Diamond in the rough!! Worth the effort to stay here! I was very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Pros - nice accommodations, either new or recently renovated. See pics. I've stated in a lot of Holiday Inn hotels and this one is in the top 15% IMO. The bed is awesome!! Most comfortable mattress I had on a hotel for years. I crashed and slept like a baby. I've never understood why hotels have terrible beds. I mean the PRIMARY REASON people book hotels is for sleeping accommodations, right? This one made the right investment in good mattresses. Cons - Really only one, the train tracks. The tracks are about 150 feet from my room as I'm in the corner. A train passed about 10 pm and the entire building shook like a small earthquake. It is a very nice place. The room is clean and large. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly. And then I noticed that breakfast is $12.99 if you want it. I paid $154 thinking that we would be getting breakfast in the morning so it wasn't so bad. An extra $26 is not worth it. I do not plan to return. 237 dollars a night can't even get room service. We have to take towels down before we get new towels and we have to do our own room service. We put our trash out side our door last night and still out there to day at 4:00 o'clock . They need to step back up there game.. every other hotel we have stay in is back up and running just like before. They just don't want to pay extra people to work.. and We are top of IHG rewards for guess we live in hotels most of the year working .. my opinion don't stay at this one.. can even find where on there web site to write a review every one Supposedly writes. read more

The hotel is clean and modern looking with a good appearance for the price we paid $89.99. There is a train nearby which I thought would be a problem but I actually never heard anything. The hotel itself is located directly across the street from a Dillard's, JC Penney & several other stores. Wendy's & several other fast food restaurants nearby. A gas station is located about a half block away which was convenient. Just a heads up that there are a few "roundabouts" that we had to go through to get to this hotel which we found confusing and annoying. Although I would recommend this hotel, I did not feel entirely safe in this town. read more

We just stayed 3 nights, it was spotless clean! The General Manager, staff from check-in, restaurant and housekeeping could not have been more hospitable and accommodating! I wanted to be very impressed with this hotel but that just wasn't the case. The check in was painless and the person working the desk was very helpful and friendly. However, once I arrived in my room, I noticed a dirty coffee cup sitting on the table, coffee tray trash still on the tray, and open/used shampoo in the bathroom. Obviously this room had a very poor cleaning before my arrival. The front desk took care of the issue quickly though. Then, in the middle of the night, the fire alarm started going off. I realize that is not the hotels fault but it just added to my irritation. This morning I went to make a cup of coffee only to find there was also a used coffee pack in the maker. Pro: Good location Friendly staff Comfortable bed Good military discount Very good food in on site dining Hot showers with good pressure Con: Questionable cleaning Not worth full price room cost Overall: I would stay here again but only because of the very good military discount. The hotel appears to have been renov recently. Bed, linens, pillows all adequate. All pillows in room were fiberfill, and thou they had tags for soft and firm there wasn't any difference. Had mini fridge and microwave. Carpet seemed a bit musty could use a cleaning. Bathroom was clean, plenty water pressure, and okay w exception of water. It felt like too much water softener and couldn't feel like I rinsed clean. Like there was a film on me , even after shower. Breakfast separate price, maybe I should have ordered off of menu. They had a buffet that was not too great. Taste meats , but scrambled eggs were a bit rubbery. Coffee was awful and tasted like it had been sitting out for over a day, it was not drinkable . Luckily the in room coffee was good when I made it with bottled water. Lobby areas were modern and overall this is probably the best hotel in the area. Staff was all friendly. read more

CONS...Was very disappointed in my extended stay. When I let the cleaning people in to clean they would take the towels and not replace all of them, didnt vacuum, didnt replace empty toilet paper, only took part of the trash...the trash by the 4th floor elevator has been there for days...the elevators are dirty as well as the 4th floor carpet. Not sure if or when the pool is cleaned but it desparately needs it. Hotel was hard to get to...lots of complaints regarding location. Finding parking can be challenging. PROS: Lobby is clean...desk staff are friendly. 4 out of 5 stars on bathroom cleaning. Lots of things to walk to...I enjoy the train that goes by alot. For the time and money spent ... it was...OK. If I had to do it again, I would look around. For a one or two nighter, it was acceptable. I am not a hotel snob...I dont get this opportunity often but it was safer and cleaner than the last place we were in. read more

