It has been a year since starting to go here. A friend of mine wanted to know if halal vs…read morenon-halal meats tasted different. So being the non-Muslem, I decided to help him decide. It is located in an old strip mall behind another building. This lead to no front door parking. So I found a spot and walked over. It is a small store with groceries to the right and a meat/butcher counter to the left. The store only had a couple of customers in it at that time. I strolled around the limited groceries and they had the basics. Then I wandered back toward the meat counter. Dividing the two sections I found precut meats. This is when I decided to do my test on chicken breasts. Couldn't find the full breasts so I went with smaller cut pieces. Just an FYI, you can request any cuts of meats at the counter. But I didn't want to wait so I grabbed and headed to pay and go. The results, BTW, halal meat was more tender and tasted the same and prices the same

He then recommended this place, mentioning it's a bit pricey, but worth it. After trying it himself, he said he doesn't go to any other Mexican meat markets or local stores for meat anymore. Once I finished at the barbershop, I looked it up on Google Maps and realized it wasn't far from Generations Barbershop in Round Rock, TX. When I walked in, it felt like a small grocery store, but they didn't have fresh produce, just dry goods, ice cream, and their meat selection. Only a few options were available today, but hopefully next time I'll get to see the full range of meats they offer. The staff was really friendly. Even though I'm Hispanic, I don't speak fluent Spanish, but I didn't feel out of place or like I was being judged for it. What can I say, I'm a "coconut" not by choice, but my parents only spoke Spanish to us when they were mad. Overall, the customer service was great. I bought about 6-7 pounds of meat for my family. Honestly, I felt like I didn't buy enough, but when I saw the total $74. I figured maybe it was a good thing I didn't go overboard. I got around 2.5 pounds of ribs, 2.5 pounds of beef fajitas, and 3 pounds of chicken fajitas, all pre-seasoned. Normally, I avoid pre-seasoned meat because some places use it to move older products, but after grilling it, I was impressed. The meat tasted fantastic so tender and flavorful, much better than what you'd typically get elsewhere. The prices range from $11.99 to $14.99 per pound, but honestly, it's worth every penny!

The carnitas were tender and perfectly seasoned, the fajitas were juicy, and the menudo was exactly what you want, rich, comforting, and authentic. The guacamole and salsa are freshly made. Best part? All of that was under $50. The staff is always friendly and they recognize their regulars, which makes it feel like a true neighborhood spot. Marble Falls Location: We have brought in two hogs for…read moreprocessing so far. One was my father-in-law's and they did an awesome job, the sausage tasted great! The other was a hog my younger sister shot. We got a call from them saying there was an issue with the hog- I was bummed but curious since I didn't remember seeing anything really wrong when I skinned and quartered it. They explained how the backstraps were 1/4th the size they should have been and other large muscles had clearly atrophied- there were also some small odd growths in the body cavity. Two things here: 1. They could have easily just shrugged it off and processed it since we were getting mostly sausage but instead they called and explained everything. The guy on the phone said he had actually looked up what could have caused this. I was really impressed because it shows a level of professionalism that is hard to come by these days. 2. It also tells me that they are clearly knowledgeable about the anatomy and what they are doing because I missed it. Thinking back I remember there was a strange tumor like growth on it's underside but since it's a wild hog I didn't think to much about it and just kept cutting away. I didn't pay attention to the inside cavity once I pulled out the guts either. I look back at one of the photos I took and think dang, yea there is almost no shoulder muscle but again I wasn't putting any of this together at the time. Thankfully they did notice these things and let us know that something was wrong. It's too bad we won't have this hog but I cant wait to bring them the next one because I know it will be in good hands! Thank you guys so much!
