Tracey has been cutting and ruling my hair since 2009 when she was at Sine Qua Non salon. I followed her to Sparrow and have not been disappointed. I love the simplicity of the salon and the staff is always so friendly. Tracey really understands how to cut and style so many different types if hair. She even styled mine and my bridal party's hair for my wedding. The salon 5 minutes off the highway which works so well for me since I live on the North Shore. Back in the day I art-directed and guided my hairstylists in an ever-failing attempt to achieve a haircut that I liked and felt suited me, but now I know better. These days I just put myself in Bathsheba's capable hands, and I couldn't be happier. She is particularly skilled in hairstyles that require practically zero effort to look good (even morning bed-head looks cute), and she can even make it appear that your head is better shaped than it actually is. Both women are highly skilled, and I hear that Susan's special barber training means that she is exceptional with men's haircuts as well. . . I receive compliments on my hair from friends and strangers in every city I visit, to the point that I now consider it a normal occurrence. SO glad Sheba and Susan have their own place to showcase their genius. The shop is absolutely gorgeous, the woodworking is stunning and the fact that they kept the 100 year old linocrusta up on the walls and simply framed it out and showcased it, speaks volumes about what these two gals are all about. Sheba is the BEST! I have naturally very curly hair. I have straightened it for almost twenty years but decided I wanted to try wearing it curly. I have tried different salons in the past and have never liked what they did. Sheba did such an awesome job! She gave me a great cut that allowed me to become more comfortable with my curls (and also wear it straight if I wanted). In addition, the color she chose for my hair was awesome. So funny story: I am 8 months pregnant and thought that I should get one more nice haircut before it all goes down. I went to Susan on a friend's recommendation and came out with smooth layers and bangs, cut with detail and fineness. This is the first time I've ever yelped anything, but I can hardly contain myself. A couple different people recommended this place then I checked to see if Yelp agreed (it did) and I went today to get a haircut. Susan listened to what I wanted, looked at a picture I brought in and suggested a few adjustments. I now have a haircut I absolutely love, a very current cut that looks good on my head, and it's not something that I could have ever gotten just by explaining what I thought I wanted or showing someone a picture. She's an artist (and very nice, as well). My friend goes to Sheba and says she's equally amazing. The space they're in is a beautifully restored Chicago classic, the music playing was chill but interesting, and the price was less than I've paid for a good haircut in any major city. I happened to be home for a wedding, so I got my long hair cut off by Susan. I think it's one of the best haircuts I've ever had. ive been here a few times now and have always left so happy! both susan & sheba have done my hair and both of them have given me fabulous cuts- they seem to be those effortless great styles that require only minimal maintenance. i also love they are both so laid back and never push their products on you, as so many other salons do, but theyre happy to give recommendations if needed. they always give me good 'easy' hair tips, too, and i love the moroccan oil. bonus that the cuts are actually very reasonable for that quality of a salon. the only thing to keep in mind is that you should make your appointment well in advance, because they book up pretty quickly. verdict- even if i move out of logan square, i will definitely keep returning to sparrow! read more
