    Broken

The rooms were very nice and clean. The location is great. The breakfast took too long to come out (40 min) so we had to leave and the hotel gave us a refund. The gym was small and they were missing a lot of the dumbbells from the set. The cable machine handle was broken with no more attachments to put on and was very worn out. Two out of the two treadmills were broken. So no treadmill to use.

"Sleep like a baby every night!" This hotel is my home away from home. I stay here at least 2 times a week. My office is 2 hours from my home, so I stay here some nights. The hotel is located in the middle of shops, resturants and buildings in Covington. You can walk to many resurants and Walmart and Rouses Supermarket, but I never really leave once I get back from work. The rooms are nice and up to date. The pictures of the room I have in the review was after I been in the room for 2 nights, so it has been lived in. I leave valubales out daily and I have never seen anything go missing. I also conducted the dollar test. I put a dollar in the trash can and see if it disappears and the maid had it on the desk when I got back from work. I always have a abundance of fresh towels and a clean bathroom when I arrive back from work. The beds are very comfortable and I sleep well. Sheets are soft and comfy. They are definitely a high thread count and the comforter is either a down comforter or good imitation. The wifi works throughout the hotel you have to re-sign in sometimes but that is expected with hotel wifi. The hotel has a buisness feel. The employees treat you amazing and patrons are always nice. The resturant is the best you can expect for hotel food. Drinks are not over prices. Happy hour last until 6:30. I would suggest the pub chips for a snack. They only have a breakfast buffet if they are at 60% occupancy. Breakfast is really good and the servers are very nice. The breakfast trio is a good buy and filling. I ussally get that eat one and bring it to my offce for my secretary. I also ussally get my breakfast to go and it is always ready for me. Pool is small but brand new and almost elegant. They do have a gas firepit outside and will light it if you ask. I think this is the best hotel to stay in if you are in Covington, La.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel…read more Upon arrival, the front desk attendant was repeatedly hacking and coughing and appeared visibly ill. It was not the first impression I expected when checking into a hotel. Unfortunately, the room itself was also disappointing. The carpet was dirty, there was an old cough drop and a granola bar underneath the bed, and the air vent blew dust into the room when it turned on. These issues made me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned before our stay. To make matters worse, there was a wedding taking place at the hotel, and the reception appeared to be directly outside our room. The music was extremely loud and continued until around 9:30 p.m. Traveling with a small child, this made bedtime difficult and significantly impacted our experience. The restaurant experience was equally frustrating. I ordered chicken tenders for my child, but they arrived covered in a spicy buffalo-style sauce, making them inedible for a young child. I charged the meal to my room and only discovered several days later, after requesting an itemized receipt, that a 22% tip charge had been added. I was never informed of this 22% tip charge when ordering. When I called to ask about it, the manager explained that the 22% charge was for room service tip. However, the food was never delivered to my room. I was required to walk to the restaurant and pick it up myself. While I didn't mind retrieving the food, I do mind being charged a substantial tip for a service that wasn't provided. To make matters worse, my hands were full carrying three drinks and a bag of food back to the room, and one of the overfilled drinks spilled along the way. I also spoke directly with the hotel manager regarding the 22% tip charge. I explained that I was never informed ahead of time that this charge would be added and that the food was not actually delivered to my room. Instead, I had to walk to the restaurant and pick it up myself. The manager did not seem concerned that I was being charged what was described as a room service fee without receiving traditional room service. What bothered me most was not just the charge itself, but the lack of transparency and the apparent unwillingness to acknowledge why a guest might find that frustrating. If they had actually delivered the food themself I would have tipped more. The combination of the dirty room, excessive noise, unexpected charges, and poor dining experience made for a very disappointing stay. I would not stay here again and would not recommend either the hotel or the restaurant.

