My husband and I were in town on business. We caught an Uber to the hotel and started to wonder if we were in the right place. Its close to the city. Thats a plus. But its out a long dark road with absolutely nothing w in walking distance and im pretty sure it was built in the side of a mountain. The night we arrived...Friday the 13th...high winds had caused a complete blackout. We walked in and due to renovations and pitch blackness it looked like a work site . The lady at the desk was very nice and apologetic. She saw we had prepaid ( if we hadn't i would have went elsewhere). We were on the second floor so we ( due to no elevator) hauled all of our luggage and suitcases up 2 flights of stairs in the pitch black also. The halls upstairs were long and dark. We got in our room and not only was it dark, there was also no heat or hot water. No food places would deliver to us bc their drivers didnt feel safe delivering to castle greyskull. I wouldn't have either tbh. I didnt have a battery pack so with my 10% phone battery, I ordered a cab for the next morning plugged in my phone and prayed it would come on sometime in the night. And it did sometime between 2 and 4 am. Pros: the front desk lady did a good job considering the situation. Cons: nothing around, ominous to pull up to w no power, no elevator, no heat, no electric, no food, no hot water. Gave me a few points on my account but tbh there should have been a refund or a complimentary night. Also curious if this was a problem of having no electric and we hadn't checked in yet, couldnt someone from hampton have contacted us and redirected us to another available location w power and water? I probably would not stay at this location again due to the lack of stores nearby but I love hampton so...ill stay at other locations under this brand. read more

Total scam. This property is way outside the city with no convenient access--no bus routes, no public transportation--so you're forced to drive everywhere. It's located next to a train yard in what feels like an industrial zone, with absolutely nothing within walking distance. To make matters worse, they charge for nightly parking... in a massive lot in the middle of nowhere. That was never disclosed at check-in, so it was a shock to see it added to the bill at checkout. The condition of the hotel was unacceptable. The room was not clean--cracked and missing tiles, dirty bathroom, and an overall unpleasant smell. On our first night, we even documented large sections of missing tile and brought it to the front desk so we wouldn't be held responsible. The staff response? Cold, dismissive, and they actually laughed at us. Common areas weren't any better--the stairwell smelled like dirty diapers, which says everything about the upkeep. Between the location, hidden fees, poor cleanliness, and unprofessional staff, this place is a total joke. Would not stay here again. read more

This is by far one of the worst Hampton Inn's I've ever stayed in! The staff are very nice but that's the only redeeming quality there! The lobby is being partially renovated but the elevators are slow and gross! The room is a standard room but can hear everything from the room next door including using the bathroom as if they were in my room with the door open! Hallway trash is just bagged next to the trash can. The breakfast was substandard! No eggs left! Seats in the lobby were gross and the trash was overflowing! read more

It's clean. The beds are comfy. The staff are friendly. It can sometimes have an...interesting...crowd. It never got too loud in the hallways. There was some loud creaking occasionally from the pipes or A/C or something. Overall, would stay here again. read more

