I made an appointment with a friend ahead of time. Once we arrived, we were sat for our pedis quickly. The service itself was good, gave you the full 30 minutes which included a small foot massage (that I very much needed) only thing I didn't like is they wouldn't dig deep into your nail. When I asked to cut the sides, I was told no due to the risk of infection. Which sucks because my nails usually dig into the side, so that was a down fall. I discovered this place right in my hometown when I was 15 years old through a friend in high school. I remember the first time my friend took me, I fell in LOVE with the pedicures. Now I live alone up in north Jersey, but when I come back to see my parents every weekend, I try and go in for a pedicure (too bad my nail polish stays literally perfect for up to a month so I don't have the excuse to get one, ha!). But there are days when I'm stressed and just dream "I could go for a pedicure at Aree right now". They massage you for at least 15 minutes up to the knees (so wear shorts or yoga pants that can be rolled up!) before grooming your toes and painting them. It's heaven on earth! The pedicures are $25, but I spend at least $30 always because tip. I've gotten regular manis, and a couple Shellac/gel manis over the years, but I don't think there is anything really mentionable about that. It's good! Nothing fantastic, nothing bad in the slightest (no horror cuticle bleeding stories). Gets the job done & pretty! I'm a regular at this place for pedicures, and they know me by voice on the phone without even mentioning my name hahaha. I beg my mother to come with me to try it out for herself, but she refuses to spend money on "things like that" for herself. However, she'll give me money from time to time to treat myself out to Aree cause she knows how much I indulge in my time there! Went for a gel pedicure after I booked an appointment for the day prior. The pedicure was sadly rushed, there was little to no relax time in the water. They began trimming while the skin was dry. Getting a French gel pedicure, the charged 50 for it, charging five dollars per toe for the French. I don't pay that much at nice spa... the massage was nice but not worth 50$. Rock Nails and spa in wall does a much nicer job for half the price. I can add that the girls were practically laying on the floor because they wouldn't do the painting portion in the chairs. I've been going to Aree for quite some time now and honestly, they are the best around here. One thing I must say, I will only go to Ellen for my nails anymore! Not that the other nail techs are not good, I just truly feel that Ellen takes her time to make sure every little detail is taken care of! She is very thorough. I never feel rushed, and she is always so pleasant and conversational. That really makes a difference. Everyone is very nice when you enter and even when you leave. I went to Aree based on a suggestion from a coworker, who raved about the 30 minute foot massage and quality of pedicure overall. That being said, I was disappointed with my experience. It was not a 30 minute foot massage, it was 28 minutes of having lotion unenthusiastically spread (NOT massaged) into my LEGS, followed by 2 minutes total of lazy massage on my feet. Pros: - You can call and get a same day appointment. - You will be given a card to keep track of every time you use cash to pay for your visit. Once you have spent $350 in their establishment on any service, you will be given a free pedicure. - Open till 7:30pm. Cons: - Crowded - Pedicurists being distracted with conversation between themselves, getting up to answer phones, perform other tasks, etc. - If you have callouses they will not be scrubbed or worked on at all. - Your cuticles will not be properly pushed back and trimmed. - Your toenails will be cut and filed asymmetrically. Overall, I wouldn't even care if I didn't get a foot massage. What I care about is exfoliation, cuticles, callouses, and nail shape. My feet are in the exact same condition they were in when I walked through the door, save the different nail polish. Cuticles look sloppy and callouses were not treated at all. read more

I used to like this place when I lived in the area and now that I am back for most of the summer, I've come back and been disappointed overall. When receiving a pedicure, she used this exfoliant type soap that was so incredibly painful, I was near tears. When she rinsed it off, my legs were COVERED in a very visible rash. I could tell she was trying to ignore the fact that I had a rash. I asked her about it and she said it happens from the soap she was using and a lot of people ask not to have it. Why would this be part of a regular pedicure then? Weird. Also, my last manicure was rushed through in less than 10 minutes. I'm all about being in and out of there but I feel like all she did was paint my nails. I think I'm just going to stick to my salon in hoboken from now on. read more

