So, we were scheduled to fly out of this airline this morning through a trip I booked on all inclusive outlet. We arrived at the kiosk to check in our luggage and was directed to the check in counter. We waited over 5 minutes before we could check the luggage in, to be told we were late and they could not accommodate us. All the while, three agents who were helping a lady with a child.(who missed her flight to) We were directed to wait until all customers had checked their luggage and told they us we do not not have anymore direct flights to our destination. I ask what options did we have. I was told we could catch a flight at 5:48 this evening with an overnight layover in Florida or catch a flight out the next morning with a layover in Fort Lauderdale. In addition, I was charged an additional $198 or $99 per person for an amendment to the flight. At no time did the agents show any consideration or compassion to our situation. No manager available to talk to, no effort to let the airline know, all our queries and questions were answered with no, you were late. They used the excuse it was an international flight. Emailed their customer service after being told nothing could be done over the phone, my Manuel, supposedly a supervisor. All the be offered two $33 vouchers. I would highly caution and suggest not using this airline, as they are shabby and did not go to extra mile to get us on our flight. So, now we have lost one day of our vacation and being inconvenienced by flights out at 5:48 in the morning, with an arrival time to our destination at 12:59. Booked a flight on Spirit Airlines from Houston to Newark ROUNDTRIP. Utilizing CheapOAir. Hours before the return fight was to board, Spirit Airlines CANCELLED the return flight. No reason given. (Weather was NOT a factor). After scrambling to get a flight back, through CheapOAir AND Spirit, in time to get back to work, ON TIME, the best they can do was a day later. Meaning I would miss a day of work. Utilizing another airline, the one I usually use, I found a flight home that could get me back to work, ON TIME. Then, when I asked for a refund on the return flight, all I could get was a Spirit flight credit. Presuming I would EVER fly with Spirit again. And if I do, CheapOAir gets a cut of the deal (flight credit). I think what will happen, since I cancelled the second return flight booking, CheapOAir and Spirit will rebook my seat, and get paid by me AND the new traveler. Sad business ethics and neither will get my business again. But they won't even feel this. It's what they do. This is their business model. read more

I am writing to express my frustration regarding an issue with my Free Spirit Rewards account. I attempted to access my account to make reservations for my son and I using my rewards, but despite multiple attempts, the system would not allow me to access my accounts. Mine you this has been an issue in the past, reservationist made the reservation. When I contacted customer service for assistance, I was told that they were unable to make the reservation for me using my rewards, but could for my son WOW. I informed customer service I was in queue for technical support, but wait is 2 hrs 55 mins. She informed me I had to hold for that almost 3 hrs to get help. Spirit Airlines customer service line is absolutely horrible. First of all, I should have known it was an omen when I booked a flight and Spirit changed the departure and return. On the day of departure, the flight was delayed 3 times, so far the next flight is for the next day at 6am. When calling customer service they only offered to refund or rebook. At this rate a refund isn't nearly comparable to the rate of flights considering the fact that tickets were booked 3 months ago. I regret giving Spirit another shot. We all know it's no frills. If it's a 45 minute flight and you are just carrying a purse or backpack and expect nothing, you won't be disappointed. If you realize that you are paying for your seat, paying for water, paying for your carry-on, paying for every little thing while getting bare bones, you will not be disappointed. If you don't know these things, you will soon realize that by the time you are nickel and dimed to death, you might as well have gone and paid the extra $50-$70 for a better airline because you will pay more than that for an minimally padded seat with no seat pocket on this airline. Don't get me wrong, the staff has been fabulous, the crew got me to my destination each time so it's not the crew. I am here about policies. I am a frequent flyer, this was a last minute trip, I knew what to expect, I knew luggage weight restrictions, I get it. Upon checking in my luggage I was told it was $79. This is the overweight charge. By the way while most airlines limits are 50lbs, Spirit is 40lbs. My bag was less than 40 lbs. Even the clerk couldn't understand or explain the charge. He double checked the weight and the charge but it was still at $79. Well here I was, stuck between a rock and a hard place because I need my luggage and also need to be timely in the airport. I was unsure of how to proceed. And thought I could address it afterwards. Wrong. Not