The staff was very nice and welcoming and that's about where the positives ended for my family's trip to stay at this hotel for a family reunion. We usually stay at Hampton Inn's because they are a step above, and we never have complaints about the look, cleanliness or amenities available. Driving into the parking lot looked a bit sketchy. It's set off of an odd road, which I know there's no helping that, but the area looked abandon! The outside leading to it is overgrown and the road is littered with potholes and generally looks unkempt. Before entering our room it looked like someone had tried to bust down the door at one point, chips and gouges were marring the outside of the door. Once we got inside the room looked fine at a glance. The first trip into the bathroom then became questionable on the cleanliness. There were 'short' hairs on the floor in front of the tub/toilet area. The tub itself had the outer layer around the inside of the tub peeling or peeled away completely making it look not very attractive and clearly old and not updated any time recently. The towel I grabbed to dry off after my shower had stains on it and some sort of black marks I couldn't decipher. When brushing our teeth the drain stopper was so low the water wouldn't drain and the stopper didn't appear to be connected to anything so there was no way to adjust it. The water eventually went down after a few minutes. Getting into the bed, pulling back the top blankets/duvets revealed rust stains on the sheets. It's sad they can't seem to upgrade to nicer (as in not dirty/stained looking) linens and towels. This hotel is located near train track and highways all around. I don't know that any windows have been upgraded recently either. The sound traveled in from the highway ALL night. With motorcycles and sports cars revving and speeding down the road. Hoping for at least a decent breakfast (from 6am-10am) with some fruit and the possibility of eggs with something, when we made it down around 7:30 and there were scrambled eggs, bread for toast, one bagel (also one cream cheese), waffle batter, a few hard boiled eggs, a bowl of yogurt on ice and 2 options of cereal, Frosted Flakes or Froot Loops. Eventually sausage came out but never seemed to get replaced. My husband took the last bagel and cream cheese and those also never got replaced in the hour we were down in the lobby. There was no fresh fruit like apples or bananas. There was oatmeal with a few topping options. This was not the typical breakfast for a Saturday we've experienced at other Hampton's. Sitting down to eat what little there was, the long bench seat had so many stains on it I was beginning to wonder where I should sit. The tables were overall clean, but a majority of the chairs in the lobby were stained and didn't seem to have much spring in them anymore. Half were fabric covered chairs (the older looking, stained ones) and the rest were newer looking vinyl seats. Overall it was just grungy and run down looking. It's possible the franchise isn't keeping tabs on some of their hotels but in such a large tourist area like Pittsburgh, with this hotel being only 13 minutes away from downtown, I would have hoped for much nicer. With it's location what it is, they could upgrade their amenities and I'd be happy to pay a higher price. I was excited with taxes and fees it was only $140 a night, but I would gladly pay closer to $200 a night being near the city, if I received the usual worry free experience I've always had from this company. They need a whole bunch of renovations and a face lift to make me consider coming back there any time soon. I was happy it was just one night. read more

I mean YIKES. As a Hilton Big Wheel, this place was unacceptable. Let me start by saying the staff is very nice, but in all realistic boundaries- they are going down with the ship. This is located up the highway towards the airport and is really just in a little corner of the trees. The road leading up to it was lousy with potholes, and upon checking in the lobby is very small and right up against the elevators, and the first floor of rooms, and the dining area. Never a good sign. As far as the room- very small, reminds me of a Hampton I stayed at in Cleveland where the bed is right next to a couch, right next to a desk, right next to the bathroom. The room was very dated- the bathroom was small and VERY POOR. The ceiling inside it had MOLD, and everything was old and needs replaced. Breakfast the next morning was weak by their standards- eggs and sausage gravy- nothing spectacular , and as far as the seating area? The pleather was old and worn were you could see the under material. Hilton needs to either bring this up to code or sell it to Ramada. read more

Before I begin my review, I will state that all the employees at this location were professional and respectful. This entire hotel needs to be redone. When we entered our room, the curtain rod was off the wall, but my husband was able to jerry rig it to stay up. Our ice bucket had a crack in it and the ceilings of the room and the bathroom were peeling. There was a large stain in the middle of the carpet floor. We went to get towels and were told that they were out of them. The TV did not work the entire time that we were there. I don't like hotels that only clean the room every other day. I don't appreciate making my bed at a hotel and not receiving new towels. The chairs in the room and in the lobby all need to be replaced as there was no padding on them and were lumpy. Breakfast was bare bones and they ran out of hard boiled eggs and we did not come down at the end of breakfast. On our last morning we went for coffee at a Starbucks and came back at 9:45am to clean out the refrigerator where we had some snacks for our trip home to find out that they had cleaned our room, thrown out our snacks and our cooler device. This was before we had checked out. Do not stay here unless the hotel is totally renovated. read more

