The space is cozy and feels like everything is placed properly (is that 'good flow?'). I love the services that are offered and may have to try something new. Meanwhile, this is where Erika, my Style Goddess, is working her magic. If you want a terrific haircut (bonus: She's a certified Deva Stylist!) and the VIP treatment, get in her chair! The day of the appointment I got a call from someone else (stylist B) saying that she was running 20 min behind and asked if I could come 20 min later than scheduled, I said sure and that's what I did. I get there and stylist B greets me, this is when I realized she isn't the person I booked with, based on the picture. She said "your haircut is now with Stylist C and pointed to another woman standing by the desk. I had no choice in the matter and was already very annoyed but the switch ups but didn't feel like I could say no, plus I needed a haircut. Let's just say I was less than thrilled with stylist C and the haircut I ended up with. Also very unhappy with how unprofessional stylist B was, she never mentioned she is taking over my appointment, and she called to change the appointment time and was still unavailable. I also want to mention that I emailed the salon sharing my disappointment and have not heard back at all.. no apology, explanation or anything. So if you have a preference for a stylist make sure they don't change things up on you! Very disappointing customer service.

I want to share my incredibly distressing experience at Lua Nova Salon. I walked in excited for a new hairstyle, having shown the stylist a picture of what I wanted--a long bob (LOB) with layers. However, from the very first cut, I sensed something was off. The stylist next to mine reacted with wide eyes, looking back and forth between my hair and the floor, which immediately raised my concerns. Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed as the stylist butchered my hair. Instead of the layers I requested, I left with a blunt cut short bob that was nothing like what I had envisioned. To make matters worse, I was asked to leave while still in shock and tears. My distress made the stylist uncomfortable--yes, MY tears over my butchered hair were making HER uncomfortable. I was asked to leave looking like this, which made the situation all the more horrifying. I can't believe I walked into a place where, within 15 minutes, all my hair was chopped off, and I was treated as if I were the issue. I felt dismissed and invalidated during a moment that was deeply personal to me. I cannot express how heartbroken I am over this experience. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. I strongly advise against sitting in Emma Carlson's chair, as my experience with her was nothing short of horrendous. Please be cautious if you decide to visit this salon. I don't look as tired with them on. I was happy my girl, Gina was able to fit me in her schedule on a recent visit to Minnesota. She does a phenomenal job. I highly recommend Gina and this salon if you need lashes, hair care, pedicures or manicures. Gina's salon is clean and beautiful. They screen each guest prior to each service to prevent the spread of the virus and I'm happy to see the level of precautions being taken. So if you are looking for a fab salon, look no further!

Each one has accommodated my needs and done a great job. I took away a star because of the terrible front desk service I receive nearly every time I call/visit the salon. The lady that seems to always be there in the mornings and early afternoons make me not want to return to the salon. My appointments are constantly screwed up, either with the wrong person, wrong date, wrong time, wrong service - anything that could go wrong seems to go wrong when she books my appointments. Also, calling to book an appointment is a pain, and some mornings I just don't have the extra 7-8 minutes to book a simple appointment. I can't tell you the number of times I have put off booking an appointment because I don't want to sit and listen to lengthy spiels that I can't even understand (I know it's not her fault for having an accent - but as a owner/manager you need to think about your customers). Overall I would rate the stylists and atmosphere a solid 5, but they really need to reconsider who they put at their front desk.

I like the hair cut to be pretty simple for styling later. Pretty much if you can let it air dry, then brush out with minimal to zero products later and it looks good, that's my go-to. Since I often wear my hair on either side rather than down the middle, she does a cut with a middle part. I have shorter hairs in the top middle and a "cow lick" in the back with less hair, she styles it very nicely so you can't tell. I also like the particular salon as they use vegan products. They have a vegan hair color line as well. I am the type of person who often looks at ingredients and far too often I will not buy or use a product that has harsh chemicals especially if more than one ingredient listed has a rating of more than #4 on the ewg website. In recent years I've noticed quite a quick response to sensitivities from foods and ingredients in products. Thankfully the products used here I haven't had a negative response to anything. I don't know about the other staff as I only know Anne, but I would recommend this place. Location: if you need to get some shopping in, eat some food, or get gas, they have lots in just a few blocks. One of my favorite cafes is just 10 minutes north in Anoka - I believe it's called American Bistro Cafe, it's located in a floral shop. The cafe is open from approximately 9a-3 & they serve lunch at 11a. The woman is a cousin of a client who recommended the place. The owner makes all her soups and bakery items from scratch & they are so tasty! I like the locally owned shops as they tend to have some good hearted, happy people working there. My daughter (10) had some pink added to her hair and a trim. Turned out beautiful-she was very happy! A week later she wanted to add some tinsel and I was way overdo for a cut. Miranda did a wonderful job on both of us. I also saw (what I believe) the owner and another stylist working at the same time. Everyone there is so personable and friendly. My husband and son have been clients for forever, even when they were in Ramsey, going roughly every 3 months or so. It's a great spot with wonderful people. Anyone you see, you'll be in great hands.