only is there no recourse to this overcharge, but I am just left feeling like I have been taken advantage of. Rude staff High charges for bags No customer awareness This was my only option due to a last minute trip for business For starts there is no one that is willing to help you check in, to pay for your bags, they just point fingers, and I have been traveling for many years, so you would think you know what to expect, but the airport in Houston was a bad experience for starts, I paid about $180 for two bags luggage, and carry on. But it felt like robots pointing people to do things a certain way. They were not rude, but they had no emotion, no sense of help to anyone. The seats, you have to purchase a specific seat and pay extra, if not is random, heck I would have paid $89 to upgrade to a big seat since my flight was only $200, but here again families are separated, because they are not aware this is not South West airlines or United. The young lady next to me, on my Vegas flight was going to seat down next to her mom, and her sister, another Spirit person gave up her seat, she was off , but the flight attendant jumped and yelled at me, and at everyone, no you can't do that blah, blah, in the end she did move, it was ok the other girl explained it's fine they are a family. On my way back to Vegas a young couple and their one year old were separated by two rows and the mom was alone in the entire row. We asked if they could move, flight attendant says no, not yet because boarding wasn't completely done, so we get it, but I was willing to move so they can set together, we asked again, she said it's to late you should have asked sooner, in the end I moved so the mom can move, but again no sense of customer service. I will like to talk about this robot self check ins, in Vegas, they are garbage, and the people running it were also incompetent, once you did your ticket check in on your own, paid for your bags no problem, ticket your own bags, which people helped each other, and the five ladies working couldn't care less. Well after that you have to put your bag in, they have this new conveyer that reads the tag and throws it in, very cool if it worked, but it took one lady 40 minutes to get it going, the other 4 could've got on a computer, and start helping people, but that didn't happen. I can only imagine this being a company thing where they want to say and prove it works, it may one day, but not with the people you have working for you in Vegas airport. Rough Flights, no free water, I don't mind paying, but at $4 a bottle of water is way more expensive than my $2.69 a gallon of gas, no snack no nothing. All has to be paid. WiFi is a high charge as well. Download your content before traveling with this airline. Bottom line Cheap tickets $200 round trip. But I would've rather pay my $489 with United. I wish I could give NEGATIVE stars, but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest rating that I could give and they won't let us take any away. They charged me TWICE for a trip I didn't get ro make on two separate business accounts for a planned trip to Vegas that I made the mistake of trying to book through Priceline/Booking.com (Another separate horrible review). However, being naive to the online boarding pass process having not flown in well over 20 yrs (Pre 9/11, in fact), the fact that the only crucial information related to me by Priceline or either of my airlines (Frontier departng and Spirit returning) was an email highlighted in red lettering letting me know that I needed to arrive at least an hour prior to the flight, caused me to not be able to make my trip and none of the companies that took my money cared or offered to make things right. Nobody told me until I was at the airport stranded that I had to go online and secure my boarding pass sometime within the 24 hrs prior to flight departure with a CUTOFF of 2 HRS PRIOR TO THE FLIGHT!!! To cut a super long story into just a really long story, because I arrived at the airport about 90-100 mins early thinking that I had everything I needed to make my trip without having secured my boarding pass online by 2 HRS to 24HRS sooner, I had already lost not only the $1200.00 I'd invested in the trip that the hotel, shuttle car company, and airlines split, but SPIRIT double dipped and hit me for an additional $152.00 that they ALSO did not give back for the SAME TRIP that I'm STILL fighting with my BofA (Yet ANOTHER horrible yelp review I'll be making regarding this whole mess) business account over. I originally was trying to pay for my trip through the Booking site and the offers would close so fast that by the time I went to process my payment, the deal would be gone, so I decided to try from 2 different business accounts with the intention of whichever one went through 1st, I'd immediately accept and stop trying with the other account. I did EXACTLY that, but the problem was that each time I tried to accept the agreed upon trip package and price, the involved parties in the trip package would hit my account for various hold amounts and then later credit back the money that was taken. Which was fine except Spirit