Fries were plentiful and well cooked, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The Chicken on a Stick included pickles, onions, bell pepper, jalapeno, and I think some potato slices? Beautifully fried, nice appearance and plenty of food... but not seasoned well. The ranch dipping sauce was welcome to add some flavor, but I was wishing it wasn't needed. What a gem! Delicious, hot food: fried rabbit, crisp sweet potato fries, Mac and coleslaw salads, tasty fried catfish and okra, and probably one of the best Bacon Cheeseburgers and solid Arnold Palmer I've had in recent memory. Ordered the Big Momma burger and it was great. The size, the flavor, the toppings made it feel like a real burger, like something your uncle would cook for you on Fourth of July plus the toppings! My potato salad though was pretty small for a side (4oz$ though it was less than $2. It wasn't seasoned well, but I just dashed some salt and pepper on it at home and it was good. The inside has a crew of 3-5 ladies doing the hard work. The reputation of this place holds up, I will be coming back way more often. Affordable, authentic southern burgers are here. This is what corporate fast food wishes it could be. I only wish the building had some more flare to compliment the food. The food was delicious and the staff were super friendly, helpful, and patient (we had a hard time deciding!) The fried rabbit is a must. You must love a place like this. Housed in an old ice cream shop, these guys have your basic drive-thru drive-up fare add Rabbit. Yep. Rabbit. Tastes like dark meat chicken. These guys put a nice crisp on it. I had a sample but as most of my Yelp friends know I can't say no to a burger, especially a PoBoy burger spitting distance from Louisiana. I love this place and I'm ashamed to say it took me so long to try it. I lived in Columbia for 11 years before I tried it because I'm not a fan of rabbit meat. This place is a Diamond in the Rough!! You will not be disappointed with any menu you choose to eat. But if you ever decide to bring an extra appetite with you then I highly recommend getting the Big Momma Burger (with double Patty). The burger is fresh and cooked to order, be patient because you can't rush perfection. It's no longer than