I made two appointments a month ago for a Montage 55 minute massage with JJ and a Signature 45 minute HydroFacial with Ja'Nice. This was my 10+ massage and 2nd HydroFacial from the Spalon Montage in Chanhassen. I found JJ when I was pregnant and saw her for Prenatal massages every other week in my 3rd trimester up until I gave birth. I continued to see her postpartum and will only book with her from here on out! She's the highest priced masseuse and for a good reason. My 2nd HydroFacial with Ja'Nice was much more thorough than my first. I felt Ja'Nice really took the time to unclog the most congested areas of my face and I left feeling clean and hydrated! I look forward to booking with both of them again. The Spa has a nice quiet waiting area with a roaring fireplace to keep you calm and cozy. The women's locker room is always clean and I appreciate the complimentary water, tea, and coffee. I enjoy arriving early for my appointments so I can curl up on the couch and read my current book to get Zen. Parking is limited as it is shared with the other tenants in the building, but I haven't had an issue finding a spot. Can't wait to schedule my next treatment! read more

My experience was horrible for the second time. My last appointment began 15 minutes late and my my recent appointment had not started 20 minutes after my scheduled time and no one had come to explain or acknowledge the stylist was running behind. When I went to the front desk the woman was completely unapologetic and offered no reason for the delay. If I had been 20 minutes late to the appointment as the customer, I would have been charged for the service regardless but they didn't even offer me an explanation, just agreed to let me cancel the appointment. I've had many services at Spalon Montage in Edina, and they have all been good. Today's experience was truly superior. I had a facial with Dee. Typically, those who provide the service rub lotion on arms and feet while the facial is doing it's thing. I knew immediately Dee had massage experience because it truly felt like a mini massage! She took such time and care giving me a neck,arm,upper back and foot massage. AND, offered unique advice that I've never received, and I have had many facials over the years. I went in for a haircut in June and will never go back. My regular stylist at Juut was on maternity leave so I figured I'd give this place a try since it's so close to home. BIG mistake The stylist and I talked at great length about what I was looking for I showed her a picture told her how many inches and where I wanted my hair to fall length wise. SHE CUT 4 INCHES OFF MY hair because she was so busy talking and not paying attention. It was way shorter than I wanted, the layering was lopsided and uneven, and the cut was uneven in general. I couldn't even have her fix it at the end of the appointment, and even then the only way to fix it was to take it even shorter! she'd taken so long I had to literally run out of there to make sure I wasn't late for my next appointment. I couldn't watch what she was doing to even say it was too short because their salon is so cramped that she had to have me facing away from the mirror in order to have space to actually cut my hair due to other stylists working in the same area. The haircut was so ugly, not even remotely close to what I wanted and I couldn't even pull the sides back for working out because she had cut it so short. I'll never go back. read more

I went a few months ago for a hair cut by Chelsea and OMG it was the best! The place was easy to access, Chelsea was amazing! She made me feel beautiful! She listened, didn't judge, had fun and put me at ease. The best cut I've had in years and it's grown out lovely! I went from medium length to super short Bob and her process gave not just the best results right away but also for me to maintain. She also suggested a product only after I asked so she wasn't up selling on me. Had a terrible manicure here. I paid a steep price of $45 for a gel manicure that started chipping after only 3 days (gel should last at least 2 weeks). My cuticles looked raggedy - probably because she didn't soak them first or use any sort of solution on them. The manicurist also didn't put any sort of lotion on my hands after. We went here for a ten year old's first manicure. After picking out a fun color and sparkly top coat, she was brought a hot cocoa to drink. The manicurist was really friendly and accommodating to my little friend. She got bored during the drying process but I was able to keep her from wiggling out of it by playing Youtube videos. Iphone saves the day. :-) Spalon Montage is a nice, relaxing place to get a manicure and you can bet that you'll be treated well and enjoy the experience. Every time. A note about the location. It can be a bit challenging to find. Look for the two-story white building with the red awning. I went to get my first-ever chemical peel and I will not be returning back, at least to the Chanhassen location because I have a gift card to use up. This was a service that my dermatologist recommended because I struggle with acne and I had heard good things about Spalon. I booked my appointment two and a half weeks in advance and purposely picked a treatment that I wouldn't have to do a consultation for. While making my appointment I thought it was odd that I didn't have to do anything special because it would be my first time at any Spalon. The day of my appointment comes, and I get checked in and I wait 10 minutes in the waiting area before anyone comes to me. Rachel finally comes and brings three pages worth of documentation. Why wasn't this sent to me to fill out before my appointment so I could have accurate info and not try to remember everything last minute? Why didn't the receptionist have the forms ready for me to complete? By the time I got to start working on the third page, Rachel came out to ask if I was ready and I politely requested more time to work on the form and she gave me a judgey response of "Oh, okay" while looking me up and down. Finally, get into the patient room with Rachel and we start discussing my current skincare and diet that my dermatologist instructed me to do, and she told me that what I was doing wasn't good enough. She wanted me to use their whole line of Spalon products, stop my current acne medication for at least two weeks, start a completely new diet, and get permission from my dermatologist to complete the service. As someone who has always struggled with acne, I was extremely frustrated and on the verge of tears. I already have been using quality products, started using my prescribed spironolactone for a month already, and have been on a sugar-free diet for the same amount of time. I was not about to spend $100 on two products from Spalon, the cheapest one is $50. I also knew that she wasn't going to be able to get a hold of my dermatologist that day, I can never get a hold of my dermatologist the same day I call. Knowing this when I made my appointment would have been beneficial as they would have had the time to speak with my dermatologist. Rachel also said that I would be receiving a follow-up call from Spalon. Here it is a week later and I have heard nothing. Long story short, I did not receive my service, felt completely judged, and will not be returning back. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks ago, for 11:45am. I arrived at 11:46. I watched the young receptionist chit-chat with a customer for 10 minutes before getting me checked in. Then she told be that, because I was 10 minutes late, the stylist could not do my cut and color that day as she had another appointment at 1:00! First, a cut and color takes way longer than 1 hour and 15 minutes, so they are not scheduling appropriately. Second, the ENTIRE reason I was "late" for my appointment is because the only receptionist was gabbing and not timely checking in customers! She had the gall to ask me to reschedule an appointment I had held for over 2 weeks! NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!! read more

