When planning at stay in Calistoga, it's probably best to make a reservation for a spa if that's something you're interested in. Don't be like me, struggling to find a place on a Saturday. I was able to book a last minute couples mud bar and bath house appointment within 20 minutes from my call (fortunately we were staying 3 minutes away so I don't recommend last minute calls) as well as a couples massage. The operator was super informative and although we didn't bring bathing suits for their pool, she did suggest checking out their front room shop for available bathing suits to order. To my surprise they had sizes from xs-xl. The spa is pristine and beautiful. Everything was calming and relaxing, from the locker rooms, to the relaxing room, mud sauna, bath house, chair, to the massage. I didn't know what I was in for, but it was all worth every penny. The mud bar was interesting by being able to choose what oils we wanted and slathering it on ourselves while being able to relax in a sauna room. The outdoor shower was a great shock to the body with rinsing off the mud, but it felt wonderful. The bath house was relaxing, however I'm the type to always have my mind wander. It was nice to lay in a soaking tub as well as the zero gravity chair. The massage, wow. I believe his name was Chris but he got ALL the knots. He even was able to change up the pressure accordingly without me having to direct him. I literally slept like a baby after that spa day. You can use their hot spring pool but since we had no bathing suits, we opted for wine and the relaxing room. I really was blown away with this place!

See you again next time, thanks. -2019

Had a wonderful time in 2019, just found my receipt from our visit... Thank you for accommodating us very well.. :) ;)

Recommended by our wedding coordinator, and this did not disappoint!! We first had breakfast. Quiet outside table, just something simple, with coffee. Then spa and massage time!! One of the good ones here. Knots, pings, and bumps all rubbed out. Then my favorite, the steam room. It's the best when you can just be there alone, in you thoughts, talk to God, and know that he's heard you. After the steam room, we got into the "hot tub" and then finished off with a shower. They have everything you need

We wanted to experience the the famous mud treatments that we heard so much about when planning our trip to Calistoga, but it was difficult finding experiences that could accommodate a group of 3 (I was going with my 2 sisters for bachelorette trip). My sister ended up finding Spa Solage and was told we could do the mud slide together, so we booked it. Upon entering, the spa is very modern, bougie - definitely looks high-end which is good since the prices are higher-end. The locker room was clean, plenty of amenities. We started with the mud slide, we met up with our technician who set us up with our pails of mud - you get to choose your essential oils - I chose the muscle soother (we went day after hiking) and my sisters chose stress relief. You then enter the mud treatment room where you slather the mud all over your bodies and let it dry before the technician tells you to rinse off. Next you proceed to the soaking tubs with bath salts followed by the sound chair where they cocoon you and the chair vibrates to the music being played in your headphones - very futuristic utopian. Note - the soaking tubs and sound chairs are both in rooms set up for 2 people so if you are in a group larger than 2, you will only be together for the mud treatment room and then have to split up felt the remainder of the experience. As for the treatment "effectiveness" - don't know if it made a difference aesthetically or physically - I think my skin felt a bit smoother/softer. Though, of course, relaxing, in general, is always good for emotional and mental health. Once you finish with the sound chairs - you're free to explore the geothermal pools. Don't be afraid to try the cool plunge pool - it truly is invigorating dipping into those frigid waters and then plunging right back into the heated 100+ degree pools. The geothermal pool areas were well-maintained and you can order drinks to be brought to you - we enjoyed a chai and a mango cocktail. Overall, a very "treat yourself", relaxing, luxurious experience.

I got a massage the week before Christmas. Everyone was super friendly and I love the white locker rooms. Unfortunately the ethical hopes for such an establishment were not met. I signed up for a 90 minute massage and was told it was over and to get dressed 15 minutes early. Then when I went to pay the therapist must have communicated he ended early. The receptionist told me they waived the parking fee (like15$ or something for not staying at the hotel but getting a treatment). She said she waived it because my massage was cut early. As I'm pulling out I realize my massage was over $300 for cutting it short 15 minutes it cost me $75. Why would you still charge me the full price of a massage I didn't ask to end early? I felt sucker punched! Disrespected! I wanted to let it go but I felt/feel very taken advantage of. Unable to reconcile the experience, I called a few days later to speak with management. I was told they were in a meeting and I was assured they would return my call after. No one ever called. It's now 6 weeks later and I still can't get over how violated I feel by this experience. In my head- Like who do you think you are to steal from your clients??? All in all, if you have money to burn and don't care about wasting it then this is your spot. But if you're like me and you work really hard for you money and you don't want to be ripped off, go somewhere that will respect and honor that!!