We were told there was parking for uhaul and truck and trailer! We were blocked in by double and triple parked cars! The room was very dirty a white substance that looked like a splatter of sperm was on the bench in the room. There was huge amounts of missing grout in the bathroom and the tub did not drain. It was disgusting. Not to mention the elevator had fingerprints all over it even on the ceiling. The carpet in the rooms and common areas is old and stained very gross! The pool was open but not the restaurant! Patrons were allowed to congregate in common areas without masks and were very loud. If you are going to be open at least be consistent. If the pool is open the why not the restaurant? If patrons are allowed to congregate with no mask in common area why do you have to wear one to check in? If you have two pails with sanitized in dirty pens why are there no sanitized pens in the sanitized pail? Not to mention if you go to that length to have pails for sanitized and dirty pens why are your carpets, elevators and rooms not also sanitary and clean? It was the worst holiday inn we have ever stayed at. It is out dated and needs a complete remodel! I would be embarrassed if I were the owner! The holiday inn chain defiantly needs to send in a shopper and make them do upgrades to adhere to their standards. It is disgraceful to the Holiday Inn chain! You don't see Holiday Inns much anymore, just their Holiday Inn Express cousins... This Holiday Inn was great value for the money. The on site restaurant had some amazing food. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh. I will definitely stay here when on my next meeting in Hammond. read more

The location of this hotel is what makes it stand out. It is right across the street from the square with many shops and restaurants. The staff is always very friendly. There is a restaurant/bar onsite with pretty good food. The rooms are clean and modern. The gym is a bit small with just a few machines but it gets the job done! read more

My husband and I got married in Ponchatoula and stayed at the Holiday Inn along with many of our friends and family. It was a great experience and met all of our expectations for a hotel for the stay. What was really incredible about them was when my father-in-law called to setup our hotel block for wedding guests, they offered to keep the bar open later that day (as they usually closed up at 10) and to bring out small party refreshments (finger sandwiches, party meatballs, chips and queso, chicken fingers) so we could have a small after party when we all returned! It was executed perfectly and it was one of our absolute favorite things we had at our wedding, getting to relax and still spend time with all of our loved ones in our hotel and having everyone be able to continue to eat and drink in a more relaxed environment. My father-in-law coordinated this all with Stacy Agnew and he had great things to say about his experience with them! read more

Stayed two nights, 7/10 and 7/11. Loud group of people smoking weed in the stairwell next to my room. Called to tell the front desk I'm pregnant and can't be around smoke, got told that other people had complained too but when the person at the front desk had come to check on it, he didn't smell anything. People continued smoking weed outside directly under my window and pulled up multiple cars playing loud music out of their windows. All this was at 11:50pm/midnight. I've never left a negative complaint on a website before, and normally stuff like this doesn't bother me. But in the current health climate and being pregnant I feel like I have the right to a safe hotel room should I need one, especially when a nonsmoking room is booked. read more