I've only had one type of service here (haircut), so I can't review the spa portion of this Spalon. As a hair place, I much prefer this Spalon to the one in Woodbury. It *felt* like an upscale salon to me. Specific Services I've had: - Haircut with Peyton - I picked her randomly because she's cheap ($30). I was really impressed with my cut! I did Locks of Love, so went from long hair to a supershort cut, and she took a lot of time to shape it just right. I am seriously considering making her my permanent hairstylist, even though I live 40 minutes away :) P.S. They ask that you tell them when you make the appt if you're doing locks of love. And, some of the stylists will do the cut for free! read more

Over-all: "Meh". Front Desk: Agreeing with a previous review, I think "indifferent" is accurate. They aren't exactly rude, but they don't seem to have a good understanding of what people expect at a salon that is trying to come across as high end. Ambiance: I have only visited the salon in Chanhassen, but the decor in the waiting area is comfortable and clean. The stylist areas were a bit unkempt during my visits, which I thought was a bit odd. Stylist: I do think that the stylist I saw was well trained and good at what she does. My issue was that she did not seem to understand what I was looking for. I would explain some aspect of what I wanted (i.e. "I don't want to take a lot of time doing my hair every morning") and she would basically explain to me why I was wrong or why I should change what I want. She is very confident in her skills (I swear at one point she flatly stated "I am awesome at this"), but could stand to improve in her client interaction. The problem was that this... miscommunication, let's call it, left me leaving the salon with a cute style the day of, but pretty unhappy with the results afterwards. Because she really is technically skilled, I did try to see her a few times in case the problem was on my end, but the end result each time was the same. This isn't a bad salon, exactly - but I would recommend getting a recommendation as to which stylist you visit. Also, I have found other salons recently that really seem to care about their clientele, which makes a difference in the overall experience. read more

I used to go to this facility when it was in the other location. I just went back to them for the first time at their new location. I LOVE their new location. I go there to have my hair color done. The gal who does it is Amy Frame and she does a fantastic job. I am so happy I am back at Spalon. Years ago.. I used to go to a hair place in downtown Mpls who's name escapes me. They used to have a big dog at the salon. Now Spalon doesn't have that big dog but to me it feels like I am in the "city" as opposed to the 'burbs when I am there. Had my first and last pedi here. First they would not put gel nail polish on my toes, I said I will pay more,my feet afterall.Nope she told me nail polish shld only be worn on toes for two weeks! My nails were not totally cleaned,I had to ask to take more of my hot pink polish off before she started to paint new color.Nails not cut even. Had a wonderful half hour massage. My first experience at any of their facilities. I'm a big fan of treating myself to a massage now & again, and I'd be comfortable recommending their services. Their spa facility was clean and had a very soothing atmosphere. My only complaint would be their front desk staff. A young lady who was seemingly unfamiliar with the area, didn't give very good directions to the facility and really didn't seem to care care much -indifferent is the word that comes to mind. read more

I have gone to SM fr many years. Not once did i hear from my technician that they had reopened. A girl called me to offer one date for gel fill only and no date for pedicure. They are very unwelcoming and lack the manners of a good salon. All of my friends personally texted or called their clients of 15-29 years. I switched to one of them and they did a better job too. I wonder if SM has lost good managers because i know they will lose clients. They must be rolling in money to treat long time regular customers that way. read more

