Wow! I read some pretty sour reviews on this business. And to be honest? My experience was entirely different. Does it matter what day you're there? Maybe. Does it matter who is serving you or working the bar? Perhaps. But one thing I will say. The place was very clean. Even the old wood table I sat at was clean (not sticky like so many are in bars), and the atmosphere cozy and friendly. I could even read the menu in the dimmer lights because they know how to print and present a menu! (who knew?) Also, if you get the chance, try to stop by when Richelle V. is working. She is a very wonderful young woman who tended to all our needs and questions with directness, politeness, and most of all, with a SMILE! The food you ask? Way better than I expected for a bar. I had the cod fish & chips. Thick pieces, moist, and very appetizing. FIVE STARS from me for this wonderful hidden 'secret' in a well-run country bar. We are new to Orting and looking for a regular place to have a drink and a good meal. Well we were greeted with the rudest bartender/server I have encountered in a long time. She was very and I mean very rude to us I am not quite sure how she has a job treating patrons the way she does. Not as if she was busy either there were 4-5 other people total in the entire place. I moved to Orting recently and I am in the process of checking out all the local eateries. I heard from my hairdresser (Lacey Clampit at Hair Hype, nex tdoor) That the Spar Pole had fantastic salads! I thought it was kinda odd that this little hole in the wall could have salads that multiple people have raved about, so I had to test it out! Turns out, they were right! The Salads are VERY good and HUGE! We haven't tried out too much of the food, because I always resort to the salad! My husband did have a burger, he said it was okay. The tater tots are crisp to perfection and their ranch is made from scratch and delish!! The staff here are so nice! There are only a few bartenders, but they are all very welcoming. I recently just came on a Friday night and it was a lot of fun. They have karaoke, pool and darts. The Karaoke was really great because no one sang very well, so we all felt better about our voices! HA! It was semi busy, busier than I thought, but the waitress said it was a slow night. The crowd was very chill. Old, young, wild, quiet etc.. a little bit of everything. It seemed like it was going to be a fun bar from some pictures we saw online and the great reviews of the friendly staff, unfortunately it wasn't. We ended getting the cops called on us. The bartenders decided to refuse to serve one of my friends after: *they charged them for a drink *Gave it to them *Let them walk away with it to the dance floor I completely understand if they wanted to claim that they were cutting my friend off. But in that case why did they charge them for the drink, poured it into a cup and hand it to them? Then the bartender ran up to my friend like she was going to tackle them (so scary). I had to get in the middle because we were all so confused why they big lady was trying to tackle our friend. Such a horrible night. Then they escalate the situation when I allow them to take the drink back and ask for a refund. My friend had not even taken one sip of that drink. Idk why the bartender decided to take the drink back after just seconds of selling the drink to our friend. Then they call the cops on us. Because I asked for a refund. Then they said we needed to leave. So the police officer came, I talked to him and he apologized for the bartenders behavior. He stated they're allowed to refuse service to anyone ( I made it very clear to the officer they hadn't refuse our friends service when they changed them for the drink ). They said we can only make a complaint through the courts to get the money back. Such an unfortunate situation, I only have one nice thing to say about our experience in Orting, the police officer was very professional, honest and understanding. I honestly don't know what would have happened if we would have had a different officer. read more

I had the 8 oz steak and fries for dinner. The fries are outstanding, cooked on the inside, and toasty brown and crispy on the outside. Rarely do I get fries done this well. Although, a lot less salt would be great. Unfortunately, the steak was worse than a total flop. The meat was cut with the grain. As we all know, meat is always cut across the grain, unless it is flank, or similar. Cutting with the grain can make a steak super tough, and this steak was super tough. Also, it was seasoned heavily with only salt and pepper, and no garlic. Yep, steak with no garlic. So, if you want a delicious Rainier Beer in a bottle, and some wonderful fries, hit this place. Otherwise, stay away. And, like a lot of these small town bars, there are what appears to be all locals there, and striking up a conversation with someone is like interrupting the Gettysburg Address... read more

The bartender was great. The food was good. The person in charge of karaoke was horrible. Absolutely horrible. He degraded my friend in a bad way (to me) and as a result it makes me never want to come back. He was a complete dick for no reason. He denied Karoke because of discrimation. Which was not the issue, the issue was how it was handled in a condescending tone. Everyone in the bar loved him. I will not be bringing my money back until he is gone. My friend left upset. The whole point of karaoke is to have fun, not to be talked down to by the "fun police". Extremely disappointed in the way we were treated. read more

We enjoy spending some time here for a few beers & appetizers. The staff & owners are super friendly. The place is very clean & offer a large screen TV for any sports you may want to watch. I highly recommend checking the place out if you haven't. We really enjoy the atmosphere here. read more

I started going here a few months back... (love the juke box)...like any bar it depends on who's working as to the pour....but the price is reasonable for their drinks...bathrooms are clean...my only complaint is they don't have set hours for closing...some nights as early as 930 pm .... (again depending on who's working)....then some nights as late as 1 am on a friday...I was in the bar biz for 8 years. ..6 am to 2 am. .365 24/7....and yes there were many nights that at 10 pm I was empty...BUT....I was ALWAYS OPEN TILL 2AM......all in all its a decent place. read more

We watched alot of people come and go and it has exchanged hands a few times over the years but it is better than ever. We love all our friends that are now our spar pole family. Their beer was overpriced for a small town. 2 PBRs had cost 10 dollars. Then I got gizzards and had a puddle of blood in the corner of the container the gizzards came with.
