We needed some extra oomph and muscles to help with a deep clean to clear out the cobwebs and dust after some remodel work. I liked their vibe from the start. Local, friendly, professional and excellent communication throughout. Our old house only gets so clean, and they really did put some good old fashioned elbow grease into the full day of work -- and the fact that they use non faux-smelly cleaning products put the Cherry on top of my review. I wanted to update my review now that I've been using Sparkling Palaces for a few years. They've cleaned two homes I've lived in during this time. Unfortunately I won't be able to continue using them much longer, because we're moving to Vancouver next month, and they only service south of the Columbia. With each move, Amy has re-quoted based on the new house specs, but the price didn't change significantly. The Sparklers nearly always arrive during the schedule timeframe, and if they don't, Amy does her best to keep me informed and work out a solution that benefits everyone. The way Amy and team have handled Covid while my husband and I both work from home had been great. The sparklers always arrive in masks and keep their distance. We worked it out so that we can be outside on the patio working while they clean inside. I feel very safe letting them into our home. Every sparkler I've interacted with has been so positive and professional, and they all seem to love our two cats, which is great. It takes anywhere from 2-4 hours to clean our 1700sq ft home, depending on who is scheduled, and the details of the job. It's been rare that any issues with the cleans have come up, and Amy always addresses them swiftly and with grace. If you're considering hiring someone to clean your home, I highly suggest getting a quote from Amy and her team--they're a small, local, woman-owned business, who pays their employees fairly and makes sure they have time off and other benefits, uses green products, cares about black lives, and contributes back to the community. My wife and I both agree that the service we received was outstanding. Casey and Micky were friendly, professional, and focused on the transformation service. We were delighted by the attention to detail and felt like our home was given the love and attention we were looking for by going with Sparkling Palaces. We would give a grade of 99/100 - truly excellent. The only 1 point knock - and this is extremely minor - is a missed dusting on a furniture piece in the kitchen corner and some bathroom baseboard dirt/stain behind the door (hard to see and very small). Again, we were hard pressed to find anything wrong and thought they both did a fabulous job. We loved seeing our child's bed made, clothes folded, and a little stuffed animal tucked into the covers - what a fun little detail to see. It made us laugh. We also loved having the bed made with new linens and the great feeling walking into a clean home. We've had many house cleaners over the years, and Sparkling Palaces has consistently been the best. Heather and Natalie did an especially great job on Friday, leaving floors, tabletops and kitchen counters gleaming. I like that they add one extra task each time, such as wiping down the fronts of kitchen cabinets and getting rid of cobwebs on the front porch. Amy has been super proactive about reaching out - she was in touch the day after I submitted an inquiry online. We were easily able to find a time that worked with my schedule for her to come by for an initial consult. We walked through the house and talked about what we want and expect, and she was clear about how Sparkling Palaces works. She brought an FAQ sheet to be sure we were on the same page. The name truly says it all; the Sparklers will literally leave your house sparkling! We have a 2 story, 1900 sq ft house, and had tried out several different house cleaners before stumbling upon Sparkling Palaces. Previous house cleaners were "good" but not amazing. Take it from this ultra-organized Virgo - the Sparkling Palaces crew does an exceptionally amazing job. After a full year of them cleaning my house on a bi-weekly basis, I regularly see them not only accomplish the job at hand (leave my entire house "sparkling"), but also routinely go above and beyond. They do little things that only the homeowner would notice and appreciate...and appreciate it I do. Example: One week they went out of their way to clean up some cobwebs on my back porch. That's not what they're paid to do,nor did I never asked them to do it, but they saw the need and simply did it. This is just one of many awesome examples I could point to. I have given a lot of thought to writing this review for Sparkling Palaces. I considered writing a personal email to Amy Boggs to express my feelings regarding our limited interactions, but I think others need to know what kind of person they'll be dealing with if they choose to hire her services. I live in the tiny neighborhood of Bridgeton, a very desirable area with floating homes, townhouses and condos down the road from the Portland Yacht Club. I explained my living situation to Ms. Boggs -- I live in a small two-bedroom apartment in a building with only three other apartments -- and that with the extra hours I'm taking on at work, I need some help keeping up with general housecleaning. She seemed super sweet on the phone, in fact too sweet, but also very professional; she even followed up with an email before her scheduled walk-through of my home. As I'm standing on my front porch waiting for Ms. Boggs to arrive for our consultation, she calls me to ask if my building looks like "[describes my building]." Thinking she's lost, I let her know that sounds like the right one but that I can't see her or her car. She informs me that she's parked across from my apartment at the marina but refuses to even come to the porch to speak with me because she's "afraid to enter the building." Stunned, I ask again if she's sure she's at the right place. She assures me she is but that she has to consider her own safety and won't be able to help me with my cleaning needs. "Click." For days following this incident, I wasn't even sure what I should do. Frankly, my feelings were hurt, and I felt completely insulted. Somehow my home, which I happen to love, is good enough for me to live in but not good enough for someone to clean? I'm still not sure what Amy Boggs has against me or my apartment/neighborhood...maybe my building is too ugly or old and she isn't up to the challenge of cleaning it (although she didn't even pay me the common courtesy of looking inside my home to find out). Perhaps she felt that she might be mugged or shanked walking from her car to my front door, but seriously people -- I live down the road from the PORTLAND YACHT CLUB. It ain't Compton. I want Amy Boggs to know that I also work for a small local business, and if we ever treated our clients with the same disrespect and contempt she showed me, we would not only lose our base of loyal, repeat customers but also our many new clients who hear about our services through word-of-mouth. And they're all shown the same level of consideration, whether they live in a mansion or a minuscule studio apartment. Unless you enjoy feeling belittled and insulted, I absolutely do not recommend using the services of Sparkling Palaces for your housecleaning needs. read more

