This facility will literally will put your loved one at risk. My father was rushed to the ER after I found him slumped over in a chair. His room was next to the nursing station. I asked the nurse simple questions like has a doctor made his rounds today and seen my father and did he eat his breakfast. The nurse would not answer these questions directly, forcing me to ask them repeatedly until she admitted she did not know the answers and would have to get back to me. I then asked for assistance for my father. Two people came to check on my father including the doctor. It was not until the 3RD person came in and they took his vitals. It was a dire situation and he desperately needed O2. Thankfully they relented and called the ambulance. During this difficult time, the nurse who I asked the simple questions reported me to the administration. Jeremy, some sort of nursing supervisor, entered my room (while my father was in distress) and accused me of threatening behavior, which he could not articulate. He then threatened to call the POLICE to have my arrested. LOL Guys, these guys are unprofessional clowns. If you have a loved one who you care about, do not send them here. If you have someone you are trying to get rid of or possibly punish, this is your place.

The doctor, when meeting with me for the first time, called a patient "that crazy b*tch" and then proceeded to tell me that I was lucky I was in the unit I was in and not one of the "crazier" ones. Every time I'd ask the staff for something they'd be exceptionally unhelpful, one of the desk ladies told me quote "I don't really know how to operate the computer" when I asked her to PRINT something for me. Another fun quote I heard was "if a fight breaks out I'm too old and won't protect you, you're on your own." I expressed several times that I felt unsafe in my room and the staff just shrugged. This place should not be an operating facility and I plan on reporting them to the state. Quick follow up, I reached out to my social worker Mia Hernandez a day after discharge just about some concerns with my therapist in hopes of finding other options. I opened with "I apologize and don't mean anything against you because you were very nice to me" and she immediately rudely replied that given my condition (seems a little discriminatory) and that I was only there for three days there was nothing they could do. I replied that I felt her response was a little unprofessional given the circumstances and that I'd hope she'd have a little more compassion in maybe helping me search my options and she said quote "find your own therapist." I've never seen a facility be this uncaring of their patients and unwilling to help , especially ONE DAY AFTER DISCHARGE, and I plan on reporting them to the local police and following through with a report to the state police.

Inpatient has a commitment requirement that the patient will participate in physical rehabilitation for three hours every day. I found this immensely beneficial, since some places just leave you doing little or nothing every day. The rooms look like The Four Seasons Hotel! I was in a room of my own...all hardwood, large windows with water views, a nurse with no more than seven patients. Lots of rehabilitation work, but everyone is very attentive. My nurse was phenomenal. There are no meal menus. An attendant comes to your room with a wheeling computer cart, and reads you menu suggestions, but you are always free to voice your own choices and wishes. Food was delicious. There's so much detail to every single thing here! If you HAVE to be somewhere, it's a terrible catastrophe, but being at Spaulding, Charlestown is the best!
