I used to work there and I have over a hundred pictures of neglect filth absolute filth in the places.The little rooms that the dogs parents are shown... the pups never see them. They sleep and eat and stay over in dank filthy cells that have nothing. They show these really nice bougied out little rooms but they don't ever stay in them. Those dogs never see those rooms.They go over to the boarding side where it's an empty cell, and it is a cell.There's bite marks blood dust.There's nothing the intercom doesn't even work.It's horrible.The manager Kerry doesn't know the first thing about dogs. She has no training nothing.I'm a vet tech and I worked there at night.So at night is what I only saw.So during the day, there's no telling what went on there. None of the people that work at the spa paws motel were licensed had any type of training with dogs.How to break up a dog fighs, comfort scared dogs. How to make it a calm environment etc....They didn't know the first thing about caring.for animals period. They're not counselors.They never checked the dogs out.They just wanted to see the bankroll that was coming in, it was horrible.The way those dogs were treated. I don't know if the owner knew what carry and her daughter and their little family that worked there. They were running that place into the ground. Every time I asked the owner's name and how to get in touch with her.I was stopped obviously or else I would have told the owner what was going on.All I was told was that the owner broke her leg.And that she's recuperating.Well, it's been like two or three years that she's been recuperating, so I find that unbelievable.I don't know if she knew that Kerry had no training.Whatsoever, not even in bookkeeping, but in animal care at all. The groomers were great.I thought they knew what they were doing, but the people working in the motel.... Kerrysaid we didn't give their stuff from home because we didn't have.We didn't want to have to pay for it if they ruined it well.I would think there would be a waiver somewhere on the contract that the people are signing asked you if their stuff is ruined that we were not liable.But no, that was never even put on there, all their stuff got kept in a bag shoved on the shelf. Our dog is much calmer when he returns from Spa Paws than he was at any of the other places we tried, including vets. He is happy and overall less nervous all the time. So, they must be giving him extra good care there. Also he is groomed well. And the owner is very kind. She gave me a huge free bag of food and a bag of treats to try out. There were a plethora of problems, the owner never knew how to run a real business, didn't care about anyone, employees, vendors, customers, much less the poor dogs left to be the ultimate victims. Very dissapointed in the care of my dogs who spent 5 days there over New Years 2022. I left a brief note on my older 12 year old dog about keeping under his tail clean but he came home covered in feces. Had to wash both dogs and get poor Timmy to a vet as soon as possible as his skin was beet red with inflammation. After a hefty uneccesarry vet bill my husb tried repeatedly to contact the owner of Spa Paws but for a month she has avoided returning a phonecall or appearing to even be at her business. We have used their doggy day care several times and have been satisfied with their service until our most recent booking. The front desk employees were very rude and unprofessional unlike our past experiences. They provided minimum description and communication. I was in need of a haircut for my cockapoo immediately, within the hour. I also wanted a place that wouldn't give him a hideous haircut. Spa Paws really has it all. Groomer, boarding, and cute dog bakery. Service - 5/5 The receptionist was kind and knowledgeable when I called. They were able to make my dog, Speedy, the first appointment for an express fee, but that was fine with me. Then I met the groomer. I don't remember her name, but she was very kind and genuinely wanted my opinion on how my dog's hair should look. He had lots of mattes around his head, so she even brought out a second groomer for a second opinion. Grooming - 2/5 The haircut was extremely expensive. The haircut + express fee came out to $112. I didn't mind paying the price, because they seemed knowledgeable and were able to cut his hair immediately. They had to shave around his neck to cut out the mattes, and that I understood. However, the hair around the top of his head was very uneven. For the price I paid, I was expecting them to be more careful with haircut. I've attached a picture of his haircut. His body looked fine though. Bakery - 3/5 The treats are super cute here. However, they only have hard cookies. I wanted to buy a cake-like treat for my dog. They're also very pricey. If I could give zero stars I would, actually I wish there was a negative four option. Stay away from this place if you have any love for your four legged child(ren). There are so many issues regarding the place it's hard to begin. I started bringing my one dog five years ago and at that time was completely happy. But in the last 12 months after bringing new kiddos it's been horrible and heart wrenching. First, they didn't follow instructions on separating my dogs during feeding. This resulted in one barely eating anything in 7 days. Resulting in a 6 lb weight loss. Another issue was buying bones in her shop only for them not to be provided to our dogs during their stay. Her answer, "it wasn't approved holistic bone". My response, "I bought them that day in your holistic store". She claims to provide a luxury experience and will go above and beyond in meeting their needs. But that clearly is a crack of bull! Second, the staff turn around in the last year has been crazy. It makes you wonder... Can she not hire and screen acceptable employees? Does she just hire anyone because she doesn't care? Does she degrade her staff like she does her customers and they leave? Or is a combination of all... The things that make you go "hmmm". Third, Janice is not empathetic to her customers. She won't even admit error; instead turns the story around to pass blame on you. What kind of business is that... Janice telling me he didn't lose 6 lbs, he ate during his stay, he wasn't sick, and he didn't need medical attention. Then in the same breath would turn it around that it was my fault... lady I was away; I trusted you with that responsibility. Trust me she will smile and act like a southern bell to your face but the minute you kindly confront her about an issue she becomes hissing snake. I strongly feel she lost her passion for providing a unique luxury boarding and is now all about the money. read more