Amy first came by to give me quote she was very professional and quoted me $300 for a first time cleaning a little steep especially since our place is about 600 sqft, but our place was pretty messy and dirty so I complied. There after it was going to be 135, still a little pricey but I was really impressed with the first cleaning so I thought it was worth it. Unfortunately the matienence cleaning thereafter was considerably below the stardard she set. Dusty blinds, unmopped floors, uncleaned tub and bathroom sink. I emailed her to let her know how I was dissatisfied with her companys services and she offered a hour cleaning for free, which I guess is nice but I would of much rather had a well cleaned house the first time. Anyone have any recommendations on good solid house cleansers? read more

Over the last 2 years I have had 4 different cleaning services come to clean my house due to broken ankles, pregnancy/new baby & now returning to work while husband works 16+ hour days. We've had deep cleans, we've had maintenance cleans and we've had cleaners who come _highly_ recommended. But none even came close to the attention to detail and thoroughness that Sparkling Palaces brought this week. We have a funky house - old, patch-worked wood floors, unfinished baseboards, and exposed 2x4s in the living room ceiling. We also have 3 cats and a dog, so lots of places for animal fur, dirt and dust to settle in. SP did an amazing job hunting down all of that dirt and fur and leaving everything white glove clean. And not just that, but they did more than the surface - like wiping our fridge down and reorganizing our magnets, wiping out our fruit bowl, removing books from the shelves to dust, organizing our cookbooks and even changing the crib sheets. Verity was at our house right at 8:30am and happily greeted our dog by name! During the cleaning a couple questions came up and Amy contacted me to make sure everything was taken care of to our needs. When I came home I barely recognized my house! Left behind was a sweet note saying how much the team loved our creative/funky house and not a spec of dirt to be found. Honestly I didn't want to do anything but sit/sleep for fear of ruining all of their hard work! Looking forward to having the team come back and have already recommended them to a few co-workers looking for a service. If you are really looking for a _deep clean_ for your home SP blew the other 3 services we used in the last 2 years out of the water. Let me say first that I've never actually had Sparkling Palaces clean my place--I can't get them to call or email me back. A while back I submitted a request via their website form. I never received a call back, but wasn't too worried--it's technology, sometimes it fails. So, I called and left a message. I'm still waiting for a call back... So, if a business is so unresponsive to a request for MORE business, then I'm guessing they won't be very responsive if you're actually a customer. Even a courtesy call to say they don't need my business would have been better than simply not responding. read more

