    SpringHill Hotel

[[Wed.31.May.2023 @ 2:30pm]] Wife & I was traveling back from EriePa, we had a 4.5hr travel to do to get to our destination, but we are no spring chickens any longer, so we decided to pull into this Hotel and do a rest break overnight and complete the last 2hrs of drive the next day. We had no reservation so we was curious if they had a room available or not but we was hopeful, after getting inside at front desk, we asked the gentleman if they had a room, sure enough they did, it was #102 Suite which was very nice and comfortable, it only cost $107.00 night tax in all (but there is always a extra $50 security deposit, once you check out 48hrs later will be placed back in your acct.). It was a nice suite, came with full breakfast next morning, pool and more, suite had Kitchen, Desk, Sofa Sleeper, King Size Bed and large Bathroom.

    Broken lamp shade.

To start, our reservation was not honored even though we booked a month in advance. We were put in the 'Jacuzzi suite'. I wouldn't put my pinky toe in that thing. There were large black grease marks all over the carpet. I couldn't find a single wall that didn't have the wallpaper pealing off. The shower pressure was so high it felt like a sandblasting. To top it off, the refrigerator made a loud bubbling noise.

Do not stay at this hotel. It was very dirty. I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and this hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. The hallways were dirty, there was hair amongst other particles all over the bathroom floor. We could not shower because the bathtub was clogged, the shower curtain was stained, and the water never got hot. The eggs and bacon for breakfast were disgusting. The owners of this hotel are cheap and do not take care of the place.

DISGUSTING! Carpets are stained everywhere, toilets don't flush properly, beer left in the fridge from (assuming!) previous room renters....and the sofa bed....EW! We chose a Springhill Suites because we needed additional space - and there was NO WAY someone in my family was going near that sofa bed. I am a Bonvoy Platinum member - I travel plenty - and I have never, ever experienced such a poor stay in a hotel. Avoid this place at all costs.

So basically it was a clean looking building with a modern interior in the lobby/check in area. I wasn't sure however if my room was updated at one point within a few years or not. (Note: Construction was going on down the hall in other rooms). The sleeping area and living sections were nice and contemporary. However the shower had pealing wallpaper and mold stained sealant, leading me to believe it was an older interior waiting to be remodeled or a bad update was done that spoiled quickly. Over all however the room seemed clean, was quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. I didn't like the cable system as the directory didn't give any program details. Breakfast was sufficient, with yogurts, cereal, juices, eggs. Although they didn't allow us to use the self serve waffle maker (maybe it was broken) and I had to find someone to provide milk for the cereal (cartons available were frozen solid). The dining area was modern and clean. The general location was convenient to the highway and other nearby businesses.

Table also scratch up and no care or maintenance repairs

OK, I'm not going to complain or make false allegations against the company, having said that this is absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed in my entire life. My wife and I made reservations for this location for September 21 and 22nd when we arrived everything look fine on the outside we go up to the counter and the young lady Told us that we would be in room 210 second floor, which we wanted it on the first, but it was OK. We get into the room and we see filthy wall filthy unders sides of the bed, the bed Apron. The plaster coming off the wall in the bathroom, tape holding the towel rod up, and that was just the beginning we looked further when we opened the blinds the see-through sheets that are between the window and the curtains were ripped shredded like just thrashed completely. The showerhead did not work. It was only on high jet more filth was found throughout the room. The refrigerator door didn't close, one of the outlets didn't work. The television damn near fell off the wall and hit us in the head when complaining about it to the staff I showed him photos. I showed them videos. They said they were doing a renovation. I told them this room should never been rented out in the condition it was in, they offered to switch my rooms the next day and when I try to do that they were not available to do it. Now mind you with discounts I had earned it was about $300 for the stay. I reached out to the manager the next morning when I was leaving told Hera out stay and showed her the videos. She promised to have me call back the next day, which didn't happen. I called two days later. Spoke to Richard the manager at that time told him the situation and emailed him the photos and videos. he promised to call me back and never did, I contacted corporate office and told them and they promised to give a credit of 40,000 points. I told them no I wanted to refund from the hotel and I told them I wanted a letter of apology. They said they would send an email to the owner and manager and they would contact me. I never received a contact from either. My wife received an email a generic survey of our stay. She told them it was very poor. They give 10,000 points in a generic apology. Nobody calls nobody deals with the business the right way this organization I called back after giving them a week to call me, I spoke to a manager and their customer service team for the corporate office and she basically said your case is closed tough shit so I'm posting this so everybody knows to avoid Springhill suites by Marriott, the photos are the proof. I would tell you now, just avoid Marriott. There's other hotel chains that will treat you right and do better by you as a customer they will never see my business again, I pray that anybody that chooses to stay at this location sees these and chooses not to?

    Bathroom

Just a sampling of what I found saw...Hair in the bathroom, stained sheets, bathroom was not clean.

Stain (blood) on floor at bed

This place was so dirty. I called the front desk upon checkout to clean the debris left by the previous tenants, and he vacuumed but when I turned down the comforter in front of him a spider crawled across the bed. He crushed it with his fingers and didn't say anything. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but only stayed one night. Only because we checked in at 7:00 pm. We found the courtyard by Marriott down the road for about the same price. Do not stay here!!!

