He has been a patient/resident at 5 prior facilities before going to Newbridge. Although the care for people like my brother is not easy or perfect, the staff at Newbridge provides excellent care and medical treatment second to none.Patients fortunate enough to be there get personalized attention. My mother was in this facility, and I visited my mom every weekend. She had Alzheimer's. One day,…read morePam, the social worker, called me at work at 4pm. Apparently, my mom had been raging all morning and afternoon. Rather than call me when the raging started, she had her sent to Saint Elizabeth's psych ward and started using the term FTD to describe her condition. She said she had never seen such violent behavior. (My mom was 5'2" tall and about 105 pounds, mind you.) Since I worked for the Alzheimer's Association at the time (which is probably the real reason my mom was sent out, as I was fully aware that this facility did not have the required activities programming to market itself as having an Alzheimer's unit but did so anyway), I called contacts at McLean and had her transferred there. Her doctor there said my mom had no business being in a psych ward. She had Alzheimer's type dementia, and her behaviors were relatively common. I had her transferred to Newton Wellesley Alzheimer's Center, and the staff there cared for her lovingly and with tremendous empathy and kindness until she passed away yesterday. I'm writing this review now because I don't want any family to have to suffer through what we went through. If you are absent and don't really care about your loved one with dementia, then choose Golden Living Center in Dedham. However, if you love your mom or dad and plan on visiting regularly, then place your parent somewhere else. You will sleep better, trust me.

Came out quick and hot. Eaten there many times and it's always good with courteous, attentive service. That being said dining is by invitation only from a resident. Lucky me. Took a nice walk around after lunch really beautiful grounds this time of year.

My aunt has…read morelived there for several years, I have visited many times, and I have NEVER seen any evidence of vermin, broken things, etc. Both the facilities and my aunt's apartment are in pristine shape every time I've visited; any problems with apartments are fixed promptly, and the staff takes great care in keeping everything not only in top-notch shape, but well decorated and pleasant. It's not perfect - no place is - but the relatively small problems at OC do not in any way overshadow the friendly and helpful staff, good food, interesting and useful programs (including performances, art classes, book club, talks on various topics, etc.). I looked at numerous elder communities with my aunt before she moved here, and you will not find anything better (although you will find others that are also excellent - the final choice is determined by location, cost, environment, and personal preference). I would not at all hesitate at all to choose OC for an elder community!

She needed a lift and these places promise lift care but the aides aren't properly trained and not enough staffing. My father was in a Benchmark facility and I had to pull him out. Anyone who needs more attention will not do well in Benchmark facilities. Though they look lovely, it is all smoke and mirrors. Beware.

The food has gone horribly downhill, they have spend a ton of money on renovations, yet do lot seem to be successful attracting whatever new clientele they were hoping to attract.
