Tried a local favourite sushi spot…read more 168 Sushi is an all-you-can-eat restaurant that's served South London for many years. They serve everything from sushi and sashimi to Thai food to dim sum to many other Japanese items. This location is spacious within a multi-storey building. Inside the interior is modern and sleek, while their entrance and parking lot are in the back. It's a chain with another location in London plus several in Toronto and Ottawa areas as well. It's a standout AYCE from the perspective of variety, speed and service. Ordered dishes arrived relatively quickly and servers were friendly. I particularly enjoy the flavours of the sushi rolls that are decked out with sauces and filled with avocado, torched fish, fish roe. Sashimi including salmon, octopus, white fish were all quite fresh but they didn't serve some premium ingredients like sweet shrimp and scallop that we found at the GTA location. The grilled dishes were all well-seasoned and served hot including the bacon-wrapped asparagus and chicken/beef skewers. On the positive, what I find unique about 168 Sushi is their buffet salad bar, plus it was also where hot soup, wasabi and ginger were self-served. On the flip side, their ordering tablet constantly locked screen requiring assistance and ordering was limited to 90 minutes. They were very accommodating with separate bills upon request when we visited. There is also an extra dining room that's opened for parties and guest overflow though that area has no decor. Skip it or hit it? If you're celebrating a special occasion or just hungry for sushi, this spot is worth a splurge.

In the picture I took, the excellent, homemade-tasting, oniony curry sauce is off to the side so you can add it to the katsu (and rice) just before you dig in. This means your cutlet stays crispy the whole time. Wonderful presentation in a lovely to-go bento box. Meal included a cup of miso soup as well. The other picture was my partner's pick. Unagi poke bowl with added salmon (for an extra $4). Great portions and really well flavoured. She commented especially favourably on the tempura crispy bits throughout the bowl, which provided great texture. Go here. Order. You won't be sorry. They have a nice 20% discount for first-timers on the website. Also a nice 15% discount for pick-up.

This is truly on another level than any other Japanese restaurant in town. Delivery was really fast! We ordered from the app and got free delivery and 15% off from ordering $35+. Also got takoyaki, chicken karage, and pork teriyaki katsu and we enjoyed it all. Highly highly recommend!

I ordered the Ma Po Tofu without the customary pork meat included in it, some plain rice, and veggie spring rolls. Ma Po Tofu without meat is probably my favourite Chinese dish, or in the top three, and this place prepared it really well. It was like I had ordered it in back in China. There isn't much I can say about the veggie spring rolls or the plain rice I ordered. They were standard items that anyplace could offer. The Ma Po Tofu had the really soft type of tofu that almost melts in your mouth. It was great - very different from the kind of tofu we get in the grocery store. Ma Po Tofu is a spicy dish - so have some cold liquids close.
