My husband gifted me a Spavia Day Spa massage for Mother's Day earlier this year and I decided now was finally the time to use it! Please don't let the online scheduling portal detour you from enjoying the luxury and superior customer service Spavia has to offer. I wouldn't even bother trying to book an appointment online if you're a first time guest - just call! Per other Yelpers, I booked with John because I enjoy deep tissue and apparently he is great (spoiler alert: HE IS THE BEST!!). Heads up though that he is booked weeks in advance, and yes, he is worth the wait! Upon arrival you are greeted with a warm neck pillow while you fill out a simple new guest form. Standard questions like "where is your pain generally located" etc. As an avid massage receiver, I've never been asked "what music do you prefer during your massage" or "what scent would you like?" The customization they offer is top notch and I appreciated the options. Once your form has been completed, you're taken back to the immaculate locker room and provided with a robe and sandals. This robe...WOW. It was probably the most lush piece of clothing I've ever placed upon my body. I wish they sold them at the spa because I would've purchased immediately with zero buyers remorse. You are shown a locker to place your belongings in with a lock, so you don't have to worry about leaving your purse/jewelry while you enjoy your chosen service(s). There is also a restroom and shower. Once changed, you migrate to the waiting area where water and tea is provided if you'd like. Okay, now to the best part, the massage... FIVE STARS. John was extremely professional, listened to my areas of concern and the 60 minutes felt like two hours. He was very meticulous and the pressure was exactly what I wanted, firm and deep. If you like firm, book with John. I can't rave enough about him!! Overall experience exceeded my expectations and upon check out I booked another massage with John and a facial. The therapy staff was friendly and did a nice job. I got multiple facials (hydroderms) here at Spavia, however didn't see results that were advertised by staff. The facial itself felt great, the waiting room was nice and quiet. There was one day where the women's dressing area smelled of sewer which was unsettling before going into a spa experience. It was after this that I decided to cancel my membership. Reaching out to the site, there was a requirement that I had to stay a member for a certain amount of months before canceling, so I did. They made it more difficult than a gym membership to cancel. I wanted to share with others: USE your credits otherwise they're gone once you terminate contract. I was a couple of days out of my canceled contract and lost that previous months unused credit. The company's main focus is to gain memberships and require you stay there for so many months without the option of canceling when you want. Therapy staff was nice. Loved loved loved my massage. My husband and I gave each other the gift of a couples massage for Christmas. It was the first massage for me in several years (since around 2010!) and every muscle was talking. The vibe in Spavia is relaxing and calm. You'd never believe it's in a strip shopping center. Fluffy towels, showers if needed (great if you're coming post work or workout), cozy slippers and more. Stopped in last Thursday to get a gift card for my daughter, who is a cancer patient and who had had a particularly bad week. Bought the gift card and then inquired about her doing a package on the upcoming weekend. Nope, no package appointments available. Okay, that's on me, should have asked beforehand. But imagine my shock when they told me they couldn't accommodate her at all for ANY service on the upcoming weekend-which is the exact reason O bought the gift card! Asked for a refund, said they have to talk to their manager. Had to leave and go to another spa and get another get card so she could have services on the weekend. Never heard from Spavia, so I called yesterday and was assured that my issue was a "high priority" for the manager. Never heard back from them. Will now dispute with my credit card company. I've been here a few times and surprised I haven't left a review sooner. Of all the visits, the best massage to date was today with Sarah. She had the pressure I needed and it hurt so good! She gave a lot of tips for stretching and maintenance and was simply amazing working out right spots and knots. I only wish my session was longer! The ladies up front are all smiles and very attentive. On my last two visits they didn't have enough warm neck towels to provide though. As someone who has frequented Spavia for over 10 years, we've always enjoyed everything about Spavia. The people, the atmosphere, the location in West Plano. My wife recently purchased a membership and got us massages on September 15. My masseuse was Chelsy (or Chelsea?). Everything started fine, until a few minutes in when she kept telling me to relax and to move my arms a certain way or to relax. Ok no problem, I am tense at times, and extremely ticklish. (Both of which was told to her ahead of time) The constant critique and telling me to move my body to better fit her started increasing to once every 30 seconds. She would just stop the massage, pause, make a comment, and then maybe continue for another 30 seconds. I was the opposite of relaxed. I'm the one getting a massage and you're telling me I'm laying there wrong? I was a little puzzled and frazzled. The massage (and criticisms) continued for 30 minutes and then I turned onto my back. It didn't get any better - just everything I did (laying there on my back) got a quip from her about how I was laying there wrong. She massaged my neck and told me I need to look a certain way. On and on and on. I've never had anyone, at any massage place, here in Dallas or in any of our trips to destinations & resorts, just criticize and grate on me trying to