My treatment left me with a misaligned jaw and discomfort, and the staff doesn't respond once they've collected your money. I had no idea i had sleep apnea, no symptoms, except that I snored. Turns out, I had severe obstructive apnea and the CPAP machine was like a nightmare with air blowing all over the place, sinus infections, eye irritation... Luckily I found Spark Sleep Solutions!! I wear an oral retainer which they custom made for me and it works great! Pop it in before bed, it is comfortable and easy to use. Best of all it works to control hypoxic events...which can kill you, by the way!! In the last few years, when the occasion arose that I did not have my oral appliance, on 2 separate occasions I ended up in the ER with cardic trouble (supra ventricular tachycardia or PAT) as a result of not using my device!! It just happened again a few weeks ago while wearing the device, which signaled to me that I was not breathing at night. Sparks re-evaluated me ( and another sleep study) and re-made a new, revised oral appliance and I am back to sleeping like a baby and breathing correctly. I have been a nurse over 40 years and people, including the medical community have not given sleep apnea ( and the treatment of it) enough recognition for the health hazards it results in. The folks at Spark Sleep Solution are fantastic, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I got an oral device from Spark Sleep through Kaiser only to find out much later that Kaiser only covered the cheapest device. My device has been sent back to be remade twice in the first year. Now they are telling me that I have to pay $95 for an office visit to look at a device that slips right off my teeth. I was misdiagnosed with sleep apnea when I actually had a severe, health threatening neurological condition. I went through 2+ years of sleep apnea treatment believing it was the underlying cause; many+ months were spent at this clinic. The doctors here are careless and oblivious. If you are a parent taking your kid here (and you love them) look elsewhere for a more attentive doctor. If you are an adult, struggling with fatigue like I was, go elsewhere. Read on for more details. At the time I was ~22/23, 6 foot+ tall and 180 pounds. I was in incredible shape, the past year I had ridden over 2,000 miles on Strava and in college I was on the rowing team. Towards the end of 2020 I started to become so tired I couldn't get out of bed. Every morning I woke up it felt like I had taken a fistful of benadryl the night before. I stopped cycling, I stopped doing the things I loved. A sleep study showed 2 OAs between 11PM-4PM; 5 hours of perfect sleep, the last hour before I woke up had 68 events which brought average to 8.2 - poof a diagnosis! Showing up at the clinic something seemed off; there were TVs playing non-stop advertisements with this doctor for their mouthpiece product. Shouldn't medical devices be driven by direct doctor recommendation and not infomercials? I saw the doctor at this clinic, "Dr." Shah for ~10 minutes for my first appointment. I explained the situation and he mentioned to me that my situation sounds similar to his and that he believed that the mouthpiece would help me greatly. He explained the whole moving the jaw forward etc etc. He left quickly and in came the assistant. This was a young kid and they did some sort of test where they moved my jaw forward in increments and tested throat volume (if I remember right). Every measurement this guy looked at me and said 'wow - this is going to be really good, the difference is huge'. I heard these things; these were medical professionals, I believed them and hearing these things from them reinforced the 'diagnosis' of why I was suddenly suffering so much at the age of 22. They took pictures of my teeth, my jaw, and told me to come back in X months time for the mouthpiece. I stopped looking for answers elsewhere because of these "doctors" beliefs. I believed them, they were doctors and went to medical school. Over a month later I picked up the mouthpiece, again I think the main doctor came in for 2 seconds to check the fitting; everything else was done by an attendant. They explained the whole thing, one turn per day and then wear the overfitter in the morning for 15-20 minutes to reset the jaw. I was so happy to get this, I looked forward to waking up the next day with energy. I didn't and every day for a month I cranked this mouthpiece and every day went to bed with hope. Every morning I woke up exhausted with no change except jaw pain. My next appointment I started to complain about jaw pain and a gap in my teeth which was forming. I was told that it takes time to adjust and that for the gap in my teeth I needed to wear my retainer and the over fitter and that if I was doing that this wouldn't be happening; newsflash - I was and when she obtained the image of my teeth taken before this mouthpiece itt they were perfect. I was being gaslit at the time and I wasn't made aware of the risks. They made it seem like a 15 minute reset would be fine but here I am over 3 years later writing this review (with mild parkinsons due to the misdiagnosis) a fucked up jaw which is in pain all the time, a bite which doesn't aline and chipped teeth due to this and no recourse. Unfortunately however there are complaints all over the internet for this and you as a reader can be more aware. Anyways, I just stopped going - It just became too hard. In addition to the fatigue I was waking up with significant pain in my jaw; it hurt a lot. I felt like when I went to the doctors I wasn't being heard. In retrospect this was nothing more than an entire clinic which was outsourcing expensive mouthpieces from a 3rd party supplier and billing the hell out of insurance. Its a doctor's duty to attend to and treat the patient. Looking back I think it was pretty clear I didn't have sleep apnea, these systems were something else but I was just being passed off and my insurance billed. Shame on these people. 3 years later I found out the true cause of my illness and treated it with a trial drug. My vitals had dropped significantly during the 3 year period but with the right treatment there was immediate recovery in my blood work. Unfortunately there was already serious damage done to my body which was irreversible; tremors, visual snow, neuropathy and more. Shame on this clinic - by gaslighting me with sleep apnea red herrings, they made me overlook real underlying issues and forever changed my life; significantly for the worse. read more