My boyfriends golden doodle got E Coli after staying at Spa Paws, she has also had previous ear infections due to being groomed at Spa Paws. After awesome grooming for two years.... spa paws has really gone down hill. Janice has scheduled his dog and Janice would reschedule several times.... She then offered a free groom for my troubles when we took our golden doodle in we told them not to shave her but they shaved her whole body to where she didn't even look like a golden doodle anymore!!! She had cuts on her legs as well as her abdomen. They also trimmed one of her nails to short and it bled for almost the whole day after pickup. When I complained..... Janice reassured us the groom would be free when it was already suppose to be free for the scheduling troubles! He is never taking his dog back here :( read more

We left written instructions on how we wanted our small dogs groomed. When we picked our dogs up, one of our dogs was completely shaved (what we absolutely told them not to do in our written instructions). The bill was over $200. The girl stated the price was higher because of how long it took to brush the tail (the only part that wasn't shaved). Beware Before Boarding Pets: Deception & Animal Neglect A "luxury" resort and high price tag doesn't always result in good care for your beloved pets. I recently boarded my dogs at Spa Paws from June 2-8. While my dogs were there, I requested to have them bathed on Friday before I picked them up on June 8th. I specifically stated not to shave any of the dogs with trimmers because I have had issues before with groomers cutting the dogs lower abdomens. Unbeknownst to me at the time of pickup, Spa Paws neglected my requests and shaved my golden retriever anyway for a sanitary cut down to his bare skin. Shortly after we arrived home, I noticed his lower abdomen had been shaved completely with many cuts, swelling and irritation. The vet diagnosed my golden retriever with both bacterial and fungal infections of both his skin (lower abdomen) and ears. He must undergo medicated bathes 2x a week in additional to the antibiotics and anti-fungal medications. I have also discovered that many others have had bad experiences with Spa Paws only to be denied anything by the owner Janice. But the truth is, many pet owners in Fort Worth do not realize such problems even occur. After several attempts of reaching the owner, Janice, I made her aware that my golden retriever was at my vet due to bacterial and fungal skin infections and ear infections. She became very hostile, rude and unapologetic. She argued and denied that any health issues occurred while the dogs were in her care. Specifically she denied that her groomer shaved my golden retriever's lower abdomen. Although the first employee I spoke to on Monday, Amy, told me she watched the groomer shave my golden retriever. During the tours Spa Paws even leads you to believe they will provide the utmost care for your pets with expensive beds, blankets, dog bowls in every room during their stay. I discovered today after walking around the property that Spa Paws is not at all what you are led to believe it is. Most of the rooms that are decorated are only staged for tours with the fancy beds, blankets, etc. You are told they will receive such "luxury" items during their stay. But, the reality is the dogs that are boarding are put in the room with only a water bowl, the items from the tour were not in any room with a boarded dog. It is disheartening to put your trust in a company that claims to be a "luxury hotel" for pets but will not accept responsibility for health issues that arise during their stay. I do not want other Fort Worth pet owners and families who think they are providing the best care available to make the same mistake of trusting Spa Paws due to their deception and false hope only to be duped and result into similar serious health issues and vet bills that I am currently incurring. read more