So I did end up enjoying my treatment here a lot but I do feel like the wording on the spa menu is a bit misleading. I was interested in doing some sort of mud treatment but I've heard that the mud baths aren't really hygienic as one might believe. I liked the idea of having the mud applied instead. It was perfect when I saw on the website that "After an attendant assists with your mud application..." because I took that to mean that someone actually puts the mud on you. The attendant only helps you mix the mud with your choice of an essential oil and show you to the room. You put the mud on yourself. You can also book this treatment as a couples or group treatment. Instead of having a more relaxing time you can have a grown up mud fight where you slap mud on each other which is also fun but totally not what I was initially expecting. After you have the mud on, you lay down in a heated room. They also provide cucumber slices for your eyes and a cold compress that you can put on your forehead. There was also ice water in there for each of us. This first part of the treatment is about 20 minutes long. The attendant knocks to give you a heads up to shower off the mud a little bit before your time is up. At that point you shower either in the room or using their outdoor showers. The next step is a mineral baths. They had 2 bathtubs set up with bath salts infused with our choice of essential oils. You could use them as a scrub or just let them dissolve in the bath water. We had a little Goldilocks situation where my partner's tub was too small and mine was too big for me. Once the water got a little lukewarm I opted to add some more hot water which I was able to do myself. Again there was ice water available for both of us. The last part of the treatment was the rest portion. This was in another room that had 2 of their zero gravity chairs set up. They recline so that your legs are higher than your heart which is supposed to make it a little easier on your cardiovascular system. There are speakers embedded in the chair that emit vibrations from peaceful music being played. There are also headphones that you wear. The assistant helps swath you in blankets and an optional neck pillow. We were also provided with eye pillows. This was probably the most relaxing portion of the experience for me. I was very close to falling asleep and it was hard motivating myself to get out of the chair afterwards. There was a $25 fee added on for each person because we didn't stay at the resort. If you purchase a treatment you have access to their pools, sauna, and steam room as well. I felt like the pool area left a little to be desired if I compare them with other water wellness spas that I've been to. All of the pools looked like workout swimming pools and there was no signage about the temperature of the water. I do appreciate that they have poolside service for food and drinks but that only runs until 3pm. There are lockers for use and robes and slippers to borrow. They had pretty good amenities in the change rooms. There was a swimsuit dryer, all manner of hair products and accessories (although I wish there were some pins available). If you've forgotten anything before your treatment, there is a spa shop. They sell a lot of athleisure wear and bathing suits. They also have everyday wear that is on the higher end in terms of pricing.

My experience here was absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend and I came up on a Sunday from the Bay Area for a day of pampering. Saturday evening at 7:30PM, I called Spa Solage and they were able to get us in the next day for a couple's mudslide treatment. It was one of the most relaxing, quaint, and serene experiences I've ever had. To have done it as a couple made it even more romantic. You start by disrobing in the locker rooms and walking over to the bar where you choose your essential oils that'll be mixed with your clay. I can't imagine having done this process in swimwear - but to each his/her own. Then, you're walked over to the room in which you'll be applying the "mud." There is a platform in the middle on which you lay after having applied your mud. You shower (either inside or outside - we opted for outside because we hadn't done that before) and then you're placed into a mineral bath with a salt scrub. Whoa! My skin has never felt suppler/softer. After that, you're walked over to a room that has "zero gravity" chairs. I definitely was able to nap for a short while. After our treatment, we were able to enjoy the spa's facilities. They have 5 bodies of water! And they're warm. They offer poolside service - your food is kept hot as it is brought over from the kitchen. Might I add, the sole tacos from the restaurant are the best fish tacos I've ever had. Incredible, seriously. Everyone was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. I am already thinking about which spa treatment I'd like to try next. The locker rooms are equipped with feminine hygiene products, q-tips, blow-dryers, a straightener, combs/brushes, ample counter space, clean showers, secure lockers, etc. As soon as I got home, I knocked out. Thanks to Anthony for providing us with such an enjoyable, thorough experience!

