I had tried Sparrow's once before a few years back but wasn't incredibly impressed at the time, as I think I ordered the wrong thing (thin crust instead of original crust pizza). My boyfriend was craving pizza last night and suggested we order delivery from Sparrow's, as they offer free service to the surrounding area. I selected a four cheese pizza, light sauce, and he ordered the sausage and ricotta, added extra ricotta and added spinach. The four cheese still had more sauce that I'd personally prefer so next time I'd just ask for the thinnest layer possible in the notes. Otherwise, both pizzas were good! Lot's of 5 star reviews so we wanted to check Sparrows out. I am a pizza snob so it is hard for me sometimes to be objective when it turns out to not meet my preffered 'type' of pizza. Overall 4.5. I recommend Sparrow's - It's a solid choice, especially if you prefer a thicker crust and a bit more sauce. Great service and fresh ingredients are a plus. We called ahead and they answrred quickky and were very polite and friendly. Only 15 min wait for a Friday night! Very friendly when I picked up too. 6 people working and they were all busy! Note this is a take out and delivery only spot. Its hidden off Horseoen and Broad behind Full Key The pizza itself was good, boasting a fresh and well-cooked crust. I found the crust a bit on the thicker side, and there was a bit more sauce than I like, although not enough to cause the cheese to slide off. Sparrow's never disappoints. Everything they make is top notch. I've never had a pizza like theirs where I absolutely love every component: the toppings, the cheese, crust, and even the marinara sauce. I'm not a big fan of marinara, usually, but Sparrow's marinara is heavenly! I even get extra to dip my pizza in. I've sampled through their whole menu over the years I've been ordering from them and there is nothing they make that I don't like! My family has been order sparrows for 2 years now and the food always hot and fresh and the staff is always polite and helpful. Absolutely delicious. My husband and I are from Buffalo, NY and moved here 10 months ago. TL;DR: Friendly service, Garlic knots to die for. Delicious and affordable pizza. I finally got around to trying this place out on Friday night. It was snowing pretty bad, so a lot of other places had closed due to the inclement weather. I called to put in an order for pick up, and they said it would be around 30 minutes or so. Okay, no biggie. When I got there, it was a little shop that I pass by all the time, but never realized what it was. The inside is small (no seating area), so pick up or delivery only. There was only one person working inside, and he seemed to be the one taking orders over the phone, making the pizzas, AND taking payment. He was super friendly, and I would come back just for that. Food: - Whatever you want pizza: Basically, add as many toppings as you want. A large was $14 (same price as their supreme), and it was so delicious. We got pepperoni, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, jalapenos. For having that many toppings, their crust was sturdy enough to where it didn't get soggy. There is no extra flavorings on the crust, but the crust alone tasted so good. The toppings were fresh, and they used REAL bacon, not those bacon bits you buy in a jar. - Garlic knots: OMG best garlic knots I've ever had. They were pretty large, but so soft. The garlic butter sauce was so good, not too salty or overpowering. You could choose to scoop up some extra garlic from the bottom if you wanted to though, and i LOVE garlic. You get ~8 garlic knots for $4. No better deal than that. I will definitely be coming back here when I'm in the area, since delivery would be too far from home. So I decided to visit this spot based on some of the reviews here on Yelp! I ordered a small half pepperoni and half sausage pizza and a small Salad Supreme no olives. First that was the biggest small salad I've ever had. I ate less than half and there is still so much salad leftover. Filled to the brim with cheese, bacon, mushrooms, green peppers, onion, and nice chunks of chicken. I ordered ranch but received their House dressing which was really good! The pizza crust had a good texture and held up well. But for me the pizza overall was a bit salty and greasy for my taste but I ran it back in the oven to heat it up and it was better. After reading all of the previous reviews, we were excited to take the leap and try Sparrow's. We ended up getting the garlic knots, but honestly, I think they're overrated. There wasn't much garlic flavor at all and they were just doused in oil/butter. Plus, the marinara was just eh. We got the BBQ chicken pizza on thin crust and I think that was the best BBQ pizza we've ordered in a long time. However, we also got the meat pizza and that was just OK. I wouldn't say it was bad, but it certainly wasn't better than other pizzerias in Richmond, as suggested by other reviews. I think the best part of it all is nothing was super greasy, but honestly, if it means more flavor, then I welcome a bit more grease. Will not be reordering from here in the near future. read more

What can I say about Sparrows Pizza? It's a small little pizza shop that really does 1 thing Pizzas (calzones and Stromboli can fit in here), but like many small places that do an exceptional job. This is not NY Style, I'd call this homestyle. The dough is soft and light with the perfect crunch on the outer crust, the sauce is hearty with a deep rich tomato flavor. Overall the pizza is well balanced on both flavor and mouth feel. Toppings are definitely above average in quantity and quality. We just recently discovered Sparrow's Pizza. I agree with another reviewer on here that said Richmond pizza is lacking. Sparrow's is an awesome find. It's great value and just a solid pizza. We've never had a bad one. It's very consistent and you know what you are getting every time. It's awesome they deliver to us too. We don't have any good delivery options, but now we have Sparrow's. FYI, they have green olives too which is a plus. I know it sounds weird but pepperoni and green olive pizza is delicious. Just ordered today and it got to my house ridiculously fast. It was like burn your face off hot, one bite everybody knows the rules. I think Dave would say it's a good football pizza. The crust isn't too big and bready. It's not crispy, but the crust has a nice "chew" to it. It's good hot, cold, warm. I would say it's my current go to for a regular pizza. read more