We checked in on a Tuesday afternoon. Since I had already chosen our room and done online check in we were able to get our key quickly. The girl at the desk was friendly and helpful. She told us about an evening reception each night from 5:30-6:30 with beer and food. Our room was great !! King bed with a sofa and desk. Bed was cozy. The shower was great. Fluffy white towels and Neutrogena bath products. First nights reception included cans of beer and soda and lasagna and garlic bread. We weren't expecting such a spread. I'm pretty sure it was Stouffers lasagna but it was pretty good. That was our supper ! The next night we had beer and pierogies. Wow !!! Yummy !!! I want to give a shout out to the lady who works at the weekday breakfast buffet. She was so sweet , friendly and helpful. She obviously loves her job and was doing a great job. The breakfast was quite adequate. The usual waffle makers and also some form of eggs and sausage, cereal and oatmeal. And even fresh cut fruit. I was very happy. I would of given 5 STARS but our room was in the back side of the hotel (which back up to a highway). It is NOISY !!!! Trucks that travel the highway make loads of noise all hours of the day. read more

This hotel has very friendly staff and check-in process was easy peasy, that's where the list ends for good things about this place. Upon entering the hotel, you can tell everything is outdated and not what you'd expect to associate with Hilton name. We had our pup with us so we're assigned to the second floor, the pet floor. The rooms are terribly soundproofed so we could hear people conversing in the hallway and outside the hotel. It didn't help that loud Harleys staying here rolled in with loud music after midnight. That can't be helped by the hotel but it was hard to stay asleep with the loud AC unit pumping every 5 minutes to keep the room at 72. It was bad enough that it made my husband put his second pillow over his head to be able to sleep. I just tossed and turned between 4-7 am until I decided to write this review in bed. The sofa also has an overturned cushion (not going to figure out what that's intended to hide) and visibly dirty arm rests despite having patterns that'a supposed to make it hard to tell it's dirty. We brought our food to the hotel to eat after check-in because of COVID times but we stood to eat instead. We don't get super nice hotels if we don't plan on being in the room much, but it should at least be clean and updated. This spot didn't meet expectations. While it is an easy 15 minute drive from downtown, the ramp to go back downtown has a stop sign for the on-ramp which we found very frustrating to accelerate and get up to speed. Take that into consideration if you're staying here for a few days with the intent to be downtown-- I feel that it's pretty dangerous. read more

**Beware: They may charge you hundreds of dollars for things you aren't responsible for** The hotel was pretty run down upon arrival, but I'm typically not picky and was traveling for a work trip, so I didn't complain. However, upon checkout, I noticed a large, incorrect charge on my receipt. I contacted the hotel for this fraudulent charge and was met with a rude attitude and refusal to help. They claimed we smoked marijuana in a room, which was completely impossible and incorrect, as neither myself or my coworker use any kind of drugs. I stay at Hilton hotels for work at least 3x a month and have never encountered an issue like this. Although I do love the Hilton brand generally, this hotel does not meet their standards on customer service or aesthetics. I do not recommend it and would suggest looking into many of the other excellent Hilton brand hotels in Pittsburgh. **** edited to add that I am happy that hotels DO charge for smoking violations, as I am not fond of the smell/health risks. However, I don't appreciate being told I did something I did NOT do and then being called a liar when I dispute the charge. read more

I could not recommend this hotel enough!!! My friend and I are visiting Pittsburgh for an overnight trip, but unfortunately got a late start and didn't get into town until 3:15am. To make matters worse, when we arrived at our hotel (a competitor's hotel). I realized I had made a reservation for the wrong weekend. The front desk woman at the other hotel told us that we were out of luck and couldn't help us. As two young women miles away from home without a place to stay, we panicked. We called numerous hotels and everywhere told us it was too late to make a reservation for the current day- until we called The Hampton. When we arrived, Mike at the front desk was so incredibly helpful. He got us checked in and offered us beverages while we waited. He was so hospitable and kind in our moment of need. If everyone was as kind and personable as Mike, the world would be a better place. read more