They spend about 30 minutes massaging and moisturizing your legs and feet, I never feel rushed like you sometimes do at other places. They will take walk in's in front of you and then keep telling you 5 more minutes, 5 more minutes each time you ask. Love this nail salon! I had an appointment here for a gel mani and I was taken promptly and in and out within 25 minutes! Usually other nail salons take forever. But this salon is highly efficient and gets the job done for a good price. They shaped the nails perfectly, polish looked great I just wish they had a bit more color selection. But it doesn't matter because my manicure lasted the full 2 weeks-chip free! Usually at other places my gel still manages to chip and I end up paying more than Aree! The service sucks PERIOD. I have been a very loyal client over the years. Tip $20 during the holidays for EACH manicurist AND pedicurist, then $10 on a pedicure any other time and usually $5 for a plain manicure NOT GEL plus I bring my own polish - and yet I get treated like crap. I've given them a lot of chances, but it's really unacceptable at this point. I make countless appointments to only be told to wait sometimes up to 20 minutes. It's my birthday today and they still made me wait 10 minutes to then have me get a rushed 8 minute manicure (I TIMED IT!!!!) that cost $15. I had to ask the manicurist to clean under my nails and buff them lol. This place is a joke. Now because my nails were done before my pedicure which I repeatedly asked for them not to do, one of my nails got fudged which is going to make me be here longer, fixing something I shouldn't have even had to. At every nail salon unless you specifically ask for it you always get a pedicure FIRST! But of course they didn't tell me it'd be switched until I was 4 minutes/halfway done with my nails so I couldn't even leave. Oh and did I mention they KNOW I'm on a time crunch because it's my birthday. I unfortunately have to come here one more time to use a free pedicure punch card I had which conveniently they failed to mention I could have used today. Moral of the story please GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. This place rushes you, charges you top dollar, and makes you wait excessively. I tried to be as patient and loyal as I can, but this is probably the 5th or 6th time I've waited over ten minutes, been rushed through my service, and just rudely greeted (I had to interrupt them twice just for them to acknowledge me when I arrived lol NO JOKE) it's comical reading out loud. I've been here twice. First time I had a pedicure only. I went because of the good reviews. It was definitely worth the $25. The girl massaged my legs and feet for a good 10 minutes. Wish she spent more time on massaging my feet instead of my legs but she looked extremely tired and I didn't want to complain. The second time I had a mani/pedi. Again the pedicure was well worth the money but the manicure was way too much money for what I got. The same girl did not do my manicure. I asked for a buff and shine because my polish always chips on my hands and I didn't want a gel manicure. The regular manicure is $12. The buff and shine is $17. It only took about 5 minutes for the whole manicure. My fingers were not even soaked to soften the nails. She cut and filed them and then asked me to wash my hands. Then she put cuticle oil on my nails and cut my cuticles. She put some cream on my hands for a quick massage. After that she opened up a new buffer and shined my nails and then was done. I asked if I could have the buffer and she said no. I thought this was way too quick and why charge $5 more when I didn't even use polish. Surely she could have given me the buffer since it couldn't have cost more than $2. I'm disappointed that they don't offer a discount for a mani/pedi like other salons do. I will still go back for pedicures but not manicures. read more

The owner or manager constantly paces back and forth and it takes away from the reason why you are there; to RELAX! The shop is also extremely over crowded. You are literally sitting on top of the person next to you. My gel manicure chipped after two days. I'm going back to Tiffany's. ONLY COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE MADE FUN OF BY THE STAFF! I guess they're doing something right because this place was packed when I went. I had a 4:00 pedicure appointment, and didn't get seated until 4:30 which is annoying. The place is long and narrow and it took forever to get to the back because it was so cramped and everyone was trying to get by. I finally sat in the pedicure chair and the woman doing my feet was a Spanish speaking woman. If you look at me for two seconds you can tell I am a Spanish speaking person as well, but that didn't stop her from making fun of me to her co-workers. They were tearing the whole place apart calling women fat and making fun of people from across the room. They were saying the rudest things and were obviously laughing. The fact that they were able to look at my face, and then still talk like that around me was astounding. It just shows that they do it all the time and don't think twice about it. Later on one woman asked the other what time it was and I responded in Spanish hoping they would be embarrassed. They didn't flinch at all. The only pro was that they do give you a long foot and leg massage. I will not be back! read more