I am only coming to yelp after having no luck with the establishment. As I have read back through the reviews I am not the first to have an experience like this. I usually have a great experience at spa paws. The service is usually great and they do a great job grooming her. But mostly recently when they groomed her I picked her up with cut marks on both of her legs. Also half of her ears were buzzed down to he skin and not the other half. I have attached pictures to the site. The groomer claims it was intentional and a westies ear tips are always shaved. I have yet to see a westie with a similar cut. When I pointed it out to the groomer I was told that that's how a westie is suppose to look. I asked her to show me pictures and she agreed that her ears didn't look like any other westies but still insisted it was an intentional cut. I have tried to get in touch with the owner for some time now. I called to try to ask about why this happened and if I were to go back to spa paws to figure out how to not let it happen again. Someone called me back a couple days later. The caller said they were the owner Janice Ford Grimes. After speaking to them I truly doubt it was the owner and if it was I don't know how she keeps customers. The owner wasn't there at the time so I tried to explain to her what happened. The call escalated quickly. The caller told me they knew what happened according to her employees and trusts her employees. I was again told the cut was intentional even though the owner hadn't seen the cut and there was "no way" the caller was going to apologize for the cut. The caller then accused me of hopping around town trying to get free haircuts. Then I was told that the owner would "lawyer up" if I asked for my money back. Which I thought was very odd. When I said it's not about the money the caller said well I don't know what more you want. I asked if she wanted to hear the customers side of the story and once again the caller wasn't interested. I truly expected a much different encounter and that is why I'm writing. I am a pharmacy manager and I know there are always two sides to a story and I listen to the customers. Even if you think someone is wrong you need to be more professional than attacking someones character that you don't even know. I have been a loyal customer at banfield pet hospital and wuf pet spa and resort in Dallas since my dog was young. The owner Charla at wuf pet spa and resort is great. But I was looking for a groomer and boarder closer to home. I wouldn't pay $62 to get a cut like the picture attached and to be treated like that after bringing up a concern to a business. We had taken our dog their for several years for grooming and it has progressively gotten worse over time. The talent of the people currently employed for grooming at this point is comical. The do not know how to follow directions and obviously have no experience with the different types of dog cuts. You can't chop a beard off a schnauzer or completely butcher the fringe. The owner tries to pass it off on the fact that they are not actually employeed by Spa Paws but are contracted. Like I told her directly, it does not matter! These people are a direct reflection of your business! She tried to make it up by taking care of the next cut only for them to butcher my poor dog again even after clear face to face instructions with the groomer. Never again. I have been using Spa paws grooming service for over 2 years now. I have a Westie and a little mutt. My dogs look like show dogs whenever we leave and they are so excited when I drop them off in the morning. Your fur babies are spoiled rotten here. They do not wait in kennels like every other grooming salon. They get to play in the doggie daycare rooms while waiting on services. This is huge for me because my westie has anxiety issues/attachment disorder. She is perfectly happy when I pick her up where as at other salons she was exhausted from shaking in the kennel. This place is beautiful. The owner is a piece of work. I just got a very nasty voicemail from her (which I have saved). I work with an animal supply company that manufacturers pet furniture. I dropped off a piece for Janice to look at (since she's never available to speak to) saying that we would be back in week or so. After a week we hadn't heard from Janice so we went back to retrieve our sample. The manager, Victoria, had Janice on the phone asking how much she owed because she gave the item to one of her clients. When I got back to the office I sent her pricing. No response. In my absence Friday, two ladies from my office went to retrieve the item or advise her that we would invoice her for it. Friday evening she left the nastiest voicemail claiming, "let this be a lesson to you." What kind of lesson exactly? That Spa Paws gives away items it doesn't pay for? That Janice doesn't answer emails or phone calls? Or that when you finally get to speak to her she's extremely rude and comes across as another white lady looking down at younger folks of color? The first time we visited her store, the lady (not Victoria) at the front desk was very rude and dismissive. I wondered how someone who worked in such a beautiful place with adorable animals all day could be so rude, now I know, the rudeness starts at the top. read more

Brought our Boston Terrier to Spa Paws Hotel to be checked by Dr Barns for a non surgical luxating patella stage 2/3 solution. The visit was excellent she listened to our observations during the past three weeks after he injured himself and reviewed all of our paper work. Then she carefully examined all of the areas around the injured back leg. She gave us medicine to take each day and scheduled another visit in a week to review the changes. During the visit we met the owner of the hotel and had a great conversion about all of the businesses available in the hotel. After the discussion she offered to take us on a tour the next time we were there. read more