I have been suffering from sleep apnea for a while and I stumbled upon them on yelp. I was so scared of doing this for fear of judgement and just another "you're obese, lose weight" kind of conversation. It was none of that. The staff and doctor are very helpful and kind. The device, while it takes some adjustment, works and is very practical and convenient. My snoring is more tolerable now and I am optimistic that it will go away as I go through my last adjustments. Between me and my insurance we paid for an oral appliance that did not work for me. The appliance that cost more than $2000 did not work any better than a $99 appliance. There was a oral appliance available that would work better for me but it would cost me an additional $1000. I checked with the maker of the appliance and was informed that the retail price should be $700. I asked Spark Sleep Solutions for the recommended price from the maker but they denied it. I approached Spark Sleep solutions after my insurance had changed and they wanted another $2000 to recheck my sleeping condition plus the $1000 for the appliance. When pressed, he accepted that yeah, a patient can also send them the documents, BUT a doctor is available 3 months from now. I had first worked with Spark Sleep Solutions in June of 2018. I was always impressed with the clarity with which Spark sleep personnel spoke to me. Concepts were relayed to me in a highly understandable manner and remedial actions were taken very quickly. I am now returning to Spark with the objective of acquiring a second Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) for treatment of my Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). My first round did not work out well, not because of anything Spark did, but at the time, I was unaware that insomnia coexisted with my OSA, relegating the MAD that was issued to me in 2018 ineffective. Other medical professionals did not alert me to insomnia. This second go around was expedited with the help of Tram in the head office. She outlined what was needed from my Primary Care Provider (PCP) and helped me to set up an appointment very quickly. Tram also assisted me in obtaining the necessary approval from United Health Care, which I am sure, was a majorly, daunting task. Much appreciated. read more

I'm giving 2 stars for the quality of the treatment, but must make note for their billing practices which are designed with no regard for the patient's wallet and to extract a maximum amount from patients. I came in for what I thought was an in network specialist visit to Dr. Cynthia Diep (referred by my primary care doctor), expecting to pay $20. I had confirmed with my insurance on the phone that she was in my network and that $20 was the expected co pay. Upon arrival, they insisted I pay $200 up front before I could see my doctor. Obviously I was very confused by this, but I believed that the insurance company would be able to reimburse me for the excess amount I paid. Then without my knowledge they proceed to bill the service under a different doctor's name "Srujal Shah" who is out of my network, allowing them to charge an exorbitant price ($600-700) for a single visit, as opposed to the much lower in network rates. During the visit they also pressured me to undergo treatments costing $1000 which I could easily obtain for less than $100 from an in network provider. Months later I receive statements from my insurance company stating that I technically owe hundreds of dollars to the practice since it was filed as an out of network service. My insurance company agrees with me and is still attempting to get them to submit the claim under the correct and in network provider. It has been 3 months of making phones calls to correct this. I am hoping that by writing this review to spare other people from the same fate and make them improve the transparency of their billing practices. read more

I've never seen any medical office with someone so dedicated to fighting insurance for you. It took 2 appeals and an outside review to get my device approved as medically necessary. The initial visits went well when I saw Dr. Shah or the other dentist. But their follow up was terrible, and my last "visit" was an indication of complete lack of skills, education, and lack of competency of the so-called "medical/dental staff. Due to Covid, they weren't seeing a lot of people, then I had several deaths in the family. When I finally scheduled a visit, they didn't have any openings in the local office (they have several in the Bay Area). So I scheduled a follow up visit almost a 50 minute drive from my home. When I got there, it turns out that I did NOT have an appointment with Dr. Shad, which was NEVER mentioned when I made the appointment. The initial "medical" assistant had absolutely zero knowledge of dentistry, tooth numbering, and did not even understand the device. Because my device no longer fit (and was not adjusted correctly), they wanted to send it out for repair. Except that I had told them several times that the reason it didn't fit was because I had two new crowns. That fell on deaf ears, and they charged me to send it out. I was so taken aback by the incompetency of the assistants and my visit, that I called and then wrote the office manager about what I had experienced. I also told them I did NOT want the dental device sent out because repairing it would not make it fit. They promised me to refund the money and cancel sending it out. Of course that did not happen. 9 weeks later, I got an email saying that my device was finally back and please come and pay for it. Just another example of how bad this office has become. Despite calling and sending my complaints, nothing happened. While Dr. Shah is pretty good, he leaves follow up visits to his "dental" assistants. That is a complete waste of time. I recommend you find some other office to work with because this office is not worth your time or money. read more

My initial visit was by far the most pleasant experience I had EVER had as a patient; anywhere! Doctors, dentist, optometrist, etc.. I really cannot believe it has taken nearly 60 years to have such a pleasant experience. The staff was extremely well trained, polite, friendly and engaging. I really appreciated everyone's professionalism from the office staff, Sam and Josie were the best, Dr. Yim was warm, personable, informative and I never felt rushed, she took her time explaining everything, they all did, it was amazing! I have sleep apnea and CPAP doesn't work for me. My doctor recommended I should try the dental device from a certified sleep dentist specialist. I called ALL the sleep dentists (100+ !) listed under my company's insurance (Blue Cross Idaho) and none of them works. I even reached out to my company's HR and received No help. I was going to give up....Until I talked to Tram at Spark Sleep solution, Tram is very helpful and explained the situation to me. Yesterday I had my second visit at SSS. I was 100% satisfied with the device Dr. Shah had fitted for my mouth. After the first night of sleeping with the apparatus in my mouth I had my first full night's sleep for as long as I can remember. I sleep through the night now without even needing to go to the bathroom. Before I would go 3-5 times during the night. The mouthguard has completely changed my life as I wake up fully rested. The very best part of my visit though was working with Joclyne. I felt her professionalism and knowledge of the product put me on a much better path as I left the office. There were some things I did not understand the first visit and Joclyne, with mighty patience and sweet temperament made sure I left the office with complete confidence that I will master this thing we call sleep. I forgot to pick up the cleaning machine (only $42) which was my priority for my trip and Joclyne was on the phone with me first thing this morning getting my physical shipping address so Fed Ex can ship it out.