Came in from Louisiana for the 4th of July holiday to tour around and stayed 4 nights here. First, I will compliment the front desk staff. Kara was great with recommending places to eat! However, there were several downfalls to this hotel: 1) Smoking area is right outside the front doors which presents issues for those coming in and out that are allergic to smoke. The smoke also seeps into the lobby. 2) This hotel is pet-friendly which I wasn't aware of. I love animals. However, dogs were everywhere. 3) Hotel is older and needs serious renovations. Our bathroom ceiling was bubbled and the paint was peeling. Additionally, our toilet overflowed and instead of the staff rectifying the situation, we were brought a plunger. 4) The breakfast was just so-so. Very small space that gets super warm with all the hustle and bustle. As a Hilton Honors member, I don't know that this hotel upholds the Hilton standard. It's in a central location that's easy to get to things, but I don't know that I'd stay here again...unless some changes are made! read more

I had a reservation here Sunday 07/21/2019. I am a Hilton diamond member. During the hottest week of the summer the hotel management limited the air conditioning setting to be no lower than 68 degrees. My room never got under 70 and the fan kept stopping. I called front desk and the person said he would try to reach manager. He was unable to connect. I called Hilton and got a room at the double tree across the street and was able to stay in air conditioned comfort. My issue is I opened a case with Hilton to not pay for the room because of the lack of air. There was a ticket opened and the local management of this hotel denied my request to not be billed. They denied it and they even said there was no report of an issue. I will never stay here again. In addition to the issue noted above the furnishings in the room were stained and old. This is definitely not up to a Hilton standard and it honestly felt more like a motel6. Sorry motel6 if I offended you. read more

My wife, in-laws, and I stayed here over 4th of July weekend. It was our first time in Pittsburgh. The desk clerks were very friendly and very helpful with their recommendations, they made us feel welcome. The room was extremely clean and the beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast was excellent! They even provided fresh fruit in the lobby, that you can get any time of the day. They even had free daily newspaper for guests in the lobby as well. The outdoor pool looked inviting, but we didn't take the opportunity to try it out. So if we ever go to Pittsburgh again, this place will definitely be our choice. read more

I stay at this Hampton Inn Green Tree every month (on average). I am a Diamond member with HiltonHHonors and a Platinim member with IHG (Holiday Inn brands) -- definitely I'm a seasoned traveller. I have a love-hate relationship with this property. It's convenient to downtown yet offers more reasonable rates of, usually, less than $150 per night. My dislikes are these: 1.) The rooms are very dated and very dark. Tonight I entertained myself by castint shadow puppets on the walls. There is not adequate lighting for work or enjoyment -- I'd compare the smaller-than-normal rooms at Hampton inn Green Tree to the inside cabin on the lowest level of a cruise ship. The walls are painted a color similar to Grey Poupon mustard ... would it hurt them to lighten things up? 2.) This room is not designed for the business traveller. Case in point: The desk is pushed in the corner with its BACK to the TV. I hate this set-up. Luckily, the desk is on wheels, so that I could move and position it facing the TV ... but is does not allow one to walk past the bed easily. 3) They refuse to offer a 2 p.m. check-out for Diamond members. The reason given to me (by two different people on same night) is that they just don't do it because they don't have enough housekeepers. It would be interesting to see if a housekeeper were to storm the room like a SWAT team precisely at 12 noon. If you are claustrophobic and need to get some quality work done in the evening, consider staying elsewhere. It works in a pinch -- maybe for one night -- but they just don't seem to care much about accommodating guests' needs (e.g. 2 p.m. check-out for Diamond members, extremely poor lighting, not conducive to working in room). read more