didn't fix THEIR screwup and credit back ALL the attempted debits, like the other vendors did. The Bank of America account that was the 2nd account that I was unsuccessful at purchasing the trip with had debits and credits totaling several thousands of dollars before they balanced out almost back to the $0 that should have been taken....EXCEPT Spirit missed giving back $152.00 for a 2ND flight that I didn't take with them! If I had to suggest an Airline, I'd recommend Greyhound and MegaBus as far superior airlines (Yes, I said it) than Spirit, except they're far cheaper, will actually get you to your destination, will actually provide you with some semblance of customer service, AND the best part is, unlike Spirit, if the maintenance is on par with their crap product and crappier customer service, nobody will plummet from the sky, they'll just be on the side of the road. Seriously people, save your time and your money because if "We don't GiveAFug" was a company, it'd be Spirit Airlines. Wherever you were gonna fly to on Spirit, just buy a good pair of hiking boots or some swim trunks, and save yourself a lot of money while also getting their much sooner. The night staff at gate A18 & A19 are the most horrible people I've ever come across in my entire life. My family of four and I were at the gate with our backpacks (one personal item), the manager tall Africa guy was doing random checks of people backpacks during the boarding process and making people get out of line to measure bags and making people get out of line to empty theirs bags in order to board the flight. They said pay $99 or you will be left behind. A few people in line didn't have it, we had already shown proof our bags were paid for and they still were trying to force us to pay. So, rather than continue to fuss with them, I tried handing the lady my ticket and card, but all the reps at the counter just stared at the computer ignoring all of us, locked the door and allowed the plane to depart without us. Bear in mind, all of our checked bags were on the flight. The flight took off and when we requested to speak with a manager the guys said "I am the manager and if you want to rebook see customer service". He sent us to the counter and they were closed leaving my husband and children stuck in the airport without a return home flight. I really really wish people would read reviews before they booked with Spirit. Spirit has failed every single time. I bought tickets to ComicPalooza, Houston TX to go Friday/Saturday and booked my flight for 6am with spirit to arrive in Houston around noon Friday and then be at the convention all day. They cancel my flight the night before "due to weather" and didn't have anything to Houston and asked me to rebook another day. I got to the airport for another flight to Dallas and I was going to drive 4 hours to Houston. When I was at the airport, I realized that all of the other flights were still going to Houston on time!! The reason why they canceled was because they didn't have a lot of people booked for that flight and they were loosing money by flying!!!! Screw over everyone's day that did book. I ended up booking with United and had to pay extra and arrive at 1:30am- I missed a whole day at ComicPalooza for Friday!! Saturday night, I'm now at the airport waiting for my flight back home to San Diego and they changed my gate 4 times along with everyone else. No one knows where their plane is going to be. All of the flights coming in are delayed and it's such a huge mess, none of the computers are on for anyone's flight info. We are supposed to board in 10 minutes but probably isn't going to happen! Why not tell all the ppl (in the air) who obviously have plans for pick up or layovers and other things. Oh and said ppl have internet on their phone when we land and can see we are not where we are supposed to be. And to top it off ...to have all the fucking fight attendance laughing their asses off and saying " we didn't know either" and chuckling it up at the convince of other while hiding behind the the fact it's their job to be on the plane. Not mine so it's easy to laugh off the misfortune of other and at the same time hide behind their fake uniforms like nothing can happen to them like an Roman guard protected by their bosses so unfathomable of persecution from the ppl. If I say something of my discord, I will be shamed or worse treated like a second class citizen or worse a criminal and be removed. All for saying how the situation resembles an abduction. If I were to pick them up in say an Uber and drive them 100's of miles away from their destination without telling them. I would be arrested for abduction. Yes that's extreme. But it doesn't change the fact that's how it feels. And I don't even want to get started on all the problems this cause for me and the hundred passengers on board with me. Action should be taken, refunds for all the ones put out (the ride picking us up) the humiliation of being laughed at by a mail flight attendant or the other ones who are simply dismissive and plan out ready to argue like the a pre programes to do so when a customer only asks the wrong questions.
