This is a long review and I've waited a long time to write this so that I could include my experiences with my eyebrow tattoo over time. I had my eyebrows done by Sharon in 2015 and am beyond THRILLED with them; I tell everyone it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. I know several people who've done eyebrow tattoos in 5 star places in ktown or elsewhere and even they are always saying they think mine look better.
Sharon is not only an artist, but a pragmatist. She'll ask you about your makeup routine and office culture to get a sense for what eyebrow fits your lifestyle. Understanding that I work at a conservative office and rarely do full of makeup, Sharon suggested a very natural shade and shape. She was very up front that to keep my eyebrows perfect yet natural will require more maintenance than someone who is OK with darker brows; I appreciated that she set my expectation in that regard.
Next, Sharon drew a shape with a very dark charcoal pencil (at this point she's drawing for shape, not color). Her first drawing was close but not exactly what I was looking for. I told her I wanted the tail longer, and she complied explaining that she was comfortable with my request, but she typically errs on the side of being more conservative because we can always add but not take away at the touch up appointment. I appreciate that approach. At that point I was happy with each eyebrow's shape, but felt they looked asymmetrical. Sharon and I had to go back and forth a few times until we were both comfortable to proceed.
In discussing color, I brought Sharon 2 eyebrow pencils I use, which were Anastasia in medium ash and Maybelline define-a-brow in blonde ash. She said she felt the Maybelline color suited me better and would take that into consideration when mixing my custom color. Sharon mixed a custom color and showed me before proceeding. When I was done, I was nervous because my eyebrows had that brown-red color, but do not panic! Sharon explained the reddish color is blood under the skin, and my eyebrows would not be red when healed! She was of course 100% correct, but just keep that in mind so you don't panic. I was comfortable going back into work right away, but not everyone is comfortable having dark (they lighten over about a week), greasy (from the healing ointment) eyebrows at the office, so plan accordingly.
Now a few people here mention Sharon has an attitude so I wanted to address that. My experience with Sharon is that she's fair, professional and informative, but as with any semi-/permanent service, you will be a happier customer if you are well researched, prepared and ready to walk away if at any point you are uncomfortable. Sharon has brand integrity and she will not do work that she is not comfortable with, i.e. if someone wants a style that is too unnatural or dramatic, she will decline your business and refund your deposit. I also had an eyeliner appointment with her a month ago and she noted my eczema that day was bad (it was) and that she was not comfortable I would heal well. I asked her a few "but what if I..." (can't blame me for trying lol) but she was very firm that she felt her integrity would be compromised if she proceeded. I was disappointed, but understood, and we are going to re-evaluate whether I can be a candidate after I've treated my eczema. She also offered to refund my deposit or move my deposit to a future eyebrow appointment, which was awesome.
I think there are also reviewers here who are upset that her business model is not "take your time, I'm happy to be here all day to make you happy." I know how scary it is getting any semi-/permanent service, but we wouldn't go to a body tattoo artist or a plastic surgeon without being well researched, prepared and ready to walk away if we couldn't get comfortable, would we? Sharon is not "my way or the highway" - I wasn't comfortable with her first drawing and she did many re-drawings and adjustments based on my feedback, and reminded me that if I wanted to think more on it, we could reschedule or cancel and she would refund me. I know that model isn't for everyone, but it works for me and I respect that her appointments need to start and end at a certain time, so if we can't agree on a shape within 30 minutes or so, the appointment can't happen that day, but can be rescheduled.
Anyway, once you've made it through your first appointment and you love your eyebrows, all future visits are lightning fast and stress-free. Sharon knows what you want, you know what to expect, and it's a joy coming to see her. The first appointment was stressful because I've never had a permanent makeup service done before, so the entire thing felt epic and I had a thousand questions, but our next appointments have been fun and relaxing and and we chat about her family, current events, etc. I'm a customer for life and have yet to see better work by anyone read more
