We had come here on a Monday at around 12:30 pm for lunch. It was the Civic Holiday however, it was busy at the restaurant. We were given a table right away, which was perfect for our table of seven. The restaurant wasn't too loud however, it was just the perfect amount of sound. We were served by a kind server, that provided menus to all of us, and gave us the chance to look over them. We took our time to browse the menu, then decided on the pasta with tomato sauce for my daughter, and the hamburger with ceasar salad for my son (which I shared as well). The meals didn't take too long to arrive. We were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything tasted, and the large portion sizes that we were given. The server came over to check on us during our stay, even offering to find out what kind of bread we had been served (as we had inquired). Overall, an excellent family-run establishment, that served delicious food, with great service, and over-the-top atmosphere. Will definitely be dining here when we are in the neighbourhood once again; would highly recommend to anyone that wants a a great meal! read more

Service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. She checked on us constantly but not too much to annoy you. Food was ok. The omelette was bland. I forgot to ask to add cheese. I assumed it came with it. Plenty of parking. Place was big enough to fit a lot of tables. They were busy. read more

Great food, friendly staff service and plenty of space for small or large groups. The breakfast menu is my favourite, but my family enjoyed the dinner menu. Good size portions and plenty of options to substitute sides. Family friendly atmosphere and good amount of parking space. read more

The menu has a Senior portion that I really enjoy. Prices are reasonable as well. This is my favourite lunch spot in London. The wait staff are very friendly and must be treated well, they are often long time employees! read more

fantastic service, My family of 5 went and all had great meals , lovely inside , spacious , finding this little treasure while visiting London was a delight .everything was portion just right. it was nice to go into a restaurant that felt genuine old school . read more

Decent filling food, nothing you'd remember. Service was really slow but there was some chatter that waitstaff was missing. Looks to be a popular place but it would have been nice to put your name on a list so you would know when you were next instead of crowding the hostess station. Bathroom was fine but could have benefited from tidying up. read more

I don't like writing a review like this... Unfortunately, I stood and waited for 5 to 10 minutes at the Wait To Be Seated sign. I was looked at and ignored several times. There were lots of tables that were empty. I was dressed well and patient... this was 7 11 24. When I explained to the manager that I just drove for 2.5 to 3 hours with no one to welcome me, I said, "Well, I guess you're busy." The answer was, " Well, kinda." In all fairness, she apologized, but offered no solution such as, "Let me seat.you and get back you once I'm finished here." I guess that my business was not required. I'm very disappointed! Oh well...I left. May I recommend the Wendy's around the corner? Thank you. read more

Stopped by for breakfast as we have never been here. Both of our breakfasts were wonderful and reasonably priced. Will have to give them a try for lunch sometime, as lunch menu looks very reasonably priced with good choices on it read more

Place was packed but we were seated right away, Food was served with in 20 mins. Everything was great but one negative the vegetarian skillet I order was all hash brown with couple diced onions with eggs on it. There was hardly any other veggie in there. Hubby ordered veggie omelet he loved his food. Everything was good besides that. read more

My friend and I were passing by London on our way home and thought we'd give this place a try based on our location and the previous reviews. This place has the feel of a family-friendly, country diner. There is a large seating area with both tables and booths. Very casual atmosphere. Servers were very friendly and checked on us regularly. The menu is varied with many comfort favourites and they do have a seniors menu as well. Considering it was a Saturday evening they weren't extremely busy and it was quiet enough that you could have a conversation without yelling. Both my friend and I ordered the 'feature' which comes with soup or salad to start and dessert at the end. The salad was A-Ok, it was your typical green salad with fresh vegetables. The entree was where I had the biggest concern as both the vegetable (carrots) and starch (mashed potatoes) didn't taste like anything I'd ever had before, and I don't necessarily mean in a good way. Had there not been such a shocking discrepancy, I wouldn't have cared but I like to be able to identify by taste what I'm eating (I'm funny that way). The main protein (chicken parmigiana) was delicious, tons of melted cheese and baked to perfection. But dessert, oh dessert...that was the highlight! They offer a bowl of jello (something I haven't seen on the menu in years) with IMO the ultimately BEST whipped cream in the world! I grew up with this whipped cream because it was the kind St. Hubert's used when they had restaurants in Ontario. It's sweet and creamy and I could eat it all day. Similar to cool whip but thicker. It made my day, week, month, year! OMG! Price point was reasonable ($14) for the feature and service was exceptional! I'm a new fan of this place! If you're driving on the 401 and want a place to eat skip the big chains nearby and come here. Completely worth it! read more

Very disappointing. Miserable waitress, not a smile , very unwelcoming. Food. was OK . Not a restaurant i would return to.

