I tried this new spa today in search of a quality pedicure. I was the furthest thing from disappointed. The customer service is impeccable, everything listed as part of the service you receive, there was no rush or subpar work done. My pedicure was the best pedicure I've ever received and was truly restorative. The energy of this spa screams serenity! I am extremely picky with pedicures as well as nail salons, after doing extensive research and stumbling upon this establishment I will never go anywhere else for a pedicure. I am very disappointed and left with an extremely bad taste in my mouth with my experience yesterday. This was not due to the lady that was doing my nails (she was kind) but due to the person that seemed like the head person there being very deceptive. My first time coming here was in October 2019 for my birthday as a surprise with my mom and sister in law. Due to the fact that the ambience was nice and didn't smell like chemicals, the staff was sweet and due to the non-toxic products, I was sold and happy with my experience even referring some people! Fast forward to today, 3 months after. My daughter just turned 5 and she said she wanted to get her nails and toes done. The first place I thought of was Spa Pointe due to the experience I had for my bday. I even brought my husband for his very first nail experience so it was a family affair, taking time off of work and traveling from the New Haven area which obviously is a drive. My husband and I were going to just get regular pedicures (nothing special) and my daughter was going to get a mani/pedi. I asked the "owner lady" which pedicure she'd recommend for husband and I and she gave me the menu. She said we should get the $69 pedicure for both husband and myself. In my mind I was thinking, yeah of course she's going to want us to get a pricier treatment but at the end of the day it's my choice. I was debating for a minute while she was waiting and watching me. I wasn't planning on spending $138 for 2 pedicures (ouch) and then my daughter's. As I'm still thinking about it, she jumps in and goes, "Okay, you and husband do the $69 pedicure and we'll do your daughter for free." At that point, although we could have agreed to just doing the basic pedicure for myself and my husband as planned, and my 5 year old's mani/pedi for probably $100ish plus tip when we left, I agreed to the $69 pedicure for husband and I and free for daughter deal. I agreed because I figured why not get some extra treatment, give the salon some extra business and it was a fun first-time family affair getting our nails done. Also, felt giving because I am Korean as well and know how hard it is to come over from another country as my parents did and how hard they worked. I totally get it so it didn't seem too bad we were spending a lot. So now that we agreed to the $69 pedi, in my head I figured it would be $138 total for all of us and then tip. Finally we are done and as we go to pay the bill she quickly goes as she has the card in her hands, "I'm going to charge you $25 for your daughter's mani/pedi." In my mind I was like EXCUSE ME?!!!! I was furious inside but I wasn't going to react nor create a scene (not that I would) but at the same time I didn't have energy to put her in place for being a liar not did I want to ruin the experience in front of my daughter who is extremely intelligent and would've understood it all. I just complied and paid the $163 total (For two $69 pedicures and NOW $25 added for my daughter). And then there's tip I added. I was so caught off guard and we were running late that I did the math wrong in my head and then ended up giving another $40 in tip which I didn't realize till we got in the car that the math was all wrong. 20% before tax would've been about $30 for the false charges. I ended up paying $203 out the door including the $40 cash tip. If I didn't give $40 tip then I would have left paying what I thought I was going to originally pay. $69 times 2 = $138 plus 20% = $165. I should've left without providing tip but my heart couldn't do that because that's just me. She deceived us and tried to make an extra $25 on us without realizing that cheap move now made her LOSE money because we are NEVER coming back and we are telling our referrals not to go there again. My family and I own many many businesses for the past few decades and this practice is absolutely disgusting and I can't even imagine doing that to a customer. If you do a customer well, they are naturally going to come back and give you more business and refer others to come. That was going to be "my place" to go but not anymore. She definitely has no conscious, customer service skills or any heart. What a way to ruin our family's first nail experience. Business tips- 1) Don't be cheap and cheat customers or be deceptive because karma comes around. Was it worth $25 to now lose my family and referrals to your business? 2) Don't be pushy with your menu. I asked you what the pedicures were you but you went straight to the highest priciest options. All you need to do is explain to your customers the few different pedicure options on the menu and let the customer choose with your guidance. Being pushy and trying to get us the $69 pedicure right from the start is a turn off. 3) I even told you & the staff that we came from New Haven area because we loved it at your place. As a business owner I'd be like, "Wow thank you for coming all the way, we'll give you an extra 5 min massage." read more

I wasn't going to leave a review because I know how these can effect a business but I mulled it over and feel that I need to make others aware. I did a walk-in appointment for dip powder nails on 9/13/2019. I was greeted and immediately sat to wait for a few moments; this was fine as I was a walk-in. After waiting, a woman started my previous powder removal and left me with acetone on them for about 40 minutes. No one came to check on them during this time. Then a separate woman came and started to work on my nails. At this point, they were basically gummy from how long the acetone was on them. They are my natural nails except for one with a short extension on it. Amy was the one doing my nails at this point. During my entire appointment, she used one single old school nail file; that's it. No other tools. So every single nail is a different shape and thickness, absolutely no consistency due to her using JUST a single thin nail file. I told her I wanted coffin shape and they are nowhere near. They only had less than a dozen colors to choose from, which I chose the grey--but in some spots i can almost see through the color from where it was poorly filed. All the bottles of products she used were basically empty and she was tipping them upside down to get any out. I asked for a gel top coat which she did not give me, and the top coat is patchy, full of ridges. She then tried to force me to pay with cash and wouldn't let me put my card in until I insisted I'm paying with card. My nails are really poorly done and I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I went there back in Nov. I had never been there before, but wanted to give a new place a try. Went in with a picture - I am a college student and wanted just a basic white gel manicure, and I had asked for red stars on my ring finger. I thought it would be cute and fun, something new to try. They had me pick out my own colors, and after doing 2 coats of white gel, told me that it was too sheer and wouldn't look how I wanted it to. Said to keep in mind for next time, didn't even offer to change or redo. Next, they asked me what a star was. I was literally baffled, and showed them the photo again. They said sure, and after attempting it twice and wiping it off (which stained the white on my nails) she told me she was just going to leave the one ugly star on my nails and put glitter over it so it looked better. I never wanted glitter, never asked for it. When I went to pay, the owner looked at my nails and the other girl and then laughed, and charged me 45 dollars and said "Ah now we know for next time!" Will never be returning here again. Wish i had taken a photo, but my nails were stained this off white from wiping off the star, the star itself looked like a maple leaf, and the glitter looked totally out of place.