My husband and I own a business and with our schedule growing increasingly busy and with more traveling it has been hard to keep up. We had an initial meeting with Amy who is clearly very passionate and committed to her work. She asked questions and discussed their approach, to ensure that we established the right set of services. We recently received our first detailed cleaning that we arranged to have while we were away on business. It was truly a delight to return from our trip to a transformed home! I recently started using Sparkling Palaces for our 2br/1ba townhouse. I spent a long time researching places, and landed with them due to the best balance of cost/what's included. Some people prefer a more "we do whatever" approach, but I like that they have a detailed "what's included" list, as I can budget better that way. I also just like that they can come and go without me having to think through a list of to-dos. We just had our first sparkling, and it went great. THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE! In Portland, I think we all accept that the Zombie Apocalypse is as inevitable as the Cascadian Subduction Zone Earthquake. Which is good. We should all be prepared. Many folks however, overlook a very simple truth that should concern us all. We will all fall into one of two categories: 1) We are survivors canvasing homes for goods and shelter OR 2) We perish early and others will look to our homes for sanctuary. Given these truths, we must ask ourselves: Are our homes as clean as WE would expect from the homes of others, as we scavenge for survival? (Because we will be survivors; obviously!) These are the immediate concerns which lead my significantly better half and I to reach out and find a quality cleaning service (the four children and dog had NOTHING to do with this). We will be prepared. We couldn't have found a better solution to this worldly problem. Amy and her Sparklers offer a service that goes above and beyond all expectation; boldly dipping into wildest dreams even. It's incredibly rare to find a company who takes such pride in the quality of their work and the customer services that they offer. Not only is the owner, Amy, incredibly personable, but all of the Sparklers are as well. There have been times that we have needed to be home while the Sparklers work their magic and it only goes the way that we want; the Sparklers will strike up a conversation if you feel chatty or merely act as miraculous shadows of cleanliness silently drifting through your home. There have been very few times that I've made brilliant choices right out the gate (saving Star Wars figures, buying Apple stock in 1986, keeping my Tamagotchi alive for ten years), but I couldn't be more grateful for having nailed this choice from the start. We've been with Sparkling Palaces for a few years now. We were happy in the beginning, but in the last two years prices have gone up ~20% while quality has deteriorated. Scheduling has also been inconsistent. This summer alone they had to reschedule 3 or 4 times due to not having enough staff to cover someone's sick day or due to the heat. I am empathetic to wanting to ensure staff is cool, but we have air conditioning and this fact was not taken into consideration. We've also found the customer service to be increasingly rigid. For example, Sparkling Palaces had to reschedule their cleaning due to the heat (again, despite our air conditioning), so they cleaned our house a week later than normal. We notified the owner that we would forgo our next cleaning given there will only be a week in between cleanings. She notified us that we would be charged an extra 20% at our next cleaning because our house would be extra dirty because of the extra week in between cleanings. In short, they are penalizing their customer for a problem that they caused. I expect more when we are paying $100 an hour for cleaning services. read more

This was the first time I used a housecleaning service so I was sure to do my research. There are so many options to choose from. Out of the 3 companies I called, Amy's company stood out from the rest. Every interaction-- from the initial walk through of my home to the timely response to my emails- was extremely positive. She was also able to accommodate using natural cleaners I was currently using in my home. The day of the cleaning Amy and Alex arrived on time and were extremely pleasant and professional. When I came home, I was very happy to find a sparkling house! Amy and Alex paid great attention to details and it was so evident when I walked into my home. The baseboards and floors were spotless. Granite counters and appliances were shiny and clean. Carpets has the fresh vacuumed look. Pillows neatly arranged on couches and I could tell all rooms were "sparkled". Everything she said she would take care of, she did. I keep a very clean home and it has got to the point where I just wanted a good deep cleaning. I've been very impressed with Amy and her group of "Sparklers." They are polite, professional, show up on time and get the job done and done beautifully. There is tremendous attention to detail and a lot of follow-up before and after a cleaning to make sure things are done right. Sparkling Palaces did a great job on my house. They went above and beyond in their attention to detail, even cleaning and basically restoring an old teapot that I thought was beyond hope. Their prices are fairly high, and ended up being too high for me in the long run, since I don't really want to pay for that deep of a cleaning on a regular basis. I did not experience the negative interactions described in the other reviews here (and I think it's very strange that Yelp is filtering out all of their 5-star reviews),. If you don't have a nice house, don't bother. Amy, the owner, gave me an initial quote over the phone "so as not to waste anyone's time" and as I agreed to her range of possible costs for weekly, and biweekly cleanings, she then came over. She was very nice, and professional, and even wore booties for the estimate, which I appreciated. However, in an obviously passive way of saying "I don't want your business," her actual cost was almost twice her original estimate. Her email reply was a very 'nice' way of saying "take it or leave it." It needs to be stated that I have never had my house cleaned by this company, so I can not comment on their quality of service in that regard. Kudos for her for having so much business she can pick and choose, I suppose. But honesty would have been nice. read more

The owner, Amy, came to my house to do the initial quote and noted all my problem areas and preferences from the start. I also wanted to stick to a budget and she was happy to accommodate. I had the sparklers come once a month and it was always the best day to come home. They would go above and beyond each time and clean something extra each visit to add to my surprise. I also have a small french bulldog who can be a lot sometimes, but the sparklers always took time to give her pets and love during their time in the house. The owner assured after that my after they came my house would be the cleanest it's ever been and now I can assure you that this is truly the cleanest my house has ever been!