relax while getting a massage. It finally got to the point where she literally just stopped massaging and said I need to relax, even though I was as relaxed as I could be. The final straw was when she kept trying to move my arm in a very unnatural way. I don't think Chelsy understands physical anatomy or tight muscles. Finally I just said "Stop, you're asking me to try to do something that I can't physically do." She got up, said "Ok fine, here is your robe", proceeded to slam open the door, then shout out loud at the top of her lungs "Jesus F***ing Christ" and then slam the door closed. I was absolutely livid at that point. I got dressed and went out to the front, where the receptionist asked how it was, and I said it was the worst massage I ever had. Sarcastically, she said "Yea right." and then I basically unloaded on the worst massage of all time. She got really red faced and embarrassed and apologized, but then had the nerve to say "Yea, Chelsy isn't for everyone." Which means she clearly has had complaints lodged against her, which Spavia continues to ignore. Case in point - read Yelp and Google Reviews for the West Plano location. Clearly, there are around 10 (or more) reviews talking about just how bad and rude Chelsy was during their experience. Yet, she's still here, because she is for a specific type of person. Who is this specific type of person - a crash test dummy? After some time to reflect, how I (and others) felt after our massage from Chelsy was that she treated us like we were new dogs at an obedience school. Yes, that bad. Like we don't know how to function or do anything properly. I can't figure out how else to describe the worst massage I've ever had. But worse yet, I can't figure out how Spavia continues to defend her despite what appears to be many, many complaints. The spa here is nice. The massages are hit or miss, I've had some that are 8/10 and others that are 2/10. I do find for a 60 min massage they never last more than 50 mins, they are always cutting you short. However, my biggest complaint is with scheduling. I pay for a monthly membership and it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to use. The Saturday and Sunday appointments book 5-6 weeks out. And while they tell you that you can "cancel your membership anytime and your points don't expire!" What they don't tell you is any past points/massages you have accumulated- as soon as you cancel you can't use those. They CANNOT be used after you cancel your membership. So you are basically throwing money away that you can't use since it is IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment. My advice- book one off appointments when you can get them and pay full price, do NOT sign up for the monthly membership. read more

I ordered a spa treatment package as a gift. The recipient never received the gift or note I wrote from Spavia. The email was not in their inbox or spam folder. I emailed Spavia for them to resend. They declined. I asked for a refund. They also declined. Their response was that I should email it myself. What started as an attempt to do something special for someone has now turned into a credit card dispute. I would not use them for gift cards or e-gift cards. I was also very disappointed at the poor response from them to rectify the problem. All they needed to do was send an email. read more

If I can communicate one thing it is this: Do not sign up for the monthly membership. Do not give this business a debit or credit card to keep on file. Pay for your service and then check your credit/debit card carefully for weeks to months to make sure there are not charges that are "honest mistakes." Please look at the numerous reviews involving this location and a handful of others in DFW that appear to be owned by the same person. Mixed with some reviews about great massages you will notice a theme involving improper charges, rude staff members and many people that leave the place they went to relax very upset. In this most recent example, II purchased my wife a gift card at some point in the past for a birthday or Mother's Day or insert your favorite reason to receive a gift card here. She used this card for a long period of time because it was a gift card with a significant balance. When she notices today that months ago instead of taking the monthly membership fee off the gift card balance it is instead being charged to her credit card she of course is confident this will be cleared up if she simply calls the pleasant staff to discuss the error. I just happen to be in the same room when she calls them on speaker phone so I heard every single word exchanged. She then contacts this location and she is told by 2 polite young ladies that there is "nothing they can do" about these past charges but they will be happy to correct it now. It's the same line we have all heard before from a business that makes what they assure us is a simple error and they are happy to fix it now that we noticed their error. Of course the first 2 employees she spoke with had no idea how this could have occurred. This discussion went on long enough to get the attention of the manager because she is the 3rd person to get on the phone with us. She suddenly has information that had not been shared with other staff members regarding a system or computer upgrade (or something else that did not happen) the exact same month this error started happening monthly into perpetuity. Giving her the benefit of the doubt my wife asks that the credit card on file be removed so this mistake would be impossible in the future. This led to a long discussion that is essentially what she believes is the most polite way to say no. It involves her mentioning the 'Wellness Contract" my wife signed which sounds super official and super good for you. In reality when a business mentions a contract you signed as the reason we cannot have your credit card removed due to their mistake for 5 months it's not