Thanks for getting us here even though it seems the airline broke our reservation up/apart so that the passenger who booked with the Southwest rewards card was separate from the other three to possibly get bag fees? We will certainly be calling customer service to figure out what is going on but this is not how we booked and we will be learning from this experience to make sure it doesn't happen again - and it hasn't happened in the past either. First time flying Southwest into and out of Hobby Houston. On time arrival, but a very delayed flight out by hours. So why the four stars? Exceptional flight crew flying in. Extra snacks and full cans of water. Bejurve it or not this is unusual. On time arrival into Houston. Great communication when delay was initiated and called my name on overhead to arrange bags. Very unexpected meal vouchers of $15 each. No issues with departure on adjusted timeline. Checked luggage was handled appropriately and arrived at final. I will continue to be loyal although the new baggage fees hurt this time around with vacation. The new boarding worked fine. read more

I'm loving the total remodel of Houston Hobby airport. It's close to my family so I like flying in. Southwest has been flying here for years. They've added a whole lot more restaurants and services. TSA line moves very quickly and I always have smooth sailing getting in and out of this airport. While the George Washington airport has more flight options this one has the options I need and is always fast and easy. read more

They make NO accommodations for people with connecting flights. They make it impossible to catch your connecting flight without sprinting to the next gate. They make sure to land at the farthest gate from your connecting flight and then change the gate at the last minute to make you run laps around the fucking airport. I have been a faithful customer since the early 2000s however I recently the WORST flying experience I have had in many years on any airline. End to end technology issues and changes to the boarding process are ruining the customer experience. The app and website are now poorly designed, charged me for two bags that were not added to my reservation. Could not print my bag tag at the kiosk. Ended up having to wait in line to check my bag. When we got to the gate the gate agent was horrible. The boarding system screens were never updated to show the appropriate boarding groups, so people were confused. The boarding order and number of groups makes boarding slower causing several backups and more waiting on a hot jet bridge. A technician was working on the plane system simultaneously and identified some "alerts" or chimes were not working so that needed reprogramming causing more delays when we were already on the plane. FIRE THE CIO and COO. Southwest was so much better when things were simple and they actually worked. read more

Since SW is now charging for bags Im hoping they will upgrade some other things with the extra money. I proceeded to walk inside to check my bags and noticed there was a counter outside to check your bags. Please beware! The way they word things is tricky. They tell you its $3 a bag if you check them outside. Thats incorrect. Its $35 for the first checked bag plus an additional $3 charge to check you bag OUTSIDE. I'd much rather go inside with the a/c than to stand outside and do it. They even had the nerve to have a tip cup. I mean we arrive early to the airport for a reason. Very disappointed with how I was treated by Southwest today while traveling on military orders. My original itinerary was HOU to LAX to SJC but due to delays out of Houston I was going to miss my connection in LAX. Southwest rebooked me on Flight 3378 from HOU to DEN at Gate 48 to get me to SJC instead. I remained patient and did not make a fuss about the change. After boarding while passengers were still getting seated I briefly called my sisters. A flight attendant asked me to get off the phone and I immediately wrapped up the call in about ten seconds to say goodbye. About five minutes later I was unexpectedly asked to gather my things and was escorted off the aircraft for being non compliant. I was extremely confused because I had already complied with the instruction given. I was never asked a second time never warned and was not given the opportunity to explain what happened. The manager assisting Lela Jackson said she would rebook my flight free of charge but that misses the point. I should not have been removed from the aircraft in the first place. When I asked for the name of the flight attendant involved so I could properly document the situation I was told it was against policy to provide that information. I am requesting that Southwest review the incident reports and crew documentation from Flight 3378 to understand why a passenger who complied with an instruction was removed without warning or further communication. Passengers deserve fairness and the opportunity to clarify misunderstandings before being removed from a flight. read more

