Huh? OK! Well, three months had gone by and Teddy was looking kind of ratty. My poor furson was definitely way past due for a spa day ... but, frankly I was stalling ... and had to make a decision. Should I go back to that large, well known grooming, boarding and doggie day care business where 'everybody knows my name' or try a new salon with no website, no Yelp listing, no reviews and no Facebook content? While I had no problem with MTD as a 'service provider' I realized that my loyalty was to Teddy's groomer so I called to schedule a Saturday appointment with Alicia. Though I had the address and knew it was north of the IOP Connector, I couldn't quite place the location so rather than rely on my Map app, I inquired ... and learned it was right next store to Ladles (across from Bricco Bracco) ... in the Harris Teeter Shopping Center. When we pulled up, I couldn't help but notice the absence of overhead signage ... only, the name, the words 'pet styling salon' and phone number stenciled on the front glass window. "Oy" I said to Teddy ... "I'm not sure about this" but, we proceeded to go inside the small, sparse storefront. We were immediately acknowledged and warmly greeted by a friendly receptionist. And, due to the size and space configuration I was easily able to see the 'action' while we were waiting for Alicia. Wow! It looked like Santa's Workshop. I recall at least two, or maybe, three groomers and a bather in action and 5 more dogs in separate runs either waiting to start or for their owner to pick up. This 'no co-mingling' set-up was perfect for my Teddy who tends to be aggressive around other dogs he does not know. Alicia came up to the reception area and we reviewed what I wanted for Teddy's spring cut. Alicia explained that she would be shampooing Teddy rather the bather which would make the turn around a bit longer for her to get in queue. This also was fine with me. An hour and a half later, I was back at the salon and before Teddy noticed me, I was pleased to see my little guy ... not only looking spivvy ... but content as he could be in his 'big boy' run. Now, for the proverbial icing on the cake ... the price. Would you believe the same services were a whopping $20 less than what I paid 'down the street' in November? The moral of this story ... 'don't judge a book by it's cover.' I love this no frills dog grooming salon with the funky name ... and if you live in Mount Pleasant ... you will, too.

I tried another day care and was very disappointed with the staff who basically didn't engage with the dogs and were always on their cell phones. I ran into a dog trainer at a dog park who told me about Paws in Paradise. The operation is well-run by the hands on owner and by a very loving and professiomal staff. They are trained, genuinely love dog care, are never too busy for clients and are never on their phones. The place is immaculately maintined, including pools, shading, AC, Air cleaners etc. Tilly and I are lucky we found them. it adds such an active dimension to Tilly's life!

She was very loving towards our dogs, giving them little treats and making a point to introduce herself to them to help make them both feel more comfortable with her and her assistant. I have always cut their hair myself but saw one of the grooming vans in the neighborhood and thought I'd give it a try. The groomer was very nice. She asked me what I wanted to have done. I told her the style of the cut and length for them both. She also cut their nails which I wasn't expecting but glad it was going to be done for the first time. Then she asked about the bath, and I did not want to torture my cats with a bath on top of this already stressful situation. She said there is probably a discount if you don't get the bath done, but I was never told the price to begin with. At the end she was adding up the services and could not find an option for a "tidy trim" with no bath, so she provided me the bill of $400. I was not happy and the groomer said I could try to reach out to the business and get it resolved. I did and two months later they have given me just a 10% discount and said they would not offer discounts for not bathing the cats in the future. If you bathe a cat, I could see that being very hard and maybe costing $200/cat, but I didn't want that and they don't offer options. If they would have told me from the start what their prices were then I wouldn't have signed up from the beginning. So I paid the bill and I still have to cut one of my cat's hair because she has knots still forming on her undercoat. I will never do this again. Beware of sneaky pricing!

Considering a vet will typically put your pet under for this procedure and could charge between $500-$1000, this treatment alone is worth 5 stars. On top of this I found the staff super accommodating and flexible. They fit in my two dogs on short notice and gave them both baths with the teeth clean and a special de-shedder treatment which I also found to be super effective. The fact these folks also focus on natural and organic treatments is a bonus. I'll be back here regularly and suggest anyone with pets check out the services they provide.

Everyone is so friendly, welcoming, and clearly love what they do. Buck is about 80lbs, so we always book the Prelium suite, and it's perfect for him.
