It doesn't surprise me in the least that this place has such awful reviews. I had come here once years ago and wanted to give it another chance, which turned out to be a huge mistake. I originally made an appointment to come in for just a gel pedicure. Everything was going fine for most of my pedicure. Toward the end, I decided I wanted to get a mani too & asked if she has the time. From this point on is where it started getting weird lol. Keep in mind the salon was empty other than one other customer getting a pedicure next to me. Her mood shifted suddenly. She started huffing and puffing & looking irritated. I was contemplating saying never mind before she even started doing my hands because I was already irritated and very confused with her demeanor and complete lack of professionalism. I show her a pic of what I wanted for my nails, to which she makes a discouraged face & responds that "she'll try"...not the type of confidant, excited response you would expect from a competent nail tech. Now, understandably, this left me distrustful of her ability to give me a result I would be happy with. Nonetheless I've already made it this far and really just wanted to get my nails done and get out of there ASAP. She takes a 20 minute intermission in the middle of filing my previous gel x off my nails to make a phone call. Soon after, she takes out a powder that resembles dip powder. Because she didn't bother to communicate at all about the type of nails I had, I worried that she was going to attempt to put dip powder on my gel x nails so I say curiously "is that dip powder?" That one question made her crash out! "No it's gel x...that's what you have, isn't it?...I've been doing this for MANY years...I know what's on your nails!...." in a truly unnecessary and embarrassing display of insecurity because she herself was not confident she could do a good job...and she was right lol At this point, I'm just looking back at her and nodding while she continues to try to berate me until she realizes I'm not saying anything back and suddenly snaps out of it. What follows is a very awkward silence during which I decided that I would 100% never be returning to this "salon." Her tone was so incredibly bitchy & uncouth it took me a second to fully process her disrespect. Anyways....She doesn't cut my nails down at all even though they were clearly very grown out, which she made sure to make several comments on. She spends about 60 seconds total to " file" them into the shape I wanted. Unfortunately I can't provide a pic of the lumpy mess she left my nails with because I rushed home to fix the shape into what I actually asked for. I asked for a cat eye French tip, almond shape. The end result was sloppy & super lumpy with the worst looking, crooked French tip I've ever had in my life. Save your money and go to a salon where you'll be respected and given what you actually asked for. If the 2 stars isn't enough of a sign to avoid this place, this is your warning lol read more

I enjoy going to this salon, it's clean and spacious. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. It's best to make appointments as they do get relatively busy and you'd be stuck waiting for awhile. I usually see Cindy for my dip nails and pedicures. She does a great job and gets me finished up pretty quickly versus some of the other technicians I've been to before. My only complaint is that their classic pedicures are a bit pricey ($30) when I'm used to paying $20 for a classic other than that, I've been a repeat customer for about a year now and will continue to be unless I find a more reasonably priced salon. read more

I really hate to leave such a negative review, but after a handful of bad experiences I feel the need to warn others about this place. Let's start off with no matter what they say when you ask how long the wait is, always expect to wait at minimum 15-20 mins. They might sit you in a chair right away, but that's just to convince you to stay. I truly don't mind waiting, but when I specifically ask how long the wait is because I'm on a schedule, I would expect for them to give an honest timeframe. It's obvious to me now that they will say anything in order to avoid losing business. The quality of the finished product is hit or miss. I've only ever received pedicures at this location, so that's all I can speak to. Sometimes I get someone who is very polite, thorough and seems to genuinely care about the customer getting what they asked for. Other times, like my most recent experience, you get someone who treats you like a nuisance and completely rushes through your pedicure. The pedicure I received today was just flat out bad. It was so rushed - she forgot to file every toenail on my left foot, leaving the nails jagged and uneven. The gel polish is very sloppy and does not look professionally done at all. I'm now forced to go home and file them down/try to fix the nail polish. Overall, I'm pretty irritated I just paid $50 for this and now have to make time to try to fix it before I go out of town tomorrow. Yes, I'm aware this is a very "first world problem," but when you're paying a decent amount for a service to be done just to have to fix it yourself, it's beyond frustrating. Every single person there, including the owners, are the nicest, most professional, and most welcoming people you will ever meet. They are truly the best at what they do. Where do I even begin to say how much I love Mao?! Mao has been doing my pedicures and eyebrow waxing every 3 weeks for almost 4 years. I've also had her do several manicures for me too. Her skills are first-class, the best of the best, and 100% unmatchable when compared to every other nail tech I've ever had in all the salons I've ever visited. She takes her time on each step, from the initial nail cutting and cleanup, thorough callus treatment, super long massages, all the way through to the final painting and design. Her eyebrow waxing is so perfect I don't even need to look in a mirror when she's done! After I leave, I feel like a new woman every single time, and my feet look and feel so much cleaner, softer, and prettier than when I arrived. I never felt that way at any other salon until I met Mao! On a personal level, Mao is the kindest, most gentle, patient, and hard-working human ever, and she has the biggest heart. She gives her undivided attention and makes me feel like I'm her only customer every time I see her. I've grown so close and become such good friends with Mao, and I love and respect her so much, both as a nail tech and even more so as a person. In terms of specifics, Spa #1's pricing, menu, and available scrub and lotion scents are unbeatable! There will probably never be a time when I choose to go to this salon again. I made an appointment for 2 at 12:30. We arrived a few minutes early, but the receptionist was inundated with people and actually yelled at a customer(first read flag) because she put her credit card in the machine and the phone was ringing(guess we're back in the 90s)...we were eventually brought back to chairs around 12:45...and left in the chairs until 1:20. I eventually brought it to someone's attention that our appointments were 50 minutes ago and that we had yet to be helped...they apologized, but that was it. The pedicure started around 1:30, and ended at 2:00. We waited significantly longer for our pedicures than the actual service, and still ended up paying $99 for 2 pedicures. read more

