Place is pretty hidden around the hotels, but I found it! The greeter was extremely nice! I dined in around the beginning of happy hour and it wasn't too packed. The waitress was extremely helpful for drink suggestions and dishes to try which is a plus for me! Knowledge of your best cuisines is definitely a plus! The response time to get a waiter was a bite longer than I expected but that was ok since it was happy hour. So I ordered the hurricane drink, fried green tomatoes, half bird with sweet potatoes and collards. I'll just right into my experience, the drink was 12/10 for sure! Not much to say on it except perfect. The fried green tomatoes were good just needed to be hot! The grits arrived like warm at best, but still a decent bite. The half bird (4 piece fried chicken) was extremely hot and juicy!!! I can't complain about that, the sides however could've used a little more attention. The sweet potatoes lacked so much potential due to them being puréed the only sweet portion came from the marshmallows and pecans which I wasn't a fan of. The collards were decent, needed a pinch or 2 of salt. Overall I would come again though to try different items. Just apply a little more love in the kitchen in regard to the seasoning and the dishes would be fire!!!!! Happy Yelping

First time here with fellow yelper Rhonda. I arrived at 2:50 and said I wanted to order before 3:00 lunch special ended. Nicholas proceeds to say it ended at 2 pm. I replied your website says 3:00. They have a 2 for $12 special with assorted salads, a couple half sandwiches, soup and 1/2 flatbreads. I ordered 1/2 peach, pesto, mozzarella and mordatella (ham) and 1/2 turkey bacon sandwich on Texas toast. I ate the sandwich which was hot and 2 small pieces of flatbread. I asked for a box and Nicholas proceeds to bring me a tiny burger box. I needed to correct him as my flatbread was bigger than the box. He did bring a larger box. Got a refill of water too. I'm almost positive this building was a Bakers Square in its past life. The patio had nice flowers on it. Will probably return.

I was looking for a fun place to take my parents and I had heard good things about this place. The menu takes classic southern stables and gives them a modern twist. Unfortunately, we just ordered all wrong and I wish we knew what to do going in. There are flashes of greatness here and it's a bummer to have to give this only 3 stars but the positives don't overshadow the subpar here. First of all, the bar drink servings sizes are laughably awful here. $15 for 3 ounces. You get 3-4 sips and your done. Our drinks came out in wine glasses so the portion sizes looked even more damning. Cocktails are about the substance, presentation and experience. 2 out of the 3 of those things fell flat for us. At how much mark up goes into a cocktail, you think the bartender would have been bothered to at least wash a glass to justify the exorbitant charge. Felt like highway robbery. Bummer. Second, the portion sizes for food is all over the place. My parent's chicken dinner meals had hearty portions and plenty of food for under $20. My wife's crab dish was an appetizer and over $20. Yes, I get it's a crab dish and it will be more expensive than other dishes but that dish should have been an appetizer, not a main meal. Finally, some quality control would go a long way in the kitchen. My catfish looked great and then the first bite betrayed all expectations. The fish was pretty bad. Barely any meat on three pieces (you get more meat from a freezer aisle fish stick for crying out loud, its not like catfish is crazy expensive either) and the fish was cooked bone dry. To add insult to injury, we waited almost 45 minutes for food to come out on a fairly slow Saturday night (the restaurant was maybe 1/2 full at best). People around us were getting burgers, sandwiches and chicken dinners so we should have taken note. The sandwiches and burgers were big and looked great. Three stars is being generous but like I said before, there are flashes of greatness to be found. I'd come back to give them another shot for a sandwich or burger but maybe not for a meal or cocktail hour.