I apologize in advance for the lengthy review but I needed to warn other people about this place, specially Hilton Members that time and time again bring business to the brand with our stays. If I could leave 0 star I would, this hotel left something to be desired. I really don't understand how they have 4 stars on Google, all I can think of is managment encouraging their employees, friends and families to write bogus reviews to raise their score. I really don't want to believe a Hilton brand would stoop so low but then again this hotel seem to be run by very rude and unprofessional people so I can't rule anything out. The property was old and outdated. Now I'm not super picky about things like that but when my room smells horrible and the ceiling in the bathroom on top of the tub is cracking and pieces of drywall are falling on me while showering, well that's when we have a problem. I understand a building being outdated but maintenance should never ever fall behind, especially in a Hilton brand. As a Hilton Diamond member that has stay with the brand everytime I travel domestically or internationally, this is not what I have come to expect from them. On top of that the staff was extremely unhelpful, rude and unwelcoming. They all seem like they did not want to be there and were all having the worst day according to their body language and behavior towards the guest. I was traveling with my partner and she's a god damn saint and didn't want to bother anyone or get anyone in trouble, she told me it was just a 3 nights stay and to just let it go, so I didn't say anything while we were there. Now the last drop came when we arrived home and I sat down, and went to check the receipt from the hotel(side note-I usually don't check my Hilton stay receipts till a couple days after check out, but this people did not inspired any confidence in me). I am glad I checked because there was a $267 cleaning fee attached. I immediately called the hotel but the agent said he didn't know what that cleaning fee meant so I had to call back the next day in the morning to speak with his manager Rebecca. I called the next day in the morning and asked to speak with Rebecca, they send me to her voice-mail, so I got tired of being thrown around like a god damn ball and decided to call the diamond desk. They contacted the hotel and put me through to talk to someone(this person was not the manager Rebecca, it was a front desk agent) The lady said the Cleaning Fee was for smoking. Now I was really pissed, I have ashtma and obviously do not smoke at all, and my partner does not smoke either, she doesn't even drink. I explained that it was not possible that we could have smoke in that room and asked what proved they had to make that statement and charge me a fee without even notifying me before leaving the hotel, all the lady said was that it smelled like someone smoked. I reiterated that it was not possible and she kept saying the same thing. At some point she even said "I don't know where you're expecting this conversation to go". I really wish I could have gotten the name of that agent to write it here, because she was unbelievably rude and unhelpful throughout the whole conversation. Plus the diamond desk did not help whatsoever either, they said if the hotel says it smelled like smoke then they can't do anything. Literally all they did was connect me through the front desk to speak to an agent which I could've done that myself. I will be writing to corporate and making them aware of how this hotel is conducting business. I will also be doing a chargeback, I will not be paying for something I did not do just because they want extra money from me. Furthermore you can expect to see this statement in every review platform out there, helping people not fall into the trap that is your property. read more

Due to a family emergency, I stayed at this hotel in mid April. I arrived late in the evening after spending the day at the hospital. The hotel is located in what appears to be a sketchy neighborhood. I'm not really familiar with that part of Pittsburgh, so I'm not sure if it's safe or not. I can only say it didn't appear safe. As soon as I walked in I noticed the lingering smell of cigarettes. I hoped my room would be a different experience. The female working the front desk was indifferent, at best. We are Honors members, and usually are greeted with a thank you for being members and then offered a complimentary snack. Neither of those were forthcoming. I was beat from the day, and just wanted to get to my room to take it easy. I asked about the shuttle, and unfortunately it did not meet my needs to arrive at the hospital by 6:00 AM. I was hit with a serious wall of cigarette smoke mingled with some other odd smell when I entered my room. The room itself was worn and not the cleanest Hampton Inn I've ever stayed in. There was a small couch crammed in to a corner that has definitely seen better days. Just remove it. It doesn't serve any purpose with it's placement in the room anyway. I had calls to make to update family members about my brother, and as I talked it became increasingly harder to breathe due to the smell. By the time I went to bed, I had a raging headache. I was so uncomfortable I decided I would need to find another hotel or sleep in the hospital waiting room for the remainder of the week. I was focused on getting to my brother, before surgery, so I did not want to spend time explaining to the front desk person why I was checking out. I handed in my key and told him I was checking out. He stated that I had reserved the room for a week, and I explained about the smoke. I'm sure he could tell by my raspy voice that something was going on. Instead, he questioned why I hadn't returned to the front desk the night before to inform them of the smell. There were a few reasons.....I was tired. I'm sure hotel staff is well aware of the condition of their rooms (or they should be). I didn't believe that moving to another room or even another floor would be any better. Like the front desk staff from check in, I found this staff member just as dismissive. No apology, nothing. Instead, he told me he would have to check with his manager. In my opinion, he was implying that I could be charged for checking out early. On the flip side, after my brother was in surgery I called another hotel and found a room. I felt so fortunate to find this other hotel. The staff asked about my brother every day, and told me they were praying for him. When I asked about the shuttle at check in, I was told to tell them what time I needed to be at the hospital and they would have me there no matter the time. I spent most of my time in the hospital, but it was nice to know I had a stress free, clean room, with amazing staff to return to each day. read more