Food is great. Staff are awesome. Very very clean. Highly recommend this place for breakfast lunch and dinner. Always good

My mom came to visit this weekend and this morning before she left she wanted to go out for breakfast, and had been googling places in London, and this place popped up. I think I had been here before, long time ago, I didn't even remember, so coming back was like my first time all over again! We arrived around quarter after ten and walked in and were immediately seated, the restaurant was full of happy patrons and the sounds of a small town diner when you walk in. Our waitress came by right away, and took our drink orders, which were three black coffees, for my mom, boyfriend and I. We perused the menu, which had everything from breakfast to dinner if that's what you wanted. My eyes locked onto the Greek Skillet, which sounded delicious, and my mom got the Pork Skillet and my boyfriend got the BLT with a side of sausage. As we were enjoying each others company, our waitress came back in about 15 minutes with our dishes, piping hot and eggs the way we like em. She was funny and personable and very pregnant. Super impressed she was still working! Good for her. The Greek Skillet tasted delicious, it came with green peppers, onions, spinach and the potatoes were cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was topped with feta cheese and two eggs the way I like them, sunny side up, and a side of rye; you could either get white, brown or rye, but I chose rye today. The food was tasty, and hot, the service was excellent and the ambience felt like a local small town diner. I love when it feels like that, and local is always better, and it's worth it to go again! read more

Excellent family restaurant. Great service. Prices are reasonable. We ordered a variety of breakfast foods and everyone enjoyed their meals.

I have been here several times for lunch. I kind of like this place. Service is good and usually fast, although they have had a few glitches in the past. The food is good. Large portion sizes. Many meals come with salad or soup, and a side with the entrée. The prices good for the nice sized portions. Lots of variety. Worth checking this place out if you are in the area. read more

I brought my son there for a quick dinner just to get us out of the house for a bit. I tend to avoid the plethora of chains that populate Wellington Rd when I know there's a few local places that break the monotony. I've been a few times for breakfast but this was no first dinner experience. He's a spaghetti and caesar salad type kid so that choice was a no brainer. I opted for the cheeseburger. What I appreciated about the meal was the attention to detail and the value. My homemade burger was $9 and came with homemade soup and fresh cut fries. My son's spaghetti was a little over $10 with a $1.25 surcharge for a caesar salad. The food arrived almost immediately and was hot and fresh. He demolished the pasta and the salad and worked on a few of my fries as well.I found the burger pretty decent as well. I had no issues with the service. They were polite and prompt. I ordered a chicken wrap to go for my daughter (who didn't want to join our boys night out) and they packed it with a bag of salt, pepper, ketchup, utensils etc. Once again, impressive attention to detail. I'm not giving it 5 stars because it's the best place I've ever eaten but in the context of a local, value driven diner with great family values, it's about as good as it gets. read more

Came here for a quick stop over before heading to Windsor. I was surprised how good was the food! The decor was a little bit out dated but the server was super nice and the food - Oh yum! I didn't expect much from this resturant since the decor outside wasn't all that great, but the food was fantastic. I had the gyro wrap it comes with fries and salad. Really big portions! I would Def. Come back here if I ever come visit again! They have the best homemade fries!! read more

Best breakfast in town. The only problem with Southside Grill is that it's only open on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Found this gem of a restaurant during an early morning hockey tournament game. 25 of us went. Food was delicious and everyone was served at the same time. Our server, Lindsay was the most amazing, thoughtful and friendly waitress. She was cheerful and had so much patience with the kids and very accommodating. Without a doubt, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone whose hungry. Ps- if you can, ask for Lindsay to serve you!! read more

