Once again, we enjoyed a Walker Percy happy hour at the Southern Hotel Cyprus bar in Covington. Half priced Old Fashioneds! Great service and surroundings. Highly recommended!

The Southern Hotel went above and beyond for our stay! The hotel is beautiful and you feel at home immediately. My husband had a surprise amenity waiting for me upon arrival and there was a lovely note attached from the hotel. The Southern Hotel checked in to make sure all of our needs were being met while staying. We ordered room service and it was delicious! I love that they use TrayAway buttons for retrieving the room service tray to ensure their beautiful hallways are kept nice and clean! I highly recommend The Southern Hotel for a relaxing stay. They will exceed your expectations!

    Another stay and gorgeous room..

One of my favorite places to stay! Great place to stop, relax, eat, drink and hunker in. The ever-so-beyond quaint Southern Hotel is filled with charm, class, style and beauty. From ease of parking to welcoming team, to memorable on-site libations, to setting n decor to a beautiful, and... an ooohh so comfy room or suite. All of this combined, makes for a memorable experience and definite stop!

Linda (the owner) gave us a fair&unbeatable price for the Larger poolside suite despite it being Mardi Gras, Valentine's day, as well as it being the weekend when we arrived. Linda was a DOLL! She took care of us, fluffed our room when we were out & reloaded our fridge with breakfast daily. She showed us around the place and welcomed us like family. I truly felt like I was at mom's house. True southern hospitality. We had a few good talks about the history of her house and her life as she once lived in New Orleans. My fiancé enjoyed talking with Linda as New Orleans is where he was born and raised. Despite our talks, Linda does not hover! Which was so appreciated, when you're on a "romantic"vacation. We had our own privacy during our stay as each suite is separate and inaccessible from where Linda stays in her home. We came and went as we please and used the hot tub at night as late as we wanted. We had our own private entrance, which was incredibly nice. The privacy was appreciated as I didn't know what to expect when we first arrived, but I was prepared to be open minded. I think I will always choose a Bed and Breakfast over a lousy hotel in the future. The rooms were grand and clean. The bathroom was nice and the shower as well. Everything was clean. Its just an old house, but I loved the cottage vibes. It was home-y. The town is walkable and cute! A Mardi Gras parade came right through down the street, during our last day there, which was nice. The poolside porch and hot tub made me feel like I was at a resort. The beauty of the home is breathtaking! Romantic cottage vibes! Perfect for couples or even a small girls trip. I will definitely be back to Linda's next year when we visit again for Mardi Gras. Linda has made me never want to stay at a hotel again.

Bethany at the front desk accommodated our adjoining rooms and numerous requests. We were traveling with two babies under 2 years old so the extra amenities, blankets were much appreciated. I checked in online and used the digital key, so I never interacted with the front desk, and I checked out through the app without reviewing my bill. A few days later, I noticed a bar charge that wasn't mine. As a cancer survivor, I don't drink alcohol. I emailed the hotel manager right away to request a credit but received no response. When I contacted the Hilton helpline, they said the manager had confirmed the charge as valid. I pushed back, and about a week later the charge was finally reversed. It was only $17.30, but it was about the principle. Staff should verify names when posting charges to a room. Be sure to review your bill at checkout.

Precious Peter was so gracious as to help me with my luggage and help get to my room. I didn't have to ask much less beg like at other places. The general manager made me feel like family! If I could give 100 stars I would! Empathy, excellence, kindness AND impeccable rooms!

The booking experience was easy, and they will automatically ask if you want to join their rewards program to get a better price. I was given the approximate cost of my stay and booked it up. You can check in online and give an approximate arrival time. I chose 6pm, but at 11am that day, i was notified my room was ready. I still didn't arrive until six, but that was nice to know had my arrival time changed. They need to replace the sign along the highway pointing you to the hotel as the one they have is faded, and the street sign is not too visible, but it's easy enough. There is a spacious parking lot with plenty of parking near the door. Check in was easy, i just showed my ID and was given my card. The front desk employee was really friendly and welcoming. My king room was large and roomy. It was your typical room - bed, tv, fridge, chair, desk, closet (no safe), Krueig set up, the basics. There is no in-room microwave, rather, there is one per floor by the elevators and vending area. I had to turn the fridge on, so be sure to check that if you anything that needs to be kept cold. The bathroom is super tight for space. I mean, uncomfortably so. I was travelling solo, so i only had my things, but to get to the shower, you had to walk all the way in to close the door to walk around the toilet to get in the shower. I think that was a poor design. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. There was no road noise because you're about a block or so from the highway. While not the hotel's real fault, I was somehow placed among three rooms of young ladies attending a wedding who came back around midnight and were extremely loud with opening and closing the loud doors and yelling in the hallway. Not easy on the ears knowing I had a 4am wake up call for my race, but I didn't call to complain, and probably would have gone into the hallway to let them know had it gone on more than 15 minutes. I had to check out around 5:30am, and the restaurant looked like it was open, so that's nice. There was a note that the front desk person would return soon, but they have a key box, so i just dropped mine in there and headed out. The website says the pool is closed for maintenance with no expected reopen time, but I didn't try to go see if that was still accurate. Also, the price ended up being about $3 more than what my estimated price was, but no big deal, just be aware if you are expensing it for a trip. There are several restaurants and stores nearby, and downtown Covington is just a short drive away. Go a little further South, and you can explore the beautiful Mandeville lakefront area. The Northshore area truly is beautiful.