Good southern food in Eagan area! We've been here a few times and food and service has always been great. The vibes inside are pretty good as well. I would definitely return to try the other items :)

Visited 12/11/25. I really love Southern Social as a happy hour spot. It has solid happy hour options and their shareables are perfect. Super spacious, which is nice and doesn't force you to have a reservation depending on when you go. Highlights: -Happy Hour food menu-huge range of selections, fair prices, and we loved each item we got (biscuits, nachos, fried pickles). The fried pickles are definitely a lighter batter and coating and a smaller pickle, so fried pickle regulars may have opinions about this, but I liked that they didn't feel as greasy. -Nachos-we devoured the bbq nachos and one of my friends got them the following week when we visited -Clever holiday drink names/concepts-super fun ideas and we loved the "interactive" aspect of pouring our ornaments into the glass. Other thoughts: -I have yet to find a cocktail that I truly love here. I've cycled through at least like 7 drinks or so including holiday and other specials across different visits and they tend to have stronger more in your face flavors. I'm determined to find one though because I love their HH! -On this occasion we were a bit rushed out towards the end and felt it. I thought it was just because they were busier which is totally understandable, but on a visit the following week when they weren't busy due to bad weather, our table felt this again. We had been thinking of getting more drinks but our checks were out to us before we could consider it. Not the hugest deal, but something to note if you're planning on staying for a bit. Overall, I'll definitely still come back, especially due to the really good happy hour selections and the great food options. The southern component makes it stand out from similar restaurants and I would re-order pretty much every food I've had here!

Had a great time at Southern Social. It has a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. We went for lunch and they had a great lunch deal! I had the pork sandwich which was huge and the Bolo Peach flatbread which was flavorful. My partner had Mac and cheese, grits, and fried chicken which were all very savory. Beignets for dessert are a must - they were fantastic! I definitely will be coming back!

This was my first time dining at any of the Southern Social restaurants. I was there for a birthday dinner with a group of 9 that were able to accommodate for. I will say that overall service was slow for a Wednesday night. Our server was nice and gave great recommendations but we often had to ask to order as he was walking by. Let's talk about the Debutante punch that is for a group of 4 or more depending on which size you get.... IT WAS SO GOOD! I kept asking if they even put alcohol in it because I couldn't taste it all- a gift and a curse lol. But overall, our table really enjoyed it. It's vodka, elderflower, lavender and lemon! We also had the cornbread which was the number 1 recommendation. At first it tasted burnt which later I think was the smoked cheddar. Once the honey better was melted I did taste a difference but it wasn't my favorite. I also had the dry rub wings, Mac and cheese and biscuits. I loved the wings as they were crisp and full of flavor. The Mac and cheese was also very good! It was served HOT and creamy. It has pimento cheese which can be an acquired taste for some but I loved it. And the biscuits... I liked them better than the cornbread. Served with jam and they just melted in my mouth. I would definitely return and bring my family!

We went here on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30, and seated right away. Our waitress was pretty attentive, but slow at times which is to be expected on a Saturday afternoon! All of our food came as ordered and was delicious. We mentioned it was my birthday and asked for a candle to put in the desert, and our waitress happily gave us a candle! She even gave us a free birthday dessert without hesitation. We were seated in the bar area, so it was a little bit louder, but I have also been in the main restaurant area and the volume level is also pretty high.

We came here kind of late so the kitchen was getting ready to close but we ordered quite a few things. We got the pork belly.. it was pretty good, had a nice crunch, flavor, and it was tender, no complaints there. We also ordered the wedge salad.. it was not really a wedge salad, and it was absolutely drenched in dressing to the point where it was hardly edible. We also got the shrimp and grits.. it was very ok. Not a ton of flavor, there were like 3 pieces of shrimp in there and it was just not it at all. The service was also very sub par. We understood that the kitchen was closing soon but she didn't tell us that so as we were finishing our food I asked if we could see the dessert menu and she told us (pretty rudely) that the kitchen was closed and even had the manager come over to tell us that. Ok, it would have been nice to have a warning. It was cute in there.. a decent bar space. Just could be better.. especially when it comes to food and customer service.

