I was a bit hesitant to go and get my mani/pedi but with Mother's Day celebration coming up and almost 2 months of unkept nails, I had to go and get it done. More than anything, I wanted to see how nail salons were changing and adapting due to Covid-19. I was happy to receive a confirmation text that explained the precautions they were taking and what I was to expect during my visit as a client; this put me quite se ease. They told me to have a mask on and wait in my car until they texted me to let me know my technician was ready. I'm glad I remembered my mask! I noticed that clients weren't allowed to touch nail polishes, you would point to bottle and technician would take bottles and place them at your service station. The no touching anything made me very happy. That means they are being extra cautious. My technician was also wearing gloves, a mask, and shield during the whole service. It seemed uncomfortable but definitely necessary. I was very happy with my service overall. Brenda, my nail technician was very attentive and thorough. There was a mis communication, I had booked time for a mani/pedi and told them I'd need extra time because of the condition of my nails but I was only scheduled for pedi. As soon as Brenda made them aware of the situation they did re-arrange the schedule and gave me extra time. I paid 80.00 dollars for my service and I was very pleased. Good service takes time, care, and extra attention. These ladies know how to take care of you. La Posada Spa offers CND products which I learned from my regular nail expert Michelle at Pewter Nails in Reno are the best. Thank you Brenda and thank you La Posada Spa. I'm posting this review on behalf of my mom. She's in her 60s and has a hard time fixing her eyebrows; after much deliberation, she decided to get micro blading done here. She had a consult and paid a few hundred bucks for the procedure. She requested a natural look...nothing like the "fleeky" eyebrows that are trending now. After having two sessions done (the second to really perfect the look, we were told) and a couple of months later, her eyebrows look like they've been sloppily colored in with a brow pencil. It makes me so upset that she went through the expense and discomfort of microblading only to have downright crappy results. read more

I was looking forward to the detox massage and I was completely disappointed.. I was under the steam canopy with no steam for at least 10 mins and letting the girl know and she didn't do much about it until I finally complained. I got no steam for at least 20 mins. Then the suppose 50 min Swedish massage was rushed. . She never asked for any areas of concern so I told her. . Instead of a massage I got lotion rubbed and elbowed on my back. This is not my first massage and for the price I was expecting at least a decent massage after the trouble with the steam canopy. I love coming into Spa La Posada for all of their services! My husband started getting his hair cut here by Daniela, and he loves how she keeps record in her own personal notebook of how he likes his haircut. I decided to get my hair cut by her too since it was half a year since my last trim, and she did a lovely job, and gave me recommendations of products that would work for my hair type without pressuring me to buy anything. I decided to try out their neck and shoulder massage by Melissa, and am now sold on getting monthly massages here! Melissa is very friendly, and loves to get to know her clients, and she is a wonderful masseuse, and makes sure to get very deep into the muscles, which is wonderful since I work in dentistry, and sometimes have to contort my body for my patients! I really love the atmosphere of this spa, and the majority of their prices are fair. My massage was $50, and for a lady's trim is $15. I'm excited to try the other services soon! read more

I have been to places in Los Angeles and Dallas for a professional massage (Massage Envy and Hand & Stone) and Leslie here at Spa La Posada is by far the best masseuse I've ever had. She will find knots in places you didn't even know you had them, she has also told me once where she feels tension and provided me with some at-home remedies to help ease it. There have been times I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep - lol! The front desk staff are always so kind and helpful. If you get there early (or want to check out after your spa services), their boutique, Leona, is always a treat to browse around and has incredible in-season styles. I got a haircut from Alyssa, who is supposed to be a specialist in cutting curly hair. It's so hard to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair, so I was really excited to go to her, and was hoping I'd have a long-term stylist. Unfortunately my experience with her was terrible. This is the first bad review I've ever left for a stylist, but I feel that other people with curly hair who are considering going to her should know what they're getting into. I asked Alyssa to give me a DevaCut, but not take too much off the length, since I've been growing my hair out for years now with the help of DevaCut specialists in other cities. For reference, I've been getting DevaCuts for 5 years now, and while some stylists haven't been great, they've never been bad: at most, my hair grows out badly after a few months. But, the haircut Alyssa gave me was TERRIBLE. She cut off at least 5 inches of my hair - again, which I've been growing for years - and added EXTREMELY bad layers that look like shelves. I'm really disappointed, and hope that other people with curly hair think twice before going to her, or avoid going to her altogether. read more