Linda (the owner) gave us a fair&unbeatable price for the Larger poolside suite despite it being Mardi Gras, Valentine's day, as well as it being the weekend when we arrived. Linda was a DOLL! She took care of us, fluffed our room when we were out & reloaded our fridge with breakfast daily. She showed us around the place and welcomed us like family. I truly felt like I was at mom's house. True southern hospitality. We had a few good talks about the history of her house and her life as she once lived in New Orleans. My fiancé enjoyed talking with Linda as New Orleans is where he was born and raised. Despite our talks, Linda does not hover! Which was so appreciated, when you're on a "romantic"vacation. We had our own privacy during our stay as each suite is separate and inaccessible from where Linda stays in her home. We came and went as we please and used the hot tub at night as late as we wanted. We had our own private entrance, which was incredibly nice. The privacy was appreciated as I didn't know what to expect when we first arrived, but I was prepared to be open minded. I think I will always choose a Bed and Breakfast over a lousy hotel in the future. The rooms were grand and clean. The bathroom was nice and the shower as well. Everything was clean. Its just an old house, but I loved the cottage vibes. It was home-y. The town is walkable and cute! A Mardi Gras parade came right through down the street, during our last day there, which was nice. The poolside porch and hot tub made me feel like I was at a resort. The beauty of the home is breathtaking! Romantic cottage vibes! Perfect for couples or even a small girls trip. I will definitely be back to Linda's next year when we visit again for Mardi Gras. Linda has made me never want to stay at a hotel again.

To business owners!! Or Group events !!! Beware of this…read morehotel management if you are hosting any kind of event and want your staff or your workers to stay here, especially if you need a room block. I had called ahead months prior because our room block was assigned here and was made aware that their conference room was under construction. So I let the sales person know we had to do makeup and tanning for a show. He said it be fine to do out of our hotel room being that all competitors were staying in here as well. So I booked 2 rooms. The day of services to be done came, and everything was fine until a woman that worked for the hotel called the sheriff on our employee. 2 times! Then she was asked to leave as well very rudely! Our group was reprimanded and threatened as well when someone at the sales office had assured us it was ok! So my employee left , no damages were done and no longer than an hour later they tried charging our employee credit card $500 & my credit card $500 twice ! So I called the front desk and the woman said very rudely that her manager told us to charge our credit cards!! She also added very condescending that I couldn't do anything about it because they were independently owned and that it didn't matter who I had talked to ahead of the event . She said that the hotel person's information that was relayed to me was not valid! I almost felt like they have done this before because they are "independent owned" . They know people will not be able to do anything about it. Thankfully our banks flagged the charge attempts as fraud which is also considered theft and no extra charges were added. I want to let other businesses that will try to get a room block that these people are super unprofessional , rude, and will try to put extra charges on your credit cards! They could have given us a warning, or they could have listened to us explain we had spoken to us prior to arriving, but they didn't. They did not care . Be very careful booking them for a room block or anything for a group of people or anything business related. I would do my research thoroughly in that area if you have an event! I would book another hotel to host your event. Holiday Inn ended up taking us in and were super accommodating & understanding down the road. So our clients got done that day. Thank you Holiday Inn. Beware of the Hilton Garden Inn Covington!!!

Upon arrival about 6:30 pm after a hard 9 hours of driving I had to knock on the wall to get someone to come to the front desk to check me in. There was no greeting, only a scowl as if I was troubling her when she finally appeared. There was no acknowledgement of my name or Marriott rewards status. Nothing. We got to our 3rd floor room and my key did not work. I went back down and got another. No apology. Went back up and that key did not work. Fortunately my wife's key did work and we got into the room. The room was ok except for the AC unit next to the bed which sounded like a 747 taking off every time it would start up. By then it was too late to change rooms and I had 0 confidence that the front desk person would be able to help us find another room. It was all an experience I hope to never repeat and I will avoid this property like the plague even though I travel through the area several times a year. Marriott definitely does not need angry employees serving customers, especially long term (over 40 years) loyal rewards members like me or anyone else.