They are highly trained dogs, boarding is nothing new to them, they are groomed every 2 weeks, and have NEVER had an accident in my house. I paid $150 for 1 night stay in a suite and I am 100% sure they did not get that big room. They were shoved into a small kennel and forced to pee all over themselves and their bed. Only rated them one star because I had to. I selected this resort based on the amazing reviews and recommendations via google. Based on google this was on of the best places in the US to take your fur baby, 5 stars of pet resorts. COMPLETELY WRONG & DISAPPOINTED 1. Paid for doggie cam during boarding however the camera never worked in the room. Extra $15/day 2. Owner stated she would refund the camera fee however never did. (Continue to read below) 3. Allowed for them to groom my dog and he returned to me with 2 quarter sized open flesh wounds on his ears ($500 vet bill). After inquiring again about what happened to my dog, the owner and groomer proceeded to get extremely upset. I proceeded to inform them of what the vet stated, indicating these wounds were based on neglect / inexperienced grooming. The owner then hung up the phone in my face. I called back (thinking the call just dropped) she immediately answered and stated you little black bitch don't ever call here again or I will call the police on you and your white dog and I will not refund you for the video cam . I was speechless......... had to look at the phone 3 times to ensure I was hearing what she said correctly. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Never thought I would pay premium pricing ($70/day for a 25lb spaniel) for piss-poor service. Dropped my dog off the evening before I left town. I noticed the front dog room (facing the parking lot) had two dogs in there. I saw what appeared to be liquids ALL over the floor. It could have been water from their bowls or dog urine I'm not sure. I asked them if I could see the room my dog would be staying in. They wouldn't let me. I also asked what he would be sleeping on, they said a blanket. Unfortunately they don't provide anything other than requesting something if you don't bring your own. I called and asked if they could send me photos of him and they agreed. Never received anything. I called hourly to request an update/pics. Never received anything. They kept saying that they were busy. After one day of h them giving me the run around, I had a friend remove him from there and take him to PetSuites of Chisholm Trail. Not only did was the daily rate cut in half ($35/day) but I received several photos of him every day I was gone and when I picked him up, they gave me 2 report cards of his time there. I am never taking my pets back to Spa Paws Hotel. They don't care about your pets and are too busy to give you piece of mind knowing your pets are doing ok. I recommend PetSuites at Chisholm Trail 100000%! Much cleaner facility too! read more

Spa paws is a beautiful place and the people I have worked with have always been nice..... HOWEVER I have taken my dog there twice and BOTH times when I got her home she was extremely sick. The first time, I took her to the vet and they diagnosed her with kennel cough. I brushed it off and decided to just let it go thinking it was a coincidence. A few months later we needed to board her there again and when I picked her up she was visibly sick and there were signs of diarrhea on her bed. When I called to check on her they just told me she was doing great and having fun. There was no mention her not feeling well. Both times I have used this place it was resulted in a very sick dog and two $400 vet bills. There is clearly a sanitation problem at this establishment and I will never use this place again.... read more

I would have to agree with other reviewers who believe that quality has worsened over the years. I have taken 3 of my dogs there for grooming. When I first started taking my mini-schnauzer mix, the groomer actually came out and talked to me about the look I wanted (since she is a mix, I don't prefer the usual schnauzer cut). She asked for my permission to try new things and I absolutely loved what she did. However, over the years, that groomer left and the quality just hasn't been the same. At her most recent groom, they didn't cut around her ears at all. She now has super short hair on her body, and big floppy ears. It's not a good look for her, and it's not what they've done in the past (which should be on file). I was pretty disappointed, but unfortunately, I haven't found any other groomer in the area that has impressed me. read more

Unprofessional owner running a bad business. I have never experienced such a unprofessional, rude, defensive or insulting human in my life. The night before my family and I were headed to the lake for the night I called Paw Spa's asking if I could bring my dog in the morning to board him overnight. I understood that I didn't have a reservation but the lady asked for me to call back in the morning before I came in as it didn't seem like it would be an issue. I called an hour before I came in and again the lady expressed that it wouldn't be an issue. I brought him in around 8:30AM and the lady came around the counter and walked him to the back. I asked several times if I needed to sign anything or fill out any paperwork and she stated that I could do it when I picked him up the following day. Since we have used their services in the past, I thought this was not unusual and left assuming he would be in good hands. I later got a call from Janice (the owner) that afternoon accusing me of "dropping off" my dog and instead of correcting her employee for not following her policy she took the time to interrupt my time with my family to make false accusations while being very rude and insulting. I couldn't enjoy the remaining time we had away due to being concerned about what kind of environment my dog was in. After getting back into town we came straight to Paw Spa's to pick him up. In efforts to give Janice the courtesy of expressing how she handled the situations I requested to speak to her. After waiting for some time, she finally came out and I formally introduced myself and told her that I thought how she handled the conversation the previous day was very unprofessional, rude and insulting. She quickly interrupted me and stated I was "that kind of person to take advantage of a situation" when I was just giving her feedback as one of her guests. She took my feedback as a personal attack instead of listening to me reevaluating that possibly her lack of leadership and training has caused this situation to occur. I oversee multiple hotels and I can assure you that none of my associates would ever treat a guest with such disrespect. While there are many other alternative places with better accommodations and customer service within the area, I personally would not recommend anyone to give this lady business.