My daughter and I had a flight to Minneapolis with a connection in Denver August 6. The aircraft took a 25-30 minutes to depart, which caused us to almost miss our connecting flight. Then Sunday the 10, we flew from Minneapolis to Houston with a connection in Chicago. Once again, the aircraft took 45 minutes to depart causing us to miss our connecting flight home. So they rebooked us to Memphis with a continuation to Houston, but we had to stay in Chicago Midway for 5.5 hours. As we boarded our flight, I noticed a flight attendant that was rude, short and unprofessional. (I won't use her name here, but I did send a message to SW airlines in regard this flight attendants attitude.) Anyway, the whole Southwest experience was terrible at best. This is probably a review of this new Southwest airlines and not so much my recent trip but here goes anyway. My once most fun airline in the world with friendly service, transparent pricing, and great efficiency, has now gone down the road of what they call evolution but seems more like de-volution and a nosedive into mediocrity. With their recent changes, rather than elevating the customer experience, they have left loyalist that have loved the airline throughout the years questioning what made the airline fun, unique and the one I want to fly with in the first place. I recently took a trip to Cabo and this was my first flight since the announced changes. I was hoping that it was just doom and gloom news stories and it would be the same Southwest, boy was I wrong. In the past, Southwest offered two free checked bags, no change fees, and an open seating policy that to me was super simple and I enjoyed. My, my, my how things have changed already. While all of the changes are not in place yet, the airline already feels like a relic of its past. Super slow boarding because everyone now has a carryon and full bins on both legs of my trip, and to go along with the slow boarding, the de-boarding is just as slow as everyone now has to get those same bags off, this is not what we are used to. I wont get into all of the other announced changes because they didnt effect me on this trip but im pretty sure they are not going to make things better, how could they? You cant dress up a pig with the phrase "enhancements" and I not still recognize a pig; fewer flight attendants per cabin, less flexible ticket change rules, and negative chamges to the frequent flyer benefits program, how is this supposed to be better for me the customer. Rather than refining what made them special, unassigned seating, two free checked bags, drink coupons etc., Southwest seems to be in the middle of a mid-life or identity crisis; not the luxury of Delta or United, no seatback screens, limited food options, or first class and not the cheapness of Spirit or Allegent, flight prices are normally in line with American, Delta, United, JetBlue etc. So you want to be just another middle to bottom of the road carrier following the same path to mediocracy with the pack of the other carriers with an uninspiring direction? What hasn't changed however is the greatest customer service all of the employees, the gate agents, luggage people, pilots, flight attendants and anyone else that I came in contact with were the most wonderful, helpful, nice and attentive people that you will come across, I wish so much better for all of the employees as they are truly what Southwest has always been about. While Southwest seems to be trying appeal to everyone, they are more likely appealing to no one with this new Southwest. If you are just another airline and nothing makes you special then you arent special therefore I can just pick a name out the hat and make my next travel arrangements as you are all the same. While the jury is still out as the company could reverse course, for now enjoy them while you can because coming soon is just another average airline. So sad. read more

I always find their prices better than other airlines; but of course it depends on where you're traveling to. For me, Southwest is my go to first. Most Southwest terminals are clean, easy to find and close to plenty of restaurants and shops. I absolutely love flying Southwest! I find that the employees are both efficient and effective. I've only experienced great customer service with Southwest. I love that you are able to upgrade your boarding position at a reasonable price and I usually do. I appreciate that wheelchair assistance has been consistent and easy whether I book in advance or they meet me at the gate. SO HELPFUL and convenient when traveling with seniors with mobility challenges. This is a blessing... And lastly I find (if booking early enough and sometimes last minute) that the ticket prices and flight options (days/times/airport connection cities) are way better compared to other airlines I've used. Oh, and a few on the crew always make me laugh during some point in flight. Bonus: You can ask for as many snacks as you want, too! read more

Some people might have a love hate relationship with Southwest Airlines, but you cannot beat the options for travel from weekend getaways to companion airfares. As of this review, Southwest is one of only two airlines (UA) that offer flights to Cuba from the US. Now in order to make this journey, there are some requirements especially trying to obtain a D'Viajeros visa. After trying to obtain said visa from official government channels and eventually receiving visa through a Third Party service (which come to find out the Southwest Airlines utilize). We arrive at the check in counter and see the sign with a QR code for visa registrations to various countries (good to know for next time). If you are flying to certain countries, Southwest will verify, input every thing in their computer terminals and gate agents at your next segment will reverify/certify that all documents are in order before you are allowed to board the flight. I did not mind the extra precaution because you do not want to be stuck in limbo in another country because you were missing a piece of paper. This is for travel to Cuba, hold on to all STAMPED boarding passes entering and exiting the country. Take pictures of those documents also. Now for flights in the US, the prices are very affordable and offer very flexible timeframes for flights. I almost forgot...a BIG and GRATEFUL THANK YOU to Connie and Jeanette at Gate C43 from Tampa (Southwest Airlines), you definitely made the beginning our journey hilarious and memorable!!!! read more

I am all for safety and consistency however, his larger than life self felt it necessary to make me get out of line to place my small bag into my backpack (I also had a roller bag). I understand the two bag limit however, the small bag houses my phone which I needed to scan my boarding pass. His whole demeanor was condescending towards the audience waiting to board. The flight was good when we left Cali,but on the way back was another story. The same exact thing happened last July(24). Our flight home was delayed and we had to go to Las Vegas to get home. We are getting home extra late again. We called to let the airlines know how big of an inconvenience this was and was given a $50.00 LUV Voucher. Mind you I had my disabled brother with me in July and he was NOT doing good. Anyway, I'm having flashbacks again. I used to LOVE SWA, but now I tolerate it. I hope they get better. Today I flew from New Orleans (MSY) to Houston Hobby then into Las Vegas. I love flying Southwest, but today was my 3rd trip in a row where the Wifi was inoperable. If there is anything you can do to either upgrade the Wifi or find some type of preventive maintenance to ensure the Wifi works for the customers that would be great. Had an absolutely wonderful flight on Southwest Air. Board, departure, flight and landed was all perfect.... Even arrived a few minutes early. Actually got to see hundreds of firework shows during the flight.