Shrimp and Grits

Southern Social - A Flavorful Escape Worth Every Bite! If you're looking for a culinary hug from the South, Southern Social delivers it with a side of flair and a whole lot of yum. First up, the savory stars: Fried Green Tomatoes over Grits ( These weren't your average fried green tomatoes -- they were crispy, tender, and perched on the fluffiest bed of cheesy grits. Topped with tangy pickled veggies including jalapeños and a drizzle of spicy sauce, it was like a Southern block party on my plate. Shrimp and Grits Sweet corn, hearty grits, smoky bacon bits, plump shrimp, melty cheese, and scallions all tangled together in a bowl of pure comfort. Every bite was a confetti blast of sweet, savory, and slightly spicy. I'd eat this again faster than you can say "Bless your heart." And now... the dessert that could launch a thousand ships: Bourbon Bread Pudding A tower of golden slices of bread pudding , crowned with a mountain of creamy vanilla ice cream, then drenched in caramel sauce. Let's just say my diet politely excused itself from the table. And honestly? Zero regrets. The patio vibes were perfect for a sunny afternoon, service was friendly and upbeat, and my tastebuds are still sending me thank-you notes. Pro Tip: Come hungry, wear stretchy pants, and save room for dessert. Southern Social, you've officially earned a spot on my "Repeat Visits" list. Until next time -- keep those grits creamy and that caramel flowing!

Good service here, we were seated right away for brunch and didn't have to wait too long in between check ins with our waitress. I ordered the not my gumdrops button, definitely a more unique cocktail but delicious nonetheless. The shrimp and grits weren't as cheesy as I prefer but it was tasty. I also liked the fried pickles and the ample amount of parking space.

Super cute restaurant with plenty of seating and big windows that let in lots of natural light, giving it a warm, welcoming feel. The ambiance is cozy yet lively -- perfect for a casual night out or a relaxed dinner with friends. The bar area is especially lovely, with a great drink selection and friendly bartenders. The menu has so many delicious southern comfort food options, all flavorful and satisfying. Service was excellent -- the staff were kind, attentive, and made sure everything came out quickly. Parking was easy and close by, which made the visit even more convenient. Overall, a fantastic spot for anyone craving a cozy, comforting meal in a beautiful setting!

The appetizers are plenty and all of them sound delicious. We started with the buttermilk biscuits with the bourbon honey butter and blackberry preserves. It comes as six biscuits with a generous helping of butter and preserves and drizzled with honey. Nice crisp outside with a soft center. For dinner I got the catfish and chips, because what is more southern than fried catfish. My Mamaw would have been proud. Three strips of catfish over a bed of fries and side of hush puppies. The catfish was delicious! I wasn't a fan of the hush puppies. There was a drizzle on them that was super spicy to me so I didn't eat more than a half of one. My husband got the Mississippi Dip. It was also delicious and a generous portion. He was a particularly fan of the dip. The coleslaw was good and had an added spice we were not able to place but it had a very good flavor profile. Of course we got dessert. If was hard to decide between the Peach Bread pudding and the Beignets. The Bread pudding won out. A large slice with a big dollop of vanilla ice cream and a caramel sauce. My only "complaint" is that there was not enough sauce/caramel. I would have loved to have more of that to cover the slice but that being said it was wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone. Service was quick even though they had a few large parties because of homecoming. I am looking forward to coming back and trying a few more things on the menu.

In addition, the indoors smelled like cigar smoke because THEY WERE HOLDING A CIGAR EVENT ON THEIR PATIO! Ummm... isn't there a law about not smoking so close to diners and doors to the restaurant (yes, there is)?! It was a horrible experience from start to finish. Will never choose it again for anything important. Slow Service. Bad food that took too long. Bad ambiance of cigar smoke (my wife is immunocompromised with a lung issue). I spent 20+ years managing restaurants. This was epically horrible.

Their menu has some Asian twists which I was excited for. They also have wood fire pizzas if you like that. I don't go to restaurants for an overpriced pizza. I go for main course entrees that I'm hoping to get a wow from. We tried the chicken wings as a starter (only thing is that it came out with the entrees). The wings had a burnt flavor with a slight Asian twang. The hot mustard dipping sauce cleared my sinuses and tasted sorta like horseradish. It didn't pair well with the wings to me. For the main courses we tried the orecchiette and the grilled whole fish. The orecchiette was boring and needed more of a sauce. The grilled fish was also boring and was just a fish without any sauce. Is this a thing? I feel like fish needs a little more something. And for $55, I'm wanting a really good fish. The main courses don't come with sides, so you order separate sides that are larger portion "to share". The smoked potato purée was weird and I don't think smokey potatoes should be a thing. Overall, we didn't like any food item we tried or the vibes.