related to your wellness. It is in fact related to the condescension and arrogance of someone who has decided not to give you even 1 extra month to use the credits you have remaining for messages. Especially if you do something as unconscionable as removing your credit card after they overcharged you for months and were going to continue the "mistake" forever if you did not take the time to review your credit card bill. I went back and looked and this section seems to have been left out of the Wellness Contract. I'm sure we signed a please overcharge us and hope we won't notice contract too I just don't happen to have it in front of me. So in conclusion, DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS A CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD FOR THEM TO CHARGE ANYTHING. I understand that the cool kids will probably consider all of the above TLDR but hopefully they will notice the part about them screwing you and then smiling as they mention the Wellness contract. Check your bank balances and credit card charges ladies and gentlemen. I suspect we are only one in a long line of undistinguished customers that this has happened to of course. And it's not their fault because we have to have upgrades to our computer system on a regular basis right? I wonder if these rogue upgrades ever benefit the customer? I'm pretty confident they do not. Husbands look somewhere else for your gift cards to give to your wife or your girlfriend or both. This will cause you additional stress not less. Probably not near as much as having a wife and girlfriend at the same time but more stress is the opposite of what you are trying to achieve so spend your money anywhere else. read more

The girl at the front desk seemed as confused as I was, handed me sheets to fill out with no pen, no clipboard. I am so happy a friend of mine suggested I try Spavia. It is right in my neighborhood and was easy to make an online appointment. I arrived 15 min early and filled out a form on their iPad. I was immediately given a warm neck wrap. Their changing room is a nice size with lockers and private areas to change.Robes and slippers are provided. Then off to the relaxing room! It was wonderful. It is difficult to make appointments with their online system and at least one of my appointments wasn't honored though I had received a confirmation. I don't recommend a membership because they make it heard to cancel (I had to go through my bank to cancel) and I left with 5 monthly credits unused that I couldn't schedule to my convenience. They refused to refuind my $450+ or let me transfer them to a friend. Also, one sign of poor management is the turnover. Several great staff left after I'd seen them a time or two. Aside from her not providing me with the list of products I could purchase for my face she was absolutely amazing. I have never experienced bad customer service at a spa before. Until this one. First off, my friend and I were promised $20 off our first visit. When we arrived they said that wasn't going to be possible since they didn't realize it was only certain days of the week for certain massages. My friend and I were disappointed but didn't make a big deal out of it. We arrived at 1:50 (10 min before the massage) we did our paperwork and by 2:10 we were getting walked to the back locker/shower/bathroom area. There was some confusion with the lockers as they weren't ready for us. But then turned out the girl was giving us the wrong lockers so we had to switch out. After that the lady (who was very nice) gave us a run down of how everything works, where things are, where to go after changing, etc. My friend and I finally got a chance to change and get to the zen area where our massage therapists pick us up from. Mind you all this locker, run down, changing process took a good 15 min. By the time we're in our room is was 2:25, so our massages started at around 2:30. We had signed up for a 100 min massage but were disappointed when the massage ended at 3:40 sharp. Only 70 minutes. The other 30 min weren't given to us. When my friend and I went to the register we asked for an accommodation in price since we didn't receive the full service. We were told it was policy that they couldn't change that for us. I proceeded to tell them it wasn't fair for us to pay that much. And we kept being told that the appointment was from 2:00-3:50. And because we got to the back at 2:30 they had to stop at 3:40. None of it made sense. I proceeded to ask if changing time and all that counted toward the 100 minutes. She said no. But none of that was communicated to us. They were so chill in setting us up without regard that apparently it was taking our time. And also without thinking to tell us "oh hey! By the way your time is ticking so get back there as soon as possible!" They instead said, "take your time and if you want sit and relax in the zen sitting area. Your ladies will pick you up from there." I have gone to many spas and every spa starts the time the minute you walk into the retreat area. Needless to say, they were unwilling to work with us. No price accommodations, except I brought back the whole $20 issue from the beginning, but that was an issue on its own, nothing to do with our main concern of shorter service than expected. Oh! And the manager had the nerve to tell us we were at the locker station at 2, insinuating we took 30 minutes back there. But later on she changed her story saying were in the back at 1:55... Girl! I was gonna sit there and argue, but I was already so un-relaxed by the whole situation I just wanted to leave. The massage was good, but the way things were handled really took away from the experience as a whole. I didn't have a great first massage, customer service had been spotty, etc. Yesterday, everything got turned around for me by Madison (what a wonderful first impression she makes) and the manager on duty (Felicia). They listened to my issues, changed