Lovely spot for a girls day out. Indoor spacer is beautiful - the locker and changing room areas and calming and classy. My girls friends and I opted for the mud slide experience. The clay slather is a self application - messy but fun. The mineral tub soak and gravity chairs that followed were blissful. All the treatment rooms were clean and hygienic. They serve some amazing teas which help you relax and enjoy the moment. The mineral spa pools are not as fancy as they look in the pictures but still a nice experience. Such a pity they shoo you out by 6.30p.m - it will be nice later in the evening especially in summer. I can't comment on the service since I chose a DIY gig, except that it was courteous and efficient. Pricing is a tad steep for the massages but I do want to try it another time. My group had a fab time and everyone came out relaxed and smiling. Recommended!

It was a wonderful escape, especially during the winter with their Olympic size mineral spring pool. It was/is magical to see the steam rising off the springs and looking up at the stars at night with my daughter. She was a stressed out middle schooler/high school student when we 1st discovered ISR. At the time, it was a little pricey, but something we could afford occasionally. Now, let's just say big buckets of money. My daughter is now a doctor and married, and she recently visited for the holidays. I looked for something special for a relaxing time because of holiday travel and their work lives. I was so lucky to speak to Eli to inquire about a 2 day stay. Out of all our visits I feel this was the friendliest conversation and pretty much booked it because of Eli. She booked at a very busy time my special requests. The rooms were very nice, clean & comfortable. I booked two rooms but did not want them side-by-side. Maybe just a couple of rooms apart but in the same building. Can you believe I had the nerve to ask this during the Christmas season? She not only did not laugh in my face, but she actually booked it perfectly. I have to say this is the first friendly and personal service I've ever received at Indian Springs. It is a very popular place so I will give them that. Thank you Eli for giving my family & I a very wonderful & relaxing memory. Best to you and Happy New year. P.S. When we arrived we were given a quick tour of the women's side and shown the locker room to change into the robes and sandals they provided for us. Now, time for the mud bath! After reading reviews I was a little nervous for this part particularly because people said it can be claustrophobic and you have to be completely naked to do it. So for all my modest girlies, it is OPTIONAL to be naked. We wore our bikinis no problem! However I do recommend wearing a dark color swim suit so the mud doesn't mess it up. Anyways, the mud bath was amaaazingg. It felt like a warm blanket. After that you shower the mud off and are escorted to a hot tub soak for 20 minutes. Here they give you cold water (and always refill it as needed), a pick to get any dirt out from under your nails, and a nice cold towel for your forehead. Next, we were taken to sit in a sauna for around 10 minutes. After the sauna we were taken to the 'blanket wrap' area. You lay on a small comfy bed, they cover you in a blanket, place cold cucumbers and a cold wash cloth on your eyes and you relax there for 15 minutes. This was so nice however it is in the middle of where they are taking guests from the lobby to the mud bath room so it was pretty noisy and hard to relax. We weren't offered any ear plugs either as I've seen some others were. We set up 50min massages right after so it was on to the next from the nap area. This was really a highlight for me. They have a beautiful Buddha pond exclusive to spa guests that is surrounded by chairs to relax in. My massage by Rachel was wonderful! I wish it were longer, she did such a great job. They have the most comfortable massage beds I've ever used. After our massages we got some tea and a blanket and sat by the pond. Very peaceful & relaxing. Finally, we went up to check out the mineral pool. It was the perfect temperature. We were so happy to see they had a small restaurant so we could order some food while we sat by the pool. There was also a separate adults only pool. Cons - - There's no food besides at the pool. The pool pass is $50/day so I'm not sure if you can order food if you don't purchase the pool pass. The spa offers nuts, dried berries, and orange slices. But by the end of our services we were starving for more of a meal. - Bathrooms. There's only one single bathroom on the women's side and if that's occupied then you have to use the only other one on the men's side. Or you can use the ones outside by the Buddha pond. Overall, I would definitely return to Indian Springs Resort! This was a true relaxing spa day that you can't find in many other places in the area.