I got a simple gel manicure today and Wilson did a great job! He was very nice and held conversation with me. I absolutely love my nails this time! The wait wasn't extremely long either. I previously got a gel manicure and pedicure done at this location by another associate and was not satisfied. She added so many layers of polish on my nails that they were really thick and started to peel. She didn't add enough to my toes, the color was see through. Needless to say I had to return a few days later for her to fix it. With that being said I plan to return to see Wilson for services before my vacation in June! read more

Tried this place twice and a second chance is all you get. First time was for refill and pedi and the gentleman or actually man that did my pedi was rude once I stated that I didn't want any of the upgrades and just wanted a standard pedicure. I then got a rush job and very rough. I went back today to get eyebrows done and the woman doing my eyebrows took two phone calls including a face time call WHILE she was doing my eyebrows and actually walked out of the room twice to tell someone else something. The first call she held the phone to her ear with her shoulder over my face as she was doing my eyebrows. All of ten minutes is all you have to give me and you can't do that. I've never had so many issues with a nail salon. I've gone back a few times in hopes of having better service but that's never the case. I went in to have a pedicure and it was overall a rushed process. I think it took maybe 10 minutes. I was treated more of a nuisance rather than a customer. I could of gotten a better pedicure from my 11 month old daughter. It was the FASTEST pedicure of my life and the lady wanted to tell me how bad my feet were slapped on some callus remover and hit it with the foot stone for a max of 15 seconds. For starters I get pedicures weekly and I wear shoes and socks all day at work. My feet were not bad Lol the "scrub" they used wasn't even spreader out onto my legs before they were washing it off. And the lotion wasn't even rubbed it. She used a towel to absorb the lotion off. Horrible service. My 16-yr-old daughter went here for a full set this weekend. She received only 2 nail tips; the technician said her real nails were too pretty -- even after my daughter asked that her real nails be cut down. The gel polish was applied very sloppily and we had to go back in to get the underside of her nails cleaned up. The undersides were full of glop and just left that way. All this was after she was left waiting, in the chair not in the waiting area, for over 20 minutes while her technician went and did someone else's eyebrows. I firmly believe my daughter was treated like a "kid," not listened to, and just given whatever job they could get away with. The most disappointing thing was that she was paying with her own hard-earned money, just like any adult would. Needless to say, no tip and we'll never go back. Stay away. read more

I have been coming to this salon for years. There are a few good people (Kevin, Bianca and Ann) but the rest are terrible especially Kim. My nails always look so lopsided and this time she rushed me out so fast before my gel polish was dry. I had one experience that was less than stellar and decided to give it another go. I mean, not every tech is the best. Which was the case for my dipped nails. I will never get them again. They didn't even last 24 hours before showing damage... So I went back to get fixed and did acrylic and they are PERFECT. Jenny did a fabulous job. Additionally, my mom and I went for a pedicure after my second experience, and it was honestly the best pedicure I have ever had. I have sensitive skin and HATE IT when I have to ask someone not to exfoliate my legs to the point of pain, or to follow that up with a scorching towel. That was NOT a problem at Spa One. Mao was amazing. My feet felt fabulous after all the time and care she put into my pedicure. My mom had Cindy and loved her experience too. It was such a relief to find a good salon so close to home. I will not be returning. The entire time I was there, the tech tried to up sell and it became quite obnoxious. My nails were lumpy and were so thin around my cuticles that they broke and lifted before two weeks. I gave them a second chance because some techs just aren't the greatest and was appalled at the way another customer was treated when she had a question about her charge from a previous day- and she was there with her small daughter. I went in to get a Brazilian Wax done went home and still had hair down there and is not smooth like it's suppose to and they charged me more then what is advertised. When I called they tried to argue about the price the gave me. Have had my nails done here no problem but I figured a wax would be the same defiantly not. While the salon gives a great pedicure, I've never had so many attempts to "up-sell" me on other, more expanded services than I did at this salon. I got very tired of hearing how much I needed a milk and honey bath for my feet, or how much I would enjoy getting my callouses scrubbed. I had to tell them over and over that I just wanted a classic pedicure--got really old, really fast. I also had a very painful experience getting my gel nails removed--the manicurist had me in tears by the end! Even though she could see it was really painful for me, she just kept ripping and ripping--my nails looked horrible by the time she was done, and I couldn't get away from there fast enough! I'm not sure I'm going back, even if the pedicure was great. I can get a great pedicure somewhere else, with a lot less pressure! read more

I'm from out of town and I happened to be in this area and in need of a pedicure and a manicure. There was a google review and said that it was good and felt too lazy to look up other nail salons. I got there, got a pedicure, the man barely massaged and scrubbed my feet. I've had better. The manicure had streaks in it, i was out in 30 mins for a mani/pedi. Where i usually go, for a mani pedi i'm out in an hour because they really take their sweet time and use the hot towels,different scrubs,lotion, etc overall just better. if you're ever in Alexandria look up Ivy Nails. Wouldn't come back here again, oh, & the polish on my mani chipped TWO DAYS LATER. i didn't know you couldn't apply tip to the charge so the woman asked me why i didn't have cash. anyways, this sums up my experience. read more
