as altered books. I'm not going to be able to describe them in order to do them justice, but good news is that they offer a class that show you how to make them. Plus, lots of other classes are offered. They've been in business for over three years and I think that speaks pretty highly of them given the decline of independent scrapbook stores. Nice store, well organized, lots and lots to look at. A great find and will definitely be back next time we are passing through.