    Paint residue.

Where do we start? Lol If you need a very inexpensive place to lay your head or if this just happened to be the last place to book because you waited until the last minute to get a room closer in town, then you're OK. If not, move on. If you're claustrophobic, you won't be able to take a shower. It's extremely small and the water takes forever to drain. If more than one person is using the shower, you will have to wait until your water has been drained, clean the tub and then wait until that water drains. Lol PLEASE ask for a room WITH NO CARPET. Lol The carpet has been here since the beginning of time. They took us to three rooms before we decided on one. Our friend said that his room had to have been a crime scene. Someone else in our group said that the rooms should have been buy one get six free. Lol Book at your own risk. Lol Ok, as I'm about to hit submit, I see this huge mosquito. WE ARE LEAVING TOMORROW! Lol Forgot to tell you that there are gnats here and we asked for two extra towels and look what we received.

    Nasty

This hotel is creepy, nasty and needs a total over haul from the nasty aging carpet and wall paper to their staff. Shocked that Marriott would allow such a product and that they would actually put their guess in these rooms. They should be ashamed. I refused to shower her and definitely not eating anything from this facility. They try but they can't hide the filth. These lazy, cheap dirtbags literally staple the nasty as wall paper on the wall around the shower. Gross !!

Dirt on the main door where it was being kicked by the previous guests.

Good, Clean Hotel!!…read more I stayed in this Hampton for one night while in the Washington, PA Area. This Hotel is located right off the county highway. The location is great as it is very close to town, restaurants and shops. My room was a King room, and had everything I needed for a good visit. The room itself was clean; however, the Desk Chair had some stains and leftover food crumbs from a previous guest. The bathroom was immaculate. Wifi was easy to connect to. The downstairs lobby had a small guest lounge and dining area serving free breakfast with a variety of hot and cold choices. The gym was on the smaller side but had enough equipment for a workout, including a Peloton. I used my digital Key to check in and was able to head straight to my room upon arrival. My room was ready very early in the afternoon, which was very convenient for me after a long drive. Overall, good stay in a well-managed Hilton property.

Always a pleasant stay here and I never have any issues. It was quite embarrassing, but last year I managed to lock myself out of my room because I was messing around, unnecessarily, with that hook thing at the top of the door that lets the door stay cracked if there are two people in the room and one leaves. Anyway, there was only me and I locked myself out, and the Hampton Inn staff was really nice about letting me back in (with an unfolded hanger-type device one of their people had to carefully slip through the crack between the door and the wall, in order to un-flip the switch I'd flipped; god, this was so stupid, and I felt ridiculous the whole time this was being worked on). They were friendly about it and acted as though I wasn't a huge fool for locking myself out in such a weird manner. The breakfast buffet is pretty comprehensive for a relatively small hotel. They offer a solid selection of cold cereals, plus waffles, eggs, bagels, etc. There's also a pool and a fitness room. I never see these getting much use, so they're in great condition and there's a decent chance you'll have the rooms to yourself if you decide to use them. When I drive out to visit family in Ohio, there's never a question about where I'll stop half-way; Hampton Inn, Washington PA, is always the way to go.

If you are planning an event, I highly encourage you to read our story! We threw the team a massive curveball by calling them at the absolute last minute--on June 4th, just 22 days before our wedding date. Despite the tight timeline, they immediately connected us with Gretchen, the Director of Sales, and the magic began. Planning in Just Two Weeks Gretchen quickly scheduled a meeting to hear what we had in mind, and fortunately, they had a beautiful small banquet room available. During that initial meeting, we also met Justin, the Banquet Manager, who was right there alongside Gretchen to answer every single question that popped up. Gretchen took the time to truly listen to our story and understand the vibe of our guest list. She effortlessly walked us through: Picking out the perfect menu Creating a seamless timeline for the big day Keeping us updated constantly while checking in to see if we needed anything Friday, the day before the BIG DAY! We and several of our guests checked in for the entire weekend, and we were welcomed with open arms. The entire staff congratulated us and constantly offered their assistance. After settling into our rooms, we headed to the pool area--which was incredibly serene, relaxing, and the perfect spot to unwind with our guests. While poolside, John from Maintenance introduced himself. Every single time he saw us throughout the weekend, his jovial personality and 5-star customer service made us feel like the ultimate guests of honor. The Big Day: "The Best Wedding Food Ever!" Suddenly, the big day was here! Gretchen and Taylor were waiting for us right in the event room, ready to jump in and assist with any last-minute details. Our guests could not stop talking about how "just perfect" everything was, emphasizing the top-tier hospitality and the incredible buffet. To quote our guests directly: "This is the BEST WEDDING FOOD EVER!!!" A huge shout-out to Tammy - our personal bartender for the evening and the Chef and the kitchen team! The presentation was an absolute jaw-dropper, and the food was incredibly delicious. We chose the Cookout Buffet and added chicken tenders and french fries for the kids, which was a massive hit. Thank You, DoubleTree Team! We fully understand why couples usually plan their weddings a year or two in advance. However, with only two weeks' notice, the DoubleTree team created a beautiful wedding day that went way beyond anything I ever expected or imagined. An enormous thank you to Gretchen, Taylor, Tammy, John, and Justin. Thank you for all of your thoughtful, creative, and hard work to help us create a weekend we will cherish forever! Kept getting worse, they were out of cookies - no interest or indication she was going to make more. Her attitude was abysmal. Against my better judgement I checked in not wanting to drive another two and a half hours home to central Ohio. Checked in, got to my room, went to use the bathroom and found ants.... plural (theres never just one). Walked out of the bathroom and there were ants on the floor by the beds too. Went to call the front desk and the phone was out - no dial tone, nothing. Phone came from 217 and I was on a completely different floor.... Wife and I got our things, went back downstairs to a very apathetic Stephanie whose replacement (Brandi) was just as disinterested let alone trying to help in any way. Asked what they planned to do to make good on such an abysmal experience and I was directed to call Hilton - no effort to call their own manager or try and fix anything. Wildly unprofessional, unsanitary rooms, no cookies, no sign saying she'd be back, poor attitude from start to finish. I've been an Honors member for over ten years, I've been a Diamond member for several of those ten+ years. Even if neither of those were true no one should be treated or have the experience I did in ANY hotel, let alone one with the Hilton name on it. I hope they're accepting applications and looking for her replacement - its beyond me how this hotel has 3.8 stars. It's 3.8 too many.