Stayed here for one night while meeting family in Pittsburgh! The hotel was very busy and accommodating to all the guests. All of us traveled with our dogs so it was perfect since this Hampton inn is dog-friendly! The pups as well as the adults had a great stay! The hotel is clean, the rooms are a bit smaller than newer Hampton inn rooms, but it worked just fine for sleeping. The hotel offers a free hot breakfast which included pastries, cereal, waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels, fruits, oatmeal, and yogurt! Downtown or Carson street pubs are just a few minutes away by car ride. The hotel does offer a shuttle bus, however we did not use this. The shuttle bus you just sign up for which hour you would like to go somewhere. We didn't know how long we'd be out so we just drove in and found street parking! I recommend stopping into Urban Tap on Carson Street for a great bite to eat! There are so many restaurants and pubs on Carson street that it was hard to choose! Had an issue with check-in, but they fixed it My wife and I had reservations booked through a 3rd party site and when we arrived found out they had overbooked and we were turned away and put up in another hotel that was quite a bit away. Second stay in this area (first was Holiday Inn Express). Impression is just the same. Location is quite comforatable to downtown IF you don't hit traffic on I-376. Room was clean but with light smell of smoke, though we reserved nonsmoking room. Windows don't open (which is a big minus for us). Bed, mattress and particularely pillows were VERY uncomfortable and low quality (have a neck mussles pain and stiffness after the stay). The breakfast was standard, but the fruit salad was just a wast of fruits. So OVERSWEETENED. Don't understand why they add anything to cut fruits. Not tasty and not healthy. The front desk was nice though. Inspite of the lowest price we could find in downtown area no return for us. read more

This is one of my favorite hotels when I come into town. This is my second time staying at this hotel and everyone is so sweet. I get a good night sleep in those comfortable beds. nice and clean rooms stock with plenty of towels. Hot breakfast in the morning with friendly staff.the best part is they have a shuttle that with take you to different location and attractions in town. The is big because you will get loss in Pittsburgh. My GPS loss it train of thought. read more

9/6/2013 The hotel is a bit out of the way, set back from the road; and a bit difficult to find. Making a left turn into their parking lot can be a bit tricky since cars can come from the right on a nearly blind curve. Still, the location is good, several restaurants are nearby, within a short driving distance and the hotel has a shuttle that runs hourly with good hours. We didn't use it because things we did took longer than we planned, but it is a good idea to reserve it early. We heard a bit of grumbling when some people found that it was already reserved for a 2 or 3 hour period. The rooms are decorated nicely and clean. Ours had a sofabed with a couple of footstools. This is a nice touch for tired legs, but they are a bit too tall for the sofabed. The front edge of the sofabed cuts into the thighs a bit. The bed is comfortable. good for a couple of nights. The desk area was functional and actually became our dinner table when we ordered a pizza for delivery on our last night. The free breakfast has a couple of waffle makers and served eggs and meat items. Each day the eggs are prepared differently and a different meat accompanied it. The problem ... the ONLY day with scrambled eggs, there was NOT MEAT selection ... so, it was waffles AGAIN (but meatless!) Everyone on the staff that we talked to was friendly and helpful. read more

Clean, nice hotel in the Pitt area. Has happy hour during the middle of the week, which is nice in a state with odd liquor laws which prevent you from buying beer in small amounts. Staff was friendly, the the beds were comfortable. Decent outdoor pool and a nice workout room. read more