First, the good news, and only reason SLP gets a second star. I called as a new customer during the holidays when all other spas were completely booked and they not only fit me in, but did so politely. I went in for my shellac manicure and was very satisfied. Running a little late, but the manicurist wasn't rough at all and the application lasted a solid 10 days (a record for me). So, I talked the place up to my mom as an alternative to other better known (and pricier) spas that she frequents, and even bought her a shellac so she could go try it out herself. What a disaster. Not only were they running way behind again, but the application was awful. The manicurist (a different one than mine) scratched one of her nails in the process and refused to redo it. I had to call to have it corrected and the service quickly turned sour. The attendant interrogated me, and then curtly said that they could only fix it the very next day at a certain time or not at all. My mom was so bothered by the whole experience that she didn't even want to go back for the correction. Fine place in a pinch, but proper customer service is worth the few dollars more at other spas. read more

I recently went back to get a massage with woman named Christine and wow. All I am going to say was being my first time getting a massage, I tried my hardest not to fall asleep, ONLY because I knew if I fell asleep...I wasn't going to wake up anytime soon. ha! When you walk into the room you will find it dimly lit, with the "calm meditation" music playing on pandora...and a small little water fountain on Christine's desk. She then tells you exactly what she was going to do and for how long; in this case a full body massage and 50 minutes. Then she tells you about the aroma therapy lotions to pick from and i choose "stress reliever," for obvious reasons. She was delightful and extremely sweet! I am definitely planning on going back. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is because even though it was a pleasant experience, I want to try out other spas. :) read more

I really like this place. The waxing is cheap and the job is done well. I was very satisfied with my eyebrow and leg wax. This place is also a small boutique filled with nice and unique tops, dresses, and jewelry. I love having the option of browsing while waiting for my appointment to come up. I have been coming to Spa La Posada in McAllen for several years now for services such as facials, pedicures, manicures, and numerous brow clean-ups. The facials have been ok, the manicures are good, and the spa pedicures and brow clean-ups are the best. My last service was the Ultimate Spa Pedicure. Lately I have stopped arriving early because the appointments usually start 10-20 minutes late. This last pedicure only started 8 minutes late but the pedicure lasted approximately 59 minutes instead of the 55 minutes indicated on the brochure. I enjoyed those extra few minutes and was glad the 8 minutes were not taken out of my pedicure time. My pedicure did not disappoint and started off with a soak in the foot spa, included a foot scrub that left my feet glowing, and ended with a softening paraffin treatment. My toe nails were filed to perfection and the final color was applied beautifully. I got my pedicure almost 3 weeks ago and my feet still look great. My one complaint for the pedicure is the chairs. I'm only 5'6 and I can't sit comfortably In the chair because I can't adjust for height. I can lean back and this has helped a little. I still make it work because I really enjoy the pedicure. If I was only rating the service, I would have given a 4-5 star rating, but the whole experience has to be taken into consideration. I still don't like having to wait so long for a simple service like a brow cleanup and absolutely can't stand having to wait past my appointment time for a service that is way more expensive, like my pedicures. I understand running a little past the appointment sometimes but it's been past due every single time, no matter what day of the week I go. Keep in mind that the spa services are also double what you would pay in a regular place. Please work on the appointment start times! read more

I have been wanting to come here for a while. I was able to get an appointment very last minute- as in 30 min before! It's very nice walking in. I really enjoyed my manicure & pedicure. Ana did an amazing job and I will definitely be going back! I hadn't had a mani/pedi in years so you can just imagine the state of ugly my feet and hands were in! Also, with me being so pale she knew exactly what to do to reduce the redness and gave me solutions for further care the same day. Sent my 12 year old in for "The Princess". During the Manicure/Pedicure Astrid neglected to let the polish dry before having her change for her facial. Subsequently, her toes were smeared badly, missing sections of polish and surface of nails got all lumpy. Also, there was polish left all over the edges of her skin where she painted skin and didnt remove polish, very sloppy! Neither the stylist or management cared about fixing anything. Acted totally unprofessional. They should have fixed it right then and there. Instead, they told us to come back in hour and a half!!! RUDE!! Think twice before you book here. Not very "taken care of you" place. Very low brow mentality.There are many better options out there than this place! read more

I got a shellac manicure and it was the worst shellac job I had ever gotten. My manicurist was late on top of rushing her job. Only reason I came was because I had a gift certificate, otherwise I would have refused to pay for such horrible service.