The lobby was grand and historic, but the building was nearly silent when I entered. Not a soul in sight. Now I understand why. I was given a third floor room that was the furthest from the elevator, in a poorly lit, dingey, slightly scary hallway that had years of re-painting over old paint. The room was sparse, only one chair, not a table to work from, or lights by the bed or even a telephone. The cable television kept losing signal because the internet was unstable. I had to check my email seated from the bed. The bathroom didn't have soap, to wash hands, and the sink was the tiniest sink imaginable. There wasn't any counter space in the bathroom to put toiletries on and the bath gel in the shower was empty. The only soap to wash hands with or to use in the shower was a small jar of complimentary bath gel. The bath towels were two hand towels. The flooring in the room had recently been refinished, but was so shoddily done that it was uneven as it met the door to the bathroom. The staff were uninformed and incredibly rude. I had to ask for ice, because there wasn't a refrigerator, and when I asked to borrow a proper glass wine glass, the attendant suggested that I might steal it. When I asked her about local places to eat (there isn't a restaurant in the hotel), she said she didn't know about the local restaurants because she wasn't from there. The catering and event staff were attentive, professional, and efficient. They earned every bit of a five star rating. The hotel experience was a one star experience, primarily because of the general manager, Robert. From the beginning, communication was difficult. His responses often felt defensive or dismissive rather than collaborative. During our tour, Robert showed us beautifully decorated rooms and presented them as typical. When guests arrived, many of the rooms did not match what we were shown. Some were sparsely furnished, lacked basic seating, or had maintenance problems. Some had cleanliness issues, including dead flies and dried food. One room had a broken door frame and a door hanging loose on its hinges. Multiple room assignments changed without notice, and despite being told the hotel would be reserved for our group, at least one room was rented to someone outside the event, which we discovered in advance and were able to correct. Some rooms were eventually comped, but this was reactive rather than proactive, and it added stress to what should have been a joyful weekend. Five stars for the event staff and venue. One star for the hotel and the general manager's handling of accommodations.

My problems began when my sister called to extend my stay. Not only was it nearly impossible to contact any of the staff (I had to walk to the office from the high 400 rooms only to find no one there. There were 2 pieces of paper taped to the COVID safety window with a number to call if no staff was available, which I then provided for my sister.), when she finally did get in contact with someone they were very rude, hanging up on her, then not answering when she called back. She called the number I gave her and finally managed to make arrangements for my extension. She was quoted a price of $65 per evening, for 2 evenings, which she agreed to. When she checked her account online to see that charges were deducted, she was surprised to discover that $216.45 was removed. (The math is really off now.) She again called and was basically brushed off. She was told that she would be sent an email explaining all charges, which she has yet receive. (It is possible the individual was busy and couldn't immediately address her concerns.) Later in the day, after all transactions should have been concluded, an additional $7 was removed from her account. (Further mathematical discrepancies.) She again attempted to contact someone to correct the problem without success. She contacted Rodeway Inn customer service and the woman was rude and informed her that she couldn't help her. She then contacted Choice Hotels customer service, and lo and behold, it was the same woman with the same inability to help in any way. I'd hate to think anything fraudulent was being perpetrated, but unless the situation is remedied satisfactorily, I'll have no choice. What bothers me the most is how upset this has made my sister. All she wanted to do was to help me through a rough patch and her reward was anxiety and possible theft. In any event, if given the opportunity to stay at the Rodeway Inn in Washington, PA, run, don't walk, to any other motel in the area. This experience has soured me completely. *No accusations are being made. Merely an exploration of possibilities, negative as they may be. Hopefully a positive resolution will be found, and it's nothing more than an unfortunate misunderstanding.