I was meeting a friend of mine and his wife in Hammond for a weekend of college football. My friends were driving in from Florida, and I was driving in from Texas. I made the reservation and put my friend's name on the reservation just in case they arrived before I did and wanted to check in first. They arrived into Hammond around 1:00pm on Friday, September 23rd and stopped by the hotel to see if our room was ready. I think it was Amanda (my friend later told me the name of the young lady they spoke with) who was working the front desk when they arrived, communicated to them that the room was not ready, but should be ready "no later than 2:00 (pm)". My friend left his phone number and asked that they call him when the room was ready. I spoke to my friend on my way into Hammond and they decided to get a bite to eat at a restaurant, so I just decided to meet them there. We stayed at the restaurant until around 4:00pm and then decided to head back to the hotel, thinking our room should be ready by now. When we arrived back to the hotel, Joshua was working the front desk (he also appeared to be the Manager on Duty this evening because his name was on the MOD plaque ) and informed us our room was not yet ready, and offered us to go sit down in the lobby seating area until it would be. Joshua told us about the little pantry just off of the front desk which had food items and drinks. As we started to walk off, jokingly I asked if the pantry contained any beer? Well apparently Joshua did not approve of this because as we walked off, my buddy told me that he saw Joshua roll his eyes at my comments. After sitting for a few moments, I went back to the front desk to inquire to Joshua if breakfast was included in our rate. Joshua informed me that it was not, so I asked since we were inconvenienced on having to wait on our room, if he could do something for us to which he provided me with a breakfast coupon / voucher. I asked if the three of us could eat on this and he informed me that it was a value of around $20. We go sit in the waiting area until Joshua told us that our room was ready. We arrive to our room (room # 225) and walk-in only to notice that it looked NOTHING like the room I booked on the internet. I had reserved a "suite" with two beds and a pull-out couch, and the suite that was depicted on the internet CLEARLY showed a sitting area with a door connected to the bedroom (which had two beds in it). When we arrived to our room, (which by the way, my key did not work), we walked in and noticed the pull-out couch and the two beds, but no second or additional room. So I called down to Joshua and asked if this indeed was a suite to which he responded "yes." Since we were late to check-in, we had to get ready to meet some friends out for dinner. My buddy informed his wife and I following his shower, for us to be careful when taking a shower because the bottom of the tub was very slippery. Once we were ready to head out to dinner, we stopped by the front desk and my buddy's wife asked Joshua if we could get a mat that we could lay on the floor of the tub. She asked that they just hold it at the desk and we will pick it up on our way back in from dinner, that we didn't want anyone going into our room. Well, once we arrived back to the hotel from dinner, Joshua explained to my friend's wife that the situation was resolved. Meaning, they entered our room when asked not to!! We get back to our room and noticed that their solution to our problem was the placement of towels on the tub floor. Not a plastic mat, TOWELS!!! I don't recall that we did or said anything that evening, we were tired from dinner and just went to bed. The next day (Saturday) was rather busy for us so we were out and about early from the hotel. About mid-day, I still was not satisfied with the explanation that I had received about our rooming being a suite, so I called down to the desk and spoke with Amanda. I asked Amanda was classified our room as a "suite" and the response I received was that it was larger (in square footage) than their other rooms. Once we had completed everything that we had planned on doing that day, we arrived back to our hotel around 9:30pm that evening. My friend's wife decided to go downstairs to the desk and discuss all of the challenges that we experienced with the Manager on Duty who was Jacob. One of the things they discussed was our "suite" to which I believe Jacob informed her that they (IHG) was working with their website on updating pictures of their guest rooms. Additionally, Jacob agreed that the hotel staff should not have entered our room when we specifically asked them not to. After speaking with Jacob for quite some time, Jacob communicated to my friend's wife that he would not charge us for our second night. I rather enjoyed my stay here at Holiday Inn Northshore. My room was clean, had adequate supplies, coffee, towels, temperature, but I did notice that it is a bit noisier that other places. I could hear the people upstairs from me pounding/plodding across their room all night and morning. The bed was comfortable, pillows were good as well. I grade heavily on plenty of hot water in the morning too - so that was definitely a plus! The lobby has a modern look and feel to it and the staff is helpful and friendly. They were very accommodating when we needed to check in early because we had a business meeting to prepare for. read more

What a beautiful hotel!! I was checked-in by Nancy (beautiful and friendly - double whammy!) and met Chad, the General Manager (very professional and great to talk to) and was extremely impressed. This is a fairly new hotel and is located about a mile from the historic downtown area. We were upgraded to a suite because of Priority Club. The flat panel tv's were really cool and the bedding was very comfortable. The bar was nice also Brady's was recommended and was your typical fun Irish Pub. The women are beautiful so my wife wasn't happy but it was a great place. I'll be back! read more

I was informed that the only "recommended" hotel in Hammond was the new Holiday Inn Express. Based on some previously bad experiences, I am down for recommendations. So I booked my coworker and I at this hotel. The rooms were nice and felt new. The bathrooms were a little tight, and I felt a little confined when I was trying to get ready in the morning, and the pillows were small, which I didn't like, but otherwise I was a happy camper. The people at the front desk were very nice and helpful, and the Wi-Fi seemed to work well. I did not see a pool, but I did not really explore that much, so I may have just missed it. I heard that the bar was the happening place, but I didn't see anyone at it. They did not have a free breakfast selection, but that is ok since I don't generally get to partake in the breakfasts anyway. The hotel is off the main road behind essentially a strip mall, and there is not a lot of immediate parking. The area doesn't seem to have much going on, but there was a Target nearby, which always makes me happy. Is that weird?? They had a selection of snacks for purchase, and there were some fast food restaurants nearby. Hammond is a small city, and I didn't see a lot going on, but I was happy to have a place to stay that I wasn't afraid was going to have creatures attacking me during the night. The only downside was that my wake up call never happened, but my phone and the in-room alarm clock were both sufficient. I would definitely stay at this Holiday Inn Express again. read more