everything around, and I had a terrific experience. I had a wonderful facial with Marcy...one of the best I've ever had. She is a gem of an aesthetician. One of the best things about Felicia was her ability to take my opinions/desires for treatments and not take it as an affront to anyone on staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my massage experience from the snuggley soft robe, to toasty warm table, and Nikki's perfect pressure. There was absolutely no pressure however, or even mention, of their subscription memberships. At other establishments, I've encountered hard-sales pitches and recommendations for massage packages while still on the table. I truly appreciated them keeping my relaxation their top priority. My boyfriend has been working stressfully to get a promotion (which he got!) so to celebrate, I wanted us to get a stress relieving couple's massage. I shopped around the area and a friend that is a member suggested we try this place out and we were not disappointed!! Making the appointment was a easy and they explained what to expect and answered questions I had. We got to the spa about 20 minutes before our scheduled time to fill out paperwork. I loved that we got to choose the music, the scent of our lotion, and how much conversation we wanted during our massage. Anna at the front was very kind and welcoming. She took me back to the lady's changing area and told my boyfriend she would take him after. She explained to me where to go, what to do, and offered me something to drink. The facility was very clean and seemed a little small but didn't bother me too much since there wasn't a lot of people there at that moment. The relaxation room was so cute and was equipped with books and coloring books which was a nice touch. We were taken back to the couples room by our technicians and they consulted with us before we began. I can't remember their names but they were both amazing!! We felt so relaxed after our time was done. They gave us water at the end and let us go back to the relaxation room and invited us to stay as long as we liked. They also gave us cupcakes to celebrate my boyfriend's promotion which was a nice little surprise! The only things that we didn't necessarily like, but did not feel was necessary to dock stars for-- we wanted to be in the relaxation room together before our massage but theirs men's and women's relaxation rooms were separate (understandably so). Also, while filling out the forms in the beginning, my boyfriend and I both wanted to do an add on service (foot treatment for him and a scalp treatment for me) which Anna said they had extra time to do after but I never received scalp treatment and my boyfriend said his foot treatment felt a little rushed but they didn't charge us for either of the services so it was fine. Absolutely love Spavia! I have recommended friends and coworkers to try this spa out and they all rave about it as well. It's a nice place with good people and fantastic service. I have been a member for a little over a year now and have had no issues. The front desk staff is very nice and can book your appointments quickly. They are also able to point you in the right massage if you have any questions. I love coming in for my monthly massage - it's always fantastic and I feel like soft butter when I leave. The bathroom/changing room is very clean, with multiple changing stalls and a nice shower for those that need to rinse off. If you are needing some relaxation, I love going to Shelby. My recent appointment was a let down because of a personal reason I'm not willing to disclose, but Katherine and management knows. Katherine provided a replacement of an essential massage and I was all for it. After multiple phone calls, I was charged 4x. Two was tip, one was a scalp massage that was in replacement of getting an essential massage and the other was for an enhancement that I received in their Nov red envelope specials. I received a refund for, I believe, the enhancement, but haven't received it for the scalp massage. I have been a loyal customer for so long and I was open to the idea of suspending my account, but after numerous calls and a salty rep, I decided it was time to close the door. read more

I have been twice now- first visit with my hubby for a couples massage and facials. Second visit for a prenatal massage. I just plain like this place. It's really nice but not pretentious. Virginia did my prenatal massage and it was just fabulous. Loved it. Worth every cent. I wasn't sure what to expect but she clearly knew how to handle a super preggo lady! Things I love- scent options, nice changing area, the beds are warmed, each staff member I have dealt with has been lovely. It is not as stiff and formal as some other places in the area. That's why I have come here twice. My husband loved his massage and his first ever facial. Things I would change- I don't like these membership things and don't like feeling marketed after a massage. We recently had a poor experience and the owner, Stephanie Pearson, reached out immediately to see why and what she could do to fix it. I explained what happened and then never got a response back. What was the point of reaching out to begin with? We did a couple massage and the whole experience was really nice. The cupcake at the end was a huge surprise. Our room was nice and quiet and I really like how you get to pick what scent you want and what you want to listen to. They have lockers for you to store your stuff in when you change into your robe and sandals. The wait before our massage I thought was kinda long. The massage itself was really nice, but I wish there had been more of a foot rub. When we were done and getting ready to pay, the reception area was incredibly warm. Like 80 degrees warm. It was so hot in there. I also noticed someone walked in while we were paying and they were immediately offered a warm neck wrap. We didn't get offered that. I wonder why.
