Let's talk about what I did like, first. Cute little lips 3D style artwork on the landscaped grounds via my pictures on here. The manager on duty, Genavieve, went above and beyond to try and make us feel comfortable. She brought us glasses of champagne. She brought us towels for both the heated pools (it was raining) and the outdoor showers. Provided robes. Asked how our experience went. Genavieve was 5 stars worthy! We also had booked two massages for myself and my girlfriend who happens to be a massage therapist and spa business owner. I exited my massage and right away my GF asked, "what is that on your neck? Are those scratches?" Stephanie gave me a really terrible massage. I don't even know where to start. I said relaxing, it was NOT. I asked for light pressure/swedish/relaxed. It was pointed pressure points, deep tissue style, and at one point during I actually exclaimed, "OW!" during her bodywork on my arms. She had no alternative style movements even when I clearly stated the pressure was entirely too much. I left with visible neck scratches that were photographed for record still in my robe and presented to the manager. Even though she comped 20% for this very uncomfortable spa experience, the forced automatic gratuity on the bill actually makes our visit just sub-par / awful. I am giving 3 stars because we did enjoy the heated pools; we did sip the complimentary champagne, and we did hang out for a bit...... but to leave an expensive 50 minute SWEDISH massage feeling actually sore and scratched because the therapist did not have her nails trimmed is one hundred percent unacceptable and I am mentioning it here to almost give other visitors that heads up. The massage I received was terrible! As always, thank you for reading.

Melanie is amazing at massage. Hands down one of the most relaxing, calming massages I have ever had. I am pretty sure I fell asleep multiple times. Very cute property past all the hubbub of the main drag of Lincoln. There are nice trails nearby, and the hotel is super cute. Great outdoor space that is quiet. Spa registration is behind hotel registration. Separate entrance near the "200" block of rooms. Parking is not great, so get there early - especially if you are not a guest of the hotel. That said, another helpful tip is that if you are not a hotel guest, you have up to two hours before your appointment to use facilities. If you stay there, you have all day. The pool area is uncovered, except for jacuzzi. So, if it's raining... good luck. Although, I do love that they gave me an umbrella when it started raining. The spa lounge and rest area had lots of hot tea and adult coloring books. It was such a lovely place to chill between appointments. Steam room was nice. Very friendly staff. So nice and accommodating. Locker situation kinda weird and uncomfortable, especially if there is a large party waiting for treatment. Could use a bit more privacy.

Can't lay out on a chilly day, relax in the heated pool instead.

The massage with Stephanie was amazing! I'm a travel nurse, so I get massages all over the country. This was by far a top 5. Before my massage I was able to spend time at the pool. The pool was heated and felt great on the cool day. I wish I could of spent more time there. The receptionist was great as well.

I love this place! Friendly and welcoming staff, and great customer service. I came here for a massage and my masseuse was Sue. She did an INCREDIBLE job! She asked what were my problem areas and I told her my right shoulder. Before the massage started, she wanted to confirm exactly where it was hurting on my shoulder. She was able to easily locate the area and noticed I was tense. During the massage, she actually focused on my shoulder! I get a ton of massages and when I'm asked where I'm hurting, they never give it much attention during the massage. She for sure knew what she was doing and I came out feeling like a new person. I would definitely come back and request for Sue When I make a trip out to Calistoga or the napa area and I'm telling all my friends Prior to your massage, there's a separate locker room for men and women with showers and a restroom. Once your changed into your robe, you wait in this lobby area for your massage. The place itself was real nice and cute. They have an outdoor patio area with outdoor showers, beach chairs, Hammocks and it was a wonderful place to lounge in. They even offered you water and hibiscus tea which was tasty. With a spa service, you can enjoy their pool and they have adult hour around noon which was soooo relaxing. No kids jumping in and out of the pool at that time so it was nice and quiet, got my tan on, and they had 2 pools and a hot tub. (The pool is also shared with guests that stay here). I think one pool was more of a shallow pool but I'm not sure since I didn't go in that one. There's tons of areas to tan, and they had a lot of cabanas. Would I come back? Definitely!

Great spa experience here! Got a prenatal massage with Kirsten who was AMAZING!!! Seriously one of the best massages I've ever had. Beautiful locker room and lounge area. It was a cold weekend so I didn't spend any time outside but they do have a nice outdoor area with lots of seating and hammock. Would be a fun girls spa day/bridal shower spot! The entire place is very instagrammable and peaceful. One downside is that there is no dedicated hot tub or pool just for the spa-it's shared with the hotel. Unless you have an earlier spa time and go to the pool area between 12:30-2:30, you'll be contending with noise from kids. I did a 10:45 massage and so was able to lounge and enjoy the pool area during the adults only time which was nice!

