First thing we noticed, we were given a handicapped room, and NO ONE in my family is handicapped, and we didn't request it, but ok, maybe the other rooms were filled. ----------- When we went up to the room, we immediately noticed that it was hot and there was no A/C, so we attempted to turn on the A/C. After about 10 mins of no success, we called the front desk and asked them to come up and fix the issue. The gentleman came into the room, looked at the thermostat on the wall, and then checked the unit near the window. He said he would be back and returned a few mins later and changed the batteries in the wall thermostat, and it finally came on. However, during the night, the unit was still shutting OFF completely, not due to it reaching the correct temperature, it was more of a power outage. ------------ **NOTE on Hotels Condition***The swimming pool area is "CLOSED for construction", this information should ALWAYS be disclosed at the time of reservation because this is important to some guests, especially when you're traveling with children who enjoy swimming. The stairwells were dirty and the ice machine on the 2nd floor was broken. ---------- ****DAY-2**** We spent the majority of the day at the Pitt Jam basketball event, so we didn't get back into our hotel room until almost 9pm. Once again, the AC WAS NOT WORKING! The wall display said "LOW BATTERY," even though the batteries were just changed the day before, so that tells me we either got used batteries from another room or extremely CHEAP batteries were used. We called the front desk AGAIN and informed them that the A/C was not working. I saw the maintenance guy I was speaking with in the hallway leaving another guest's room and asked him to come with me to take a look. I explained to him what happened, and he stated that he "wasn't surprised." A few mins later, the middle eastern gentleman that "changed" out batteries the day before came back to the room. I informed him that the wall unit said "low battery," and he said that wasn't the cause. He left and did something, and once again, the unit came back on. My wife and son were already in the bed and trying to sleep, so I didn't insist on a new room because we'd already had a long day. ----------- ****NOTE*** The A/C completely SHUT OFF again during the night. I woke up at 3:47am drenched in sweat and pissed off that this was happening again. I also noticed my laptop, which had been on the charger the entire time playing sleep music, had DIED. The OUTLET was DEAD! My son told me in the morning that his PHONE WAS DEAD, it was plugged in the entire night. ------------- ****BOTTOM LINE The ENTIRE ROOM LOST POWER at some point, and nothing worked!! I informed the GM of what had occurred. She apologized and said that since we booked with a 3rd party, we had to contact them for a refund and that she would approve it. We've stayed at hundreds of hotels over the years, and this is the 2ND WORST HOTEL EXP EVER, only outdone by bed bugs at another hotel a few years ago. ----------- *******READ & SHARE YOUR REVIEWS** Take pictures and list your REVIEWS on: Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp, Facebook, and the 3rd party you booked your stay. The historic building is beautiful and full of character. The event spaces were perfect for our daughter's wedding, and the food received wonderful compliments from guests. Hayley, the event coordinator, was fantastic. She was responsive, organized, and helpful throughout the planning process and the entire wedding day. The catering and event staff were attentive, professional, and efficient. They earned every bit of a five star rating. The hotel experience was a one star experience, primarily because of the general manager, Robert. From the beginning, communication was difficult. His responses often felt defensive or dismissive rather than collaborative. During our tour, Robert showed us beautifully decorated rooms and presented them as typical. When guests arrived, many of the rooms did not match what we were shown. Some were sparsely furnished, lacked basic seating, or had maintenance problems. Some had cleanliness issues, including dead flies and dried food. One room had a broken door frame and a door hanging loose on its hinges. Multiple room assignments changed without notice, and despite being told the hotel would be reserved for our group, at least one room was rented to someone outside the event, which we discovered in advance and were able to correct. Some rooms were eventually comped, but this was reactive rather than proactive, and it added stress to what should have been a joyful weekend. Five stars for the event staff and venue. One star for the hotel and the general manager's handling of accommodations.

We could not have picked a more perfect wedding venue!…read more At first, I was skeptical never having been to Washington. I'm very picky and aesthetic and look are VERY important to me. Having originally planned my wedding at a marble and gold mansion (the venue was shutdown), it was VERY difficult to pick another location that matched my look. Then I found the GW! From the moment we booked, the staff was beyond wonderful--every single person we worked with was so kind, professional, and truly on top of every detail. You can tell they genuinely care, and that made the entire process so enjoyable. The owner is absolutely awesome too and clearly invested in making every couple's day special. The venue itself is gorgeous, and our photos turned out amazing. I wanted a very editorial look and received so many compliments on how beautiful our wedding photos are compared to others people have seen. Our guests are still talking about how great everything was, how delicious the food was, and how much fun they had! On top of that, the fact that it's a historical hotel made it even more awesome. I was fascinated by the place! You're literally hosting this extravagant event in the same location our president like JFK were hosted. Having early access to the venue was such a game-changer--it gave us plenty of time to set up, breathe, and relax so I felt fully confident when the big moment came that everything was in place. Everyone kept asking if I was nervous on wedding day and I was literally stress free and just so happy! That is SO important. If you're looking for a venue that combines beauty, incredible service, and a team that makes you feel completely taken care of, look no further. We had ZERO issues with the GW Hotel. We're so grateful we celebrated our day here--it truly exceeded every expectation!

Either as Motel 6 or Rodeway Inn, I never had a problem. My stay this time began well enough; the room, while I wouldn't eat off the floor, was clean. The bed linens, while stippled with a few cigarette burns, were clean as well. Ditto the towels. All bathroom fixtures were operating properly, so I had no complaints. My problems began when my sister called to extend my stay. Not only was it nearly impossible to contact any of the staff (I had to walk to the office from the high 400 rooms only to find no one there. There were 2 pieces of paper taped to the COVID safety window with a number to call if no staff was available, which I then provided for my sister.), when she finally did get in contact with someone they were very rude, hanging up on her, then not answering when she called back. She called the number I gave her and finally managed to make arrangements for my extension. She was quoted a price of $65 per evening, for 2 evenings, which she agreed to. Total price, with tax, $144.30. (I know, the math didn't add up for me either.) When she checked her account online to see that charges were deducted, she was surprised to discover that $216.45 was removed. (The math is really off now.) She again called and was basically brushed off. She was told that she would be sent an email explaining all charges, which she has yet receive. (It is possible the individual was busy and couldn't immediately address her concerns.) Later in the day, after all transactions should have been concluded, an additional $7 was removed from her account. (Further mathematical discrepancies.) She again attempted to contact someone to correct the problem without success. She contacted Rodeway Inn customer service and the woman was rude and informed her that she couldn't help her. She then contacted Choice Hotels customer service, and lo and behold, it was the same woman with the same inability to help in any way. I'd hate to think anything fraudulent was being perpetrated, but unless the situation is remedied satisfactorily, I'll have no choice. What bothers me the most is how upset this has made my sister. All she wanted to do was to help me through a rough patch and her reward was anxiety and possible theft. In any event, if given the opportunity to stay at the Rodeway Inn in Washington, PA, run, don't walk, to any other motel in the area. This experience has soured me completely. *No accusations are being made. Merely an exploration of possibilities, negative as they may be. Hopefully a positive resolution will be found, and it's nothing more than an unfortunate misunderstanding.
