Most recently, I completed a two-hour trip to Leesburg, Florida, and noticed that the HVAC airflow…read moreperformance has significantly changed. Prior to the windshield replacement, the air conditioning system functioned properly and produced strong airflow even on low settings. Since the replacement, the airflow has been noticeably reduced, requiring higher settings while still providing inadequate cooling and ventilation.
Additionally, I am experiencing recurring driver monitoring and calibration issues. While sitting upright, maintaining proper driving posture, and paying attention to the road, the vehicle repeatedly generates warnings indicating that I am not paying attention. These warnings did not occur prior to the windshield replacement.
After discussing these concerns with Tesla, I was informed that proper windshield specifications and calibration are critical because Tesla vehicles integrate cameras, sensors, and associated systems directly with the windshield assembly. Tesla further advised that non-OEM glass or improperly calibrated installations can cause issues involving driver monitoring systems, cameras, sensors, and other vehicle functions.
I previously provided photographs showing the windshield markings before and after replacement. Based on the markings currently present on the installed windshield, I have concerns regarding whether the glass installed is in fact a genuine Tesla OEM windshield. I understand that I was previously advised that an OEM windshield was installed; however, the information I have received and the markings on the glass have raised legitimate questions that require clarification.
It is important to note that before this windshield replacement, I had owned the vehicle for less than one month and experienced none of these issues. The problems began only after the replacement was performed.
Furthermore, during my visit, I was advised by management that they have limited Tesla-specific knowledge beyond the windshield replacement process itself. This is concerning given the specialized calibration requirements associated with Tesla vehicles. GEICO had already approved OEM replacement components, and if additional time was needed to obtain the proper Tesla windshield, I would have preferred waiting rather than making multiple return visits to address ongoing problems.
At this point, this will be my second visit related to the same repair concerns. If these issues cannot be resolved, I may be forced to seek diagnosis and repairs directly through Tesla Service. Should Tesla determine that the installed windshield is not OEM, was improperly installed, or was improperly calibrated, I will seek reimbursement for any diagnostic or repair expenses incurred as a result.
None of my phone calls are being returned nor emails. I was supposed to receive a phone call last Friday regarding the confirmation of the OEM windshield. At this point, I have no choice but to take it to Tesla and get it fixed. I will return with an invoice and also inform GEICO about their inadequate customer service and failure to cover their warranty.