Ugh, where do I begin...we went on Labor Day. The pools were filled with families, children, etc. it was not relaxing at all. We decided to just go to the spa area to relax...no music to drown out the kids playing chicken in the pool so it wasn't very relaxing. The mud bake was fine. They gave us some cute stencils to paint on each other and the girl helping us was the nicest person ever! I just couldn't get over the screaming children 20 feet away... The massage was average. For the price...moonacre is NOT worth it. We spent $450 here and felt like we were at Wisconsin Dells. Maybe it was because it was a holiday weekend, but it was not relaxing...at all. BUT, the staff was all super nice. The facilities are bare at a minimum. No spa stuff...like nice lotions, combs, toiletries, etc. there was nothing. I

It's important to note that you can only access the hotel pool prior to your appointment. But honestly I don't care for the pool because it's a little dated. I love the spa facilities though. The whole place smells lovely (even the steam room is aromatic). The garden area is super cute and instagram worthy and the communal environment allows you to shower outside with your friends which I like (there's only one shower inside anyway). The locker room is tiny but the staff keeps it clean. My massage therapist, Marisa, is professional and has great techniques. She really listens to what I need and focuses on those areas accordingly. I think it might've been the best massage I've ever received. I'll definitely come back!

When we arrived, we had the pleasure of being welcomed by Jose in person, and it was one of the best hotel-front-desk interactions I've had. He is a fantastic ambassador for this one-of-a-kind hotel. We arrived before check in time (which is 4:00). Upon arrival, they informed us that our room wasn't ready yet but we could use the pools until it was. We went ahead and were immediately impressed with all 3 pools. When we hadn't heard back by 3:45, I went back to the front desk and they checked us in. We stayed for 2 nights. Here are my pros and cons from our visit: Pros: Grounds: the grounds are nice and well kept. Pools: All three pools were clean and exactly as advertised online. The chaise lounges/seating near the pool offered ample lounging space and shade. The adult only area had a lush garden and cozy seating. They have a few pool noodles on hand but I recommend bringing your own if you enjoy using one. Staff/service: Excellent ! When we arrived and checked in, we were greeted with warmth and welcoming. I'd say that there was not one unfriendly staff member. I have to mention that Chris, in particular, was very attentive and accommodating to us and all other guests we saw interact with him. Much appreciated, especially as all Calistoga lost power which slightly displaced our plans for a few hours. Room: As soon as we walked in you could smell how clean it was. We had a courtyard view King room. We appreciated all of the special touches including the cute, retro mini fridge, the oil diffuser, and the extra large bath towels. The bed was very comfortable as well. Food/drinks: It makes it extra special to be able to order food/drinks to be delivered to you poolside. We loved that! We had two breakfasts. My favorite was the breakfast sandwich with bacon. We loved the cocktails, too. Cons: Construction noise: Indian Springs is expanding their resort which means, eventually, they will be directly across the street. The construction noise was a bit alarming when we were vacationing and wanting to sleep in. Luckily I brought ear plugs so it didn't bother me too much. It didn't take away much from our trip and I'm hopeful it actually boosts this wonderful establishment in the future. Day use guests: this may be nitpicking but it upset me enough to mention it. My husband was using a chaise lounge with an umbrella next to it. A couple showed up and proceeded to take the umbrella from where he was seated and moving it to their spot. When my husband explained that he was using it, they replied that they had "paid for it" and continued to move it away from our spot. They ended up being moved to another "reserved" spot and they did the same thing to another couple. The lack of social etiquette was unfortunate. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay here and will return. *Another side note is that they are a dog friendly hotel (we have a dog but didn't bring him in this trip).

But I also hate spending my hard-earned money to be treated poorly. My mom has been coming here since she was a teenager, and our family has continued the tradition every summer. My husband and I love Hill House so much that when our wedding was canceled during COVID, we even eloped here in 2020. That's why this stay was so disappointing. While relaxing by the pool, my family was eating a small bag of pretzels. Other staff members walked by, checked in on us, and were warm and friendly. Dylan, however, stopped solely to tell us to put the pretzels away. He was unfriendly and condescending; and we later found that he didn't put forth the same effort to tell other people who brought outside snacks. We ordered poolside food and drinks from another, much friendlier server. Unfortunately, Dylan delivered the order and then informed us that our small speaker also wasn't allowed, even though it had been playing quietly the entire time and the pool was nearly empty (see the attached photo). I disagree with the rules here, but there's also a way to enforce policies without making guests feel unwelcome. We weren't disturbing anyone, we were simply trying to enjoy a family vacation. One employee's attitude changed the tone of our day. If you're deciding where to stay, we've had wonderful experiences at the Bungalows of Calistoga across the street, and for a more premium experience try Carneros Resort which has an even better pool, incredible cottages, beautiful views, outstanding service, and Domaine Carneros just across the road for champagne tasting. It's amazing how one interaction can overshadow years of loyalty. And also, management should ensure staff enforce policies with kindness, professionalism, and hospitality--especially when guests are paying premium prices to be there.