I'm really sad to be posting this review. But I've recently had the strangest experience at this salon. I want to start by saying- the hair stylists are PHENOMENAL. Rosalea is a true artist and works magic with hair. She's done my hair exclusively for over a year and I have gone out of my way to bring my kids here for haircuts as well. Which is why having to write this is heartbreaking. Tonight my husband went in to return a handful of products for me. I've been trying products from this salon and just wasn't finding anything that was working. The latest products I tried had left my hair worse then I've ever experienced- waxy and just disgusting. Well, when my husband went to return these products he was greeted by the manager, Gale. Gale told my husband she will not return any of our products because we've returned things too often (which I've been told every purchase was no problem to return and they wanted me to be satisfied with my purchases. Would not have continued to purchase if I had known this would happen). Not only did she do this with no prior warning before we purchased $200+ of crap products but then continued on to accuse us of bringing counterfeit product? With DRUGS in it? Because they couldn't identify the "substance" in the conditioner... then proceeded to threaten my husband that they would call the police. I was on the phone with my husband LAUGHING. I thought this was some kind of prank. Only to call the store myself and be told the same story by Gale herself. She told me she was uncomfortable with me buying products from them anymore and refused to return what we bought from them. So be aware that they most likely sell counterfeit products to you and then when you return said products because they're junk, they will go on to accuse YOU of bringing back conditioner with drugs in it. This lady is off her rocker. I encourage everyone to continue support the stylists just don't trust the products and know that if you have an issue there is no customer service whatsoever. My husband and I own a construction business by the way, we don't deal conditioner liters of drugs LOL. Absolutely absurd. read more

I got a massage last week and went in hoping to get the tension out of my shoulder area, pressure was fine. I was disappointed because my shoulders were still sore when I left. My husband and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at the spa with a couple's massage. From the moment we arrived staff was very accommodating. They showed us to our lockers where a huge soft robe was waiting and then led us to a cozy waiting area with over-sized furniture and a fireplace. The massage was WONDERFUL. The only reason this review is getting two stars is because I love my usual girl that I go to. I have medium-light brown hair and I always get a caramel/medium blonde highlight. Thin and simple. On the day of my appointment the store called me and told me that my normal stylist would not be in today because she was sick. They told me that I could reschedule or be given a different stylist for the day. I told them I would reschedule. Within 30 seconds of hanging up I was called again with the exact same story. I was hesitant to accept a new stylist but gave in because I wanted my hair done for the holidays. I explained to my new stylist what I wanted and was very confident that she would be able to do this. She seemed like she knew what she was doing. Halfway through foiling my hair she told me that she JUST learned this new method to foil that she's using on me. For starters, the color was completely off. It was extremely blonde and thick in some places but then thin and a different blonde in others. The foils did not touch my scalp and was no way near close to it. I still had at least an inch and a half of outgrowth. She told me multiple times if I didn't like it to come back in. I also got a haircut on this day and you cannot even tell it was cut. Worst haircut of my life. I hated it. I called the next day for a new appointment and was rescheduled with the same stylist free of charge. The color meshes horribly with the previous color from a few days ago. It looks extremely "stripey" and unnatural. She pretty much made all of the hair on top of my head blonde and the bottom stayed its normal color. There is still a ton of outgrowth on my hair. The highlights are WAY too thick. There are also a few noticeable bleed marks. During my second visit the brush scraped my scalp many times. It hurt so bad. My scalp still hurts from it 6 hours later. She also ripped a ton of hair out of my head and was not gentle. Needless to say I will never go back to this stylist. However, I love Spalon Montage and will continue to see my normal stylist. I will be calling the store tomorrow to complain. read more

I've gotten a few massages here and cannot say enough about this place. Everyone is so nice and the 'living room' you wait in before your massage is so relaxing. Most recently I had Trista do my massage and that girl, wow, do not think that because she's petite that she won't really work you!! I had some pretty tough spots in my shoulders that she worked HARD but did so good at not focusing on it to the point of pain so that I could handle it. (I'm also kind of a wuss) She was fantastic and I will definitely go to her again. Also, after my massage she got me a warmed neck pillow to wear for a few min and that pretty much sealed the deal on my love for her and this location. went there for hilights and color. had gone many times in the past for a cut, and it was frequently great. when I arrived, I saw my colorist getting a manicure. my appointment was at 1pm and by 1:02, she was still getting her nails done. I was shocked. the front desk staff told me it was just gels, so they wouldn't have to dry and she'd be right out, as if that was ok, no problem for me to wait while she spends my appointment time getting her nails done. ??? beyond shocked! what is the deal with that salon? She also did not listen to me and did not put the hilights where I asked or the amount of hilights I requested. She argued with me. I had to return to get more put in. this salon and the edina location waste your time, making you come back for another 2.5 hours to fix their negligent mistakes. and, stylists are inconsiderate. read more