Stopped here for breakfast on the way out of town for Christmas with my dad. The prices were great and he really enjoyed his classic eggs, sausage and toast. I opted for the wake up breakfast wrap which I really should have passed on. While there was nothing wrong with it persay it was also not what I expected. The wrap was not toasted at all leaving that sort of rubbery wet taste to everything inside. The ingredients were fine: spinach, onion, egg, bacon, cheese... but the wrap being not even warmed just dampened it. Also the hashbrown potatoes which are likely a huge hit were a miss for me because of how much dill seemed to be seasoning them. That said the table next to us had huge pancakes with chocochips in them that looked great. This is greasy spoon so it is what it is. My food choice was on me, not on them entirely I think if I go again it's pancakes for sure. Where it loses me is the bathroom. Dark stalls in desperate need of repair that were full to the brim with well... yes, no need to elaborate. read more

Mediocre at best. We stopped on our way back to the US. The ambiance is that of a diner. Outdated. The staff seemed friendly enough. I ordered the eggs Benedict- both poached eggs came out rock hard. We even asked for them runny. The hollandaise tasted weirdly sweet. Potatoes were bland. Service was slow and uninspired. Seemed like a typical Sunday brunch. read more

Breakfast for 1? Wow! The Super Duper - great for sharing! This place is a hidden gem. Seated immediately, served beverage immediately. Home style cooking, great atmosphere and excellent service. Very little wait for the meal! If I had to complain the toast crust was dark and the bacon hard, but it was home style on the grill with the real potato home fries and sausage. Near the 401 it's super convenient and while the building and decor could use an update, the food and service and bottomless coffee will keep me coming back! The floor was a bit sticky and mucky, but it is a miserable day with rain. Thanks to other reviewers for guiding us in to our new favourite spot to stop while on the run for medical appointments! read more

Southside Grill - The Super Duper! Pancake, French Toast, 2 eggs your way, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, ham, 2 slices of toast and home fries! Yum! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - London, Ontario

We went for breaky sun Nov 23. Never been before but heard good reviews. Nice establishment, bright and clean with clean washrooms. We had coffee, green tea, the Wellington breakfast and traditional eggs Benny both with rye toast. The food was excellent. Pancakes were a 8/10, four pieces of bacon with the wellington that were cooked perfect, eggs were perfect and both orders of home fries were good. We got what we ordered without errors. The eggs Benny was excellent, possibly the best I've had (and I've had eggs Benny a lot). The only issue was the waitress made us wait quite a while for our beverages as she had forgotten, but we considered that minor as she was very personable. The value for our dollar was average but better than Denny's. The green tea was a bit pricey but we were not upset with the price by any means. All in all the experience was very positive and we left feeling we had an excellent breakfast. We will be letting our friends and family know and we look forward to returning. read more

Have yet to try the lunch/dinner menu, I'm sure it's great. But would highly recommend their breakfast. Not much a fan of eating out for breakfast, but this place is amazing. Came here for breakfast (at 1pm) on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to find out the the food is actually delicious. The waitress was very personable and positive, so you just have this great feeling when you order your food. I got the vege eggs Benedict and my husband got this giant breakfast combo that had a sample of everything including a pancake and French toast. The eggs Benedict was perfect, and the hollandaise sauce was just so beautifully creamy. The breakfast potatoes, while not crispy, was phenomenal and they seasoned them to perfection. My husband said the sausage was incredibly juicy but found the french toast to be too sweet and cake like (which could be seen as a positive for those who look for dessert breakfast) Overall, will become a regular! read more

I've only been here for breakfast, but have been twice. Food is pretty standard for a breakfast place, nothing special to report in that department. I find it to be on the pricier side for what it is, but that is personal opinion. It was extremely busy both times I've been there (once on a Saturday, and once on a Sunday), but we were seated right away. The first time I was there I waited 35 minutes for my food, which was disappointing. Overall, I would describe Southside as "average," and not worth a special trip, but pop in if you're close by and looking for somewhere for breakfast. read more

Went for breakfast on out way to Windsor really good food and polite service would go back again when we come back that way.

We dropped in for a quick bite and were quite impressed! Service was prompt and very friendly; our drinks were brought quickly and our server was attentive and helpful. Very pleasantly surprised considering the shady location it is in. Next door is some prostitute building....advertised openly as such. In any event, I was staying nearby and it was within walking distance. Had the lasagna for dinner. The salad came first and it was delicious. The lasagna was very filling and honestly delicious.