The hotel is over 100 years old and it's maturity is part of its charm. There was some work being performed in a guestroom on the 2nd floor but they worked on it for short periods every day. Love the strategy. There is no insulation on guestroom doors so it's easy to hear conversations and heavy slamming doors. There is no elevator so the 2nd floor doesn't appear to be Accessible. There are rooms on the 1st level however. The jacuzzi was wonderful and hot Tuesday morning but lukewarm on Thursday morning. Front desk staff state every now and then a guest inadvertently turns it off, and did so Wednesday night by pressing the Emergency button (instead of the timer for the jets). Bummer. It took hours for it to reheat. Maybe a sign for the jets could discourage that from happening again. Check In & Staff: Male staff were friendly and helpful - especially Manny!! The hotel does have a luggage cart but it won't help those staying on the 2nd floor since there is no elevator. However 2 of the guys volunteered to follow me outside to the car to retrieve my luggage. Soooo much appreciated! They not only carried them upstairs to my room but came back to carry them again when I relocated to a different room. They wouldn't even except a tip! Thanks guys! My heros. Other staff: The female staff at the front desk wasn't as friendly but maybe she had an off couple days. No eye contact, acknowledgement, or smile. She did engage however when spoken to. All other staff - housekeeping (especially), maintenance, painters, etc., were genuinely friendly and helpful. It made my stay relaxing which was much needed! Thanks again. Breakfast: Staff prepare a daily breakfast tray that's delivered to each room at your preferred time. Breakfast consisted of FRESH and DELICIOUS breads, lemon cake, a tangerine, and a warm pot of mild-blend coffee. Room: Towels were fluffy, soft, good-smelling, and appeared new! The linen and robes were fresh and clean. The room was well furnished and the environment inviting. The bed was on the firm side but was very comfortable. I had to remember not to sit on the edge too long though because the ribbing on the edge of the mattress hurt. There was no bottled water in the room but there was a carafe to be filled with ice/water at the Hydration Station located on the 1st floor. It would have been nice to have a Station upstairs too or bottles of water for upstairs guests. Having a mini fridge and safe in the room was a nice touch. A microwave somewhere for guests (use) would have been nice for reheating leftovers. Window screens would have been nice to enjoy fresh air in the room without bugs. Bathtub stopper should probably be replaced because it was old, discolored, and soiled. Bathroom walls could use a little touch-up paint but none of those issues were big deal breakers for me. The things that could have definitely been better in the room were the loud bathroom fan (and the inability to turn it off independently from the light switch) and the hum from the mini fridge. The fridge clicks on/off 24/7, and at night when its quiet the hum is annoying. Glad I brought adapters for electronics since there are standard electrical outlets only, and no place to plug in USB cords. Check Out: Payment for your room is deducted from your credit card at the beginning of your stay when you check in. To check out you can drop your room keys in the box at the front desk. I chose to wait (10 minutes) for staff to return to the desk for a receipt. Value: I didn't visit the hotel spa this visit. However even with the Spring Special the hotel seems a bit overpriced, and without the spa is probably closer to a 3-star hotel. Caveat though is that everything in Calistoga appears to be overpriced - after all it's a resort town. Love the peace and tranquility though. Overall a really nice stay and I definitely recommend.

