We circled a lot looking for spots, trying to get our bearings. It wasn't until after circling for a while that we called the spa and they said valet was included in our service. No one told us that when we were booking. And no one told us that like it would be like arriving at Disney World to try and find a parking spot, the valet was included... but if you wait in line you'll get stuck there for 30 mins. I'm sure this isn't every time but the day before? These things you should know. My massage therapist, Nickeisha, was very attentive and friendly however I was not impressed with the facilities. I didn't appear that they had a lot of business even though they said they had been very busy. We only ever saw one other customer, briefly. The relaxation room was rather sterile. I'm used to beautiful decorating and light refreshments supplied. For the price, I think they should be providing more than room temperature, shortie water bottles. My spa at home is in an urban area, and yet costs $50 less per hour and provides: cold cucumber- and fruit-infused water, a tea/coffee or chai drink station, a small cookie variety tray, granola dispenser and then they come in to check on you once you've gone into the relaxation room to see if you'd like to have a glass of wine or champagne. The room is decorated attractively with a Tv playing relaxing spa-like scenes and long flowing curtains that provide some sense of privacy and relaxation in the dimly lit room along with quality music. This relaxation room at Mt. Airy looked sterile, like a hospital room and no music. The music during my massage was laughably cheeseball. I made the therapist knowingly chuckle when I told her it sounded like a mix between music back in the day in the Kmart restaurant and let's call it bad "racy" videos with its corny synth beats. Surely you can afford ASCAP fees to pay for something decent?? Even AI could produce better. But don't be cheap. Support musicians. Pay the annual fee. Back in the locker room, the pickled smell of casino cigarette smoke lingers lightly in the air. What I mentioned it to staff, they said they're fully aware and basically there was nothing being done about it. When I'm coming for a health retreat, why would I want to fill my lungs with a carcinogen? Seriously. I understand that the Mount Airy casino is a different owner and your power may be limited on that front, but at minimum you have every ability to run multiple air purifiers so that your guests have a better experience. There's really no excuse for all of this other than poor management. I have my doubts that an owner or management team allows things like this to slide is ever going to read this review, so maybe this is just for those that care and need air purification, I strongly recommend the filter-free Smart air purifier Nuwave OxyPure ZERO

Originally I was planning on giving 2 stars for this review and recommending against the elements…read morespa for any spa or massage needs. Upon arrival the signage for the spa is non existent I ended up behind the main hotel and wandering hallways until I finally reached the front desk. The front desk staff directed me downstairs and to the double glass doors marked as the elements spa. Upon arriving there were two women behind the desk. One a thinner darker haired woman who was just arriving and the other an older dark haired woman with glasses. I have to say the woman in glasses was not very pleasant for someone at a front desk she was very pushy and had a snarky attitude when I asked if there was a sauna as it was my first time ever here. She responded it's an additional fee since you're not a hotel guest. As well as my friend who joined my spa day had even worse attitude from her saying she was booked for an afternoon appointment had confirmation but when checking in the same woman said we don't have your appointment confirmed on our end and were fully booked. But yet they charged my friend's card and she claimed it would be refunded tomorrow. Which I don't know what banks process a refund on the weekend. I started with a deep tissue massage. I went into what is easily the world's smallest locker room and is not ideal for use when others are trying to change or get their belongings into the small lockers that barely fit a crossbody purse. I waited for a while in the lounge area before my masseuse got me and showed me to my room. The room was nice and warm and very clean. This was probably the saddest excuse of a deep tissue massage I have ever experienced in my entire life. The woman spent more time on the other side of the room doing who knows what then actually massaging me. Most of the time she was putting a hot towel on my body or just brushing her hands over the blankets on me. Not to mention she stopped earlier than the time I paid for. Next I was brought to the foot soaking station in which my feet were soaked in barely warm water when epsom salt and essential oils. They give you some granola and a towel to snack on. This was honestly not enjoyable. My next appointment was not until early afternoon so I let the front desk know I was leaving and will return later. Upon returning a different girl was at the front desk who was younger and extremely pleasant to deal with. I opted for the mud body treatment and Nadine was phenomenal! She is the only reason for this higher rating. Four stars solely for her! She was personable made sure I was comfortable and talked about the entire process step by step. My skin feels absolutely wonderful and I would return solely to see her and that is it.
