We had originally contacted Ron (the owner of Excel Awning & Shade) in 2021 about replacing a cover…read moreto an existing manually controlled awning (about 15 years old, and not installed by his company). He said he'd do it, so we kept him in mind for the job. In May 2023, we decided to simply replace the whole awning and go high tech. Ron came out to review the details of the project, and he's a guy that is always on time. Ron's a very personable guy and lays out your options and cost very clearly. We selected their "Eclipse Retractable Shading System" that is powered by Somfy System, which specializes in motorized solutions for homes and buildings. My wife picked out the color and fabric of the cover and we could not be happier with the way it turned out. The day of installation went very well. Ron had two guys remove, cut up, and haul off the old awning and install the new one. Ron was here and did the final setup. The system comes with remotes that work well. We added Somfy's TaHoma Wi-Fi system that works great and is easy to setup from your smart phone. We love it. Our new awning is providing great valve to our home. Ron and his team will be there to provide excellent support if needed. We highly recommend Excel Awning & Shade.

I thought it might collapse soon. We talked to a few contractors, but no one seemed interested or had enough expertise to reattach this. It seemed like a difficult job. Then I called Gulf Coast and they were awesome. I sent them photos and they immediately said they could do the job and arranged a perfect day and time for us. They sent a crew over this morning, managed by a very knowledgeable and capable young man named, I think, Boris (I might have the name wrong). He looked it over, explained their plan, and they did the job perfectly in about an hour. The awning is now very securely reattached. And for an excellent price. Every so often you find on Yelp a company with extremely high competence, easy to communicate with, and with very reasonable pricing. Gulf Coast is a perfect example of this. Could not recommend them more highly!

Catio that changed my house and my life…read more Last June I had Conroe Awning and Screen install the screened in Catio in my back yard. It was a big purchase to me and I picked Conroe Awning and Screen out of 7 other quotes because Luis listened to what I was looking for most. I wanted a place where I could bring my cats outside and not be attacked by weather or bugs. He said this was possible with a foam insulated roof and pet screening. There was a similar design style I liked my neighbor had and he knew he could match it. Then I mentioned about future proofing it with electrical and he even worked that into the mix. After I signed the quote the wait was tough for the factory to create the materials but once the materials were in the build and install was only 1 day! It was crazy. The installers were organized and helpful throughout the process. Picking and choosing height of the kick boards, ceiling, and where the screens should end were all decided upon before the install began. The installers had some great advice here too like leaving some lips for rain drift and not pushing the screen all the way to the roofs end. I used the Catio that night and have been using my back yard more than I ever have. My cats love it too and will wait by my back door at times wanting to go outside to watch birds. The pet screening on the Catio also keeps animals out. I have a few squirrels using it as a vertical highway now but at least they are not coming inside. If you are considering an awning, screening, or catio, Conroe Awning definitely has the best price and your best interest in mind.