For Mom's birthday in December, 2022, I treated her to a mini vacation to Calistoga, staying at the…read moreMount View Hotel & Spa. BOOKING: Below are our hotel RESERVATION DETAILS: Arrival Date: December 21, 2022 Departure Date: December 23, 2022 Average Room Rate Before Tax: $191.25 with a 15% AAA discount Room Type: Petite Queen Guestroom Total Room & Tax: $440.62 Deposit Policy: Deposit required of first night's stay plus tax ($233.27) and any hotel guest packages to secure reservation. I booked our room (initially for checking in on December 19 and checking out on December 21) directly via their website, paying a $233.27 deposit, but after reviewing the Reservation Confirmation, had to reach out to the team because the 15% AAA discount off of the $225/night rate was erroneously calculating to $202.50/night instead of $191.25/night. Guest Services confirmed that there was a glitch in their system and they quickly corrected the error. A couple of days later, I reached out again to request to move our stay dates. The request was granted without issue. HOTEL: Mount View Hotel and Spa is a Mission Revival style boutique hotel and historical Landmark nestled in the heart of Calistoga. No onsite parking lot; however, we were able to easily find free parking nearby. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by the warmth of the inviting lobby and vibrance from its eccentric interiors. With peppy Art Deco décor and furnishings, the inn boasts a charming ambiance that takes guests back to the 1920's and 1930's era. We stayed on the second floor in Room 221, a chic bedchamber with nods to the early 20th century, furnished with a high-quality, comfortable bed, flat-screen television, espresso machine, fridge, and glassware for self-catering. HOTEL SERVICE: The front desk staff, especially Manny, was extremely friendly and helpful. One night, when I couldn't find unmetered parking, Manny assured me that parking overnight in the metered spaces along the front of the hotel on Lincoln Avenue would not trigger a citation, even during the metered times. Seeing that I was apprehensive to do this, he promised to cover the cost of a parking ticket, if I would receive one. He was right; the timed metered parking was not enforced the next day. The complimentary light coffeehouse-style continental breakfast with fresh coffee, tea, fruit, juice and pastries, delivered directly to our room each morning was also very nice. TRUE SPA CALISTOGA: The whimsical accoutrements continue in the spa. No showers, but small, private lockers with robes and slippers are assigned to each patron. Since we were staying at a spa hotel, we booked appointments for restorative spa experiences, for Thursday, the 22nd, at 2:00 PM. It was very convenient to stumble downstairs for facials and revitalizing body treatments + massages. Our appointments were for the Detox + Glow (90MIN) (BODY THERAPIES) package, a relaxing combination of upper body massage (neck, arms, and shoulders) paired with a facial focus using Blue Beautifly Organic Skincare alongside the Bentonite Clay Mud Mask to nourish the body and skin head to toe. 90 minutes for $280 included a fully body massage. I was assigned to technician Rosa Cisneros who was very nice. The sessions were soothing and relaxing; however, Mom and I were confused at the conclusion, thinking that we were still to receive a full body mud mask or wrap, as per the description of the Detox + Glow package. Due to no mud mask, we were given a 15% discount. VERDICT: Mount View Hotel & Spa is a charming establishment and perfect place to slow down time and enjoy a respite.

Going in: I drive 3 hours a day, twice a week, and work on my computer a ton. On top of being pregnant, I was achey everywhere. My back, my glutes, my neck, shoulders, etc. My 90 min Prenatal Massage: Incredible. I read Marcos's reviews ahead of time, so I already knew I was going to be in good hands, but I didn't expect to be even more blown away!! It was almost like as soon as he touched one spot, he knew exactly how much work needed to be done there and how tense he was. Actually, Marcos knew where I was tense more than I did, and as he worked on the rough spots, I felt myself loosen up. He used a lot of techniques that I could tell took years to build up to know how to use. Also, Marcos had a lot of knowledge on how to give a pregnancy-safe massage which made me feel really grateful to be in safe hands. I feel like a new person after this massage. It made me sad when it ended. Marcos: He was so easy to work with, really easy to book online, and most importantly made me feel comfortable and we even laughed quite a bit throughout the massage. I respect his work so much, and he doesn't seem to get tired. He has many years of experience (since 1996) and you can feel it in your body! Location: really nice location in Calistoga, near Downtown Calistoga and Indian Springs. I cannot recommend Marcos enough. I wish I lived closer so I could come more often! Thank you Marcos!!! I'll find an excuse to come back.

He worked on my upper body for the hour and I left feeling so relieved and pain free. Marcos is professional and friendly. My husband and I were visiting Castello Di Amorosa and this was close by so I booked last minute and Marcos was very accommodating. I wish I lived closer I would have definitely been a regular. He is phenomenal and knows exactly what his clients need. Thank you Marcos !
