The new assigned seating is in effect. Some have said it is worse than before, but having an assigned seat is far easier than wandering the aisle hoping for an aisle or window seat. It also seems to have sped up loading times. The queue prosses is about the same as before. Instead of lining up next to posts with number on them, there are boarding groups 1-6 that will be called out. The main adavantage I can see with having an earlier boarding is making sure you can get a spot for your carry-on. I have been in boarding groups 3-6 on various flights and I always found an overhead spot. There have been a couple flights I was on that were not full, but some rows were empty while middle seats were filled. The flight attendants were strict about staying in your assigned seat even if there were empty rows. On another flight two weeks later there was an empty row in the back, and the flight attendant shuffled a few people around to free up some middle seats. Maybe they are relaxing a little bit about assigned seating if there are empty ones. Loading went about as smooth as it did before the assigned seating went into effect. Service is still great and friendly, flights left and arrive on time, and I will continue to fly with Southwest.

I LOVE SWA!! I am too afraid to try other carriers for quick trips (you know, like Spirit and Frontier.. lol). The staff is always super nice, and on some flights, they're hilarious! I have had a few flights delayed, but I can't think of a horrible situation that was THAT bad. The Reno-Tahoe staff here was just as awesome and upbeat as any other Southwest Airlines crew I've encountered at other airports. Please do believe I love the perks that come with the credit card, too. I mean, who doesn't love 2 free checked bags and flights that cost $5.60? I'm all for that!!

Upgraded $59 extra fee for this "more legroom" seat.

Was one of first several passengers to board. Carried nothing but a single bag; one bag that meets UNDER seat standards, which has been easily placed under airline seats at least 20+ times before. I had upgraded my standard seat to a $59 "more legroom" seat in the aisle (2D). However, couldn't place bag under upgraded $59 "more legroom" seat because there was a bar in the middle of my under seat storage area while the passenger's area next to me had a full area plus a portion of my area without a bar. Not only that, I didn't have "more legroom" since I had to keep legs confined to a tiny area, or separated and couldn't move legs freely. Bag had to go to overhead storage: The flight attendant was rude and hateful to me, indicating I didn't need anything from my bag during the flight when I told her that if I didn't have my underseat bag accessible under the seat, I would need some things from it. She had an attitude and told me to STAND in my seat row while I was getting personal items (water, phone, etc) out of bag before it had to be placed in overhead. Suddenly, I was bashed on the head by the storage compartment door when she forcefully opened it with latch behind me to adjust or put someone else's bag in. This flight experience was bad in several ways. Southwest is the only airline that flies nonstop between these cities so I'll probably fly them again, but I will never pay extra for a Southwest "more legroom" seat again. It's a ripoff and unethical practice.

We had a wonderful trip on Christmas Day 2024. They treated us really nice. the flight was moved, and everything went well. Just about every time I fly with this hardline things go well.

1.3.24: Returning home after spending the holiday in my soon to be home of Idaho. Normally, you feel some turbulence flying into Reno, but tonight it went pretty smoothly. During my flight there and back, I had no issues and was able to get beverage service on each flight. Due to turbulence, there have been many times beverage service has been cancelled but of course, it's not Southwest's fault. My favorite airline to fly with is Southwest only because of the 2 bags fly free and have found it's the most cost effective way for me to travel. The majority of times, staff and flight attendants are nice and helpful. I've even had some flight attendants honor an expired drink coupon after explaining beverage service was cancelled on my last flight because of turbulence. That's really cool of them and definitely not expected. Overall, from the check-in process, to in-flight service, and collecting of luggage--I'm pretty satisfied with Southwest Airlines.

Special kudos to…read moreKimberly at United gate B12 in Salt Lake City on Sept 13 2024 at 6am for her understanding, patience, explanations, and all-around positive attitude. The not-so-good: We were delayed twice during our trip. First, a tire had to be changed, then per policy a second tire had to be changed. I'm glad they found the problem while the plane was still on the ground, but to my layman's mind it seems it could have been faster to change the tire after all the passengers deplaned. Perhaps they could get training from a Nascar pit crew? Just kidding - I'd rather be safe than take a chance and I'm glad they caught the problem and fixed it. The second delay was on our return trip when another maintenance issue was discovered. Again, I'm glad they caught it, but I wondered why they hadn't caught it sooner as this was the first flight of the day and the plane had been in a hangar all night - seems like it would have been inspected when it first went into the hangar.

Our flight had already been delayed for approximately two hours, and we were simply trying to find out which gate we were being moved to. When we asked the employee at C8 for information, his response was, "You can wait in line and find out," and he said it with a dismissive attitude. What made the situation even more frustrating is that we paid for First Class tickets. I understand that flight delays happen and may be outside the employees' control, but basic courtesy and professionalism are not. We weren't asking for special treatment--we were simply asking for information about our flight. For the amount passengers pay, especially for First Class, I expected a much higher level of customer service. The way we were spoken to at both C3 and C8 was completely unacceptable and made an already frustrating delay significantly worse.

As always, I checked my hard sided Pelican gun case secured with 2 large padlocks When i arrived in Dallas my gun case was the first piece of baggage off the carousel. This was odd as guns are typically hand carried to the office. The first thing I notice is there's a padlock missing and the double hasps lined with steel are completely ripped open. I made a beeline to the baggage office The first thing the attendant asks is "Are there guns in there" "There were. Im hoping they still are" He tells me to scan a code and file a claim saying "Guns are supposed to be hand carried here not put on the conveyor " He was right because anyone could have stolen them I start the claim process then walk outside to verify the guns, silencer and everything else is there. They were but now I have no way to transport them home because the case has been compromised AA tells me to either buy another gun case and locks or ship the guns homeand send the receipt for reimbursement. I send pictures, receipts, details, etc. i ask for $400 to pay for the case, shipping, etc AA denies the claim as cosmetic damage even though they admitted i couldn't fly with gunns in this case because it couldn't be locked If you get a live person they lie to you and pass the buck. These lovely pieces of work gave us such a hard time over our carry-ons. I swear they seemed to enjoy trying to get us to pay for extra luggage. I've never seen anything quite like it. They were rude, disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I believe Spirit Airline would be better off, without these ladies in their employ. Renesha asked my if my last name was "Mexican" and I replied "I'm third generation American and I served honorably in the military, and to my best I do believe the roots of my surname can be traced back to Mexico and then further to Spain" She sneered derisively and announced to all around that we would have to pay $99 for our carry-on. Stephanie smile, so big, as to imply the charge was making her day! I asked Stephanie "why does charging people extra money make you so happy?" She chortled and said back "I don't know, it's just funny" Funny? Charging people $99 was funny to Stephanie, and at this point as if to help Stephanie make her point. Araceli, also began to laugh. Apparently I was not in on the joke. Also my bags were not full. And FAA approved carryons so I consolidated and this just made these girls livid. They insisted we had to pay that our bags were too big. Araceli asked me to put my bag in the carryon bin. It fit, she gasped, and then my wife was told to put her purse in the same carryon measuring bin. She did and her purse also fit. Araceli asked me to put my bag in again, but I just started to board and Ranesha begrudgingly scanned my boarding passes. Defeated. But I'm not done, I'm going to complain to Spirit Customer Service and the FAA about these children. We flew on Spirit flight 1635 out of gate C11 in the Reno airport at 10:40 am.