The hotel is over 100 years old and it's maturity is part of its charm. There was some work being performed in a guestroom on the 2nd floor but they worked on it for short periods every day. Love the strategy. There is no insulation on guestroom doors so it's easy to hear conversations and heavy slamming doors. There is no elevator so the 2nd floor doesn't appear to be Accessible. There are rooms on the 1st level however. The jacuzzi was wonderful and hot Tuesday morning but lukewarm on Thursday morning. Front desk staff state every now and then a guest inadvertently turns it off, and did so Wednesday night by pressing the Emergency button (instead of the timer for the jets). Bummer. It took hours for it to reheat. Maybe a sign for the jets could discourage that from happening again. Check In & Staff: Male staff were friendly and helpful - especially Manny!! The hotel does have a luggage cart but it won't help those staying on the 2nd floor since there is no elevator. However 2 of the guys volunteered to follow me outside to the car to retrieve my luggage. Soooo much appreciated! They not only carried them upstairs to my room but came back to carry them again when I relocated to a different room. They wouldn't even except a tip! Thanks guys! My heros. Other staff: The female staff at the front desk wasn't as friendly but maybe she had an off couple days. No eye contact, acknowledgement, or smile. She did engage however when spoken to. All other staff - housekeeping (especially), maintenance, painters, etc., were genuinely friendly and helpful. It made my stay relaxing which was much needed! Thanks again. Breakfast: Staff prepare a daily breakfast tray that's delivered to each room at your preferred time. Breakfast consisted of FRESH and DELICIOUS breads, lemon cake, a tangerine, and a warm pot of mild-blend coffee. Room: Towels were fluffy, soft, good-smelling, and appeared new! The linen and robes were fresh and clean. The room was well furnished and the environment inviting. The bed was on the firm side but was very comfortable. I had to remember not to sit on the edge too long though because the ribbing on the edge of the mattress hurt. There was no bottled water in the room but there was a carafe to be filled with ice/water at the Hydration Station located on the 1st floor. It would have been nice to have a Station upstairs too or bottles of water for upstairs guests. Having a mini fridge and safe in the room was a nice touch. A microwave somewhere for guests (use) would have been nice for reheating leftovers. Window screens would have been nice to enjoy fresh air in the room without bugs. Bathtub stopper should probably be replaced because it was old, discolored, and soiled. Bathroom walls could use a little touch-up paint but none of those issues were big deal breakers for me. The things that could have definitely been better in the room were the loud bathroom fan (and the inability to turn it off independently from the light switch) and the hum from the mini fridge. The fridge clicks on/off 24/7, and at night when its quiet the hum is annoying. Glad I brought adapters for electronics since there are standard electrical outlets only, and no place to plug in USB cords. Check Out: Payment for your room is deducted from your credit card at the beginning of your stay when you check in. To check out you can drop your room keys in the box at the front desk. I chose to wait (10 minutes) for staff to return to the desk for a receipt. Value: I didn't visit the hotel spa this visit. However even with the Spring Special the hotel seems a bit overpriced, and without the spa is probably closer to a 3-star hotel. Caveat though is that everything in Calistoga appears to be overpriced - after all it's a resort town. Love the peace and tranquility though. Overall a really nice stay and I definitely recommend.

BOOKING: Below are our hotel RESERVATION DETAILS: Arrival Date: December 21, 2022 Departure Date: December 23, 2022 Average Room Rate Before Tax: $191.25 with a 15% AAA discount Room Type: Petite Queen Guestroom Total Room & Tax: $440.62 Deposit Policy: Deposit required of first night's stay plus tax ($233.27) and any hotel guest packages to secure reservation. I booked our room (initially for checking in on December 19 and checking out on December 21) directly via their website, paying a $233.27 deposit, but after reviewing the Reservation Confirmation, had to reach out to the team because the 15% AAA discount off of the $225/night rate was erroneously calculating to $202.50/night instead of $191.25/night. Guest Services confirmed that there was a glitch in their system and they quickly corrected the error. A couple of days later, I reached out again to request to move our stay dates. The request was granted without issue. HOTEL: Mount View Hotel and Spa is a Mission Revival style boutique hotel and historical Landmark nestled in the heart of Calistoga. No onsite parking lot; however, we were able to easily find free parking nearby. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by the warmth of the inviting lobby and vibrance from its eccentric interiors. With peppy Art Deco décor and furnishings, the inn boasts a charming ambiance that takes guests back to the 1920's and 1930's era. We stayed on the second floor in Room 221, a chic bedchamber with nods to the early 20th century, furnished with a high-quality, comfortable bed, flat-screen television, espresso machine, fridge, and glassware for self-catering. HOTEL SERVICE: The front desk staff, especially Manny, was extremely friendly and helpful. One night, when I couldn't find unmetered parking, Manny assured me that parking overnight in the metered spaces along the front of the hotel on Lincoln Avenue would not trigger a citation, even during the metered times. Seeing that I was apprehensive to do this, he promised to cover the cost of a parking ticket, if I would receive one. He was right; the timed metered parking was not enforced the next day. The complimentary light coffeehouse-style continental breakfast with fresh coffee, tea, fruit, juice and pastries, delivered directly to our room each morning was also very nice. TRUE SPA CALISTOGA: The whimsical accoutrements continue in the spa. No showers, but small, private lockers with robes and slippers are assigned to each patron. Since we were staying at a spa hotel, we booked appointments for restorative spa experiences, for Thursday, the 22nd, at 2:00 PM. It was very convenient to stumble downstairs for facials and revitalizing body treatments + massages. Our appointments were for the Detox + Glow (90MIN) (BODY THERAPIES) package, a relaxing combination of upper body massage (neck, arms, and shoulders) paired with a facial focus using Blue Beautifly Organic Skincare alongside the Bentonite Clay Mud Mask to nourish the body and skin head to toe. 90 minutes for $280 included a fully body massage. I was assigned to technician Rosa Cisneros who was very nice. The sessions were soothing and relaxing; however, Mom and I were confused at the conclusion, thinking that we were still to receive a full body mud mask or wrap, as per the description of the Detox + Glow package. Due to no mud mask, we were given a 15% discount. VERDICT: Mount View Hotel & Spa is a charming establishment and perfect place to slow down time and enjoy a respite.

I expressed my dismay in my message saying this kind of customer service would drive me to a competitor. Someone did call me back promptly and ragged me for being rude, saying her website was fine and saying she is doing the best she can under bad staffing circumstances. I did find out my date was unavailable and I could not redeem the gift certificate. Then when I said I would not apologize, but let's start again. She hung up on me. HUNG UP. I think we both need a relaxation treatment after that exchange.

My wife and I have a long-standing tradition of spending New Year's week here, and honestly, it's…read morewhere some of our favorite memories have been made. Solage is nestled right on the Silverado Trail in the heart of Calistoga, and the location is unbeatable--you're basically three minutes from downtown and a short, scenic drive from St. Helena and Yountville. The property itself is stunning. It's got that modern wine-country vibe with about 100 detached studios spread across 20-plus acres. When you're sitting in one of the natural hot spring pools or hitting the cold dips at the spa, it really does feel like world-class luxury. Between the mud slides, the gravity chairs, and the fitness classes, you can easily spend your whole trip without leaving the gates. The Food: Solbar is a must. We had the seven-course New Year's Eve prix fixe with wine pairings over numerous years, and each were equally unique and incredible. It's that perfect balance of farm-to-table "health" food and total comfort dishes. For something more low-key, Picobar by the pool has some of the best Baja-style tacos I've had in NorCal. Plus, the whole place is super dog-friendly, which is a huge win for us. The Experience & Pro-Tip: Definitely book through AmEx Platinum if you can. We used the Fine Hotels + Resorts program and snagged a $300 credit, a late 4 p.m. checkout, and an automatic upgrade. I will say, even "perfect" places have their off moments. This year, despite requesting a room close to the spa months in advance (and confirming twice), they initially tucked us away at the far edge of the property. I wasn't thrilled about hiking across 22 acres in my robe and sandals! I spoke with the front desk, and the concierge actually went back and reviewed my recorded calls to verify the request. They did move us about 30 minutes later to a spot half the distance away, though it lacked the private fenced patio and fireplace of our original booking. I was too tired to keep fighting it and just wanted to get to the spa, so I settled in. Despite that hiccup, the service and the atmosphere here remain some of the best in the world. It's not cheap, but for the memories and the access to Napa's best vineyards, it's worth it every time. Can't wait to be back next year.

We…read morevisited Solage and had a pleasant time, although compared to Stanly Ranch or ADS, Solage fell a bit short of expectations. Compared to Stanly, the rates for rooms were more expensive while I felt the Stanly offered a much better campus. Despite the comments about the campus, the food onsite was pretty good and the reviews will be posted in their respective pages. The room service could have been better as they missed delivery of the pre-ordered breakfast in the morning as the night shift didn't properly fill in the order request and didn't get placed, but the team quickly remedied the situation and delivered not too long after our original request time. The rooms were comfy with a good layout, but the garden out back were covered with fences and it didn't feel as freeing as Stanly Ranch's rooms where the back patio is uncovered. Overall, I'd visit Stanly or Auberge du Soleil when going back to the Napa area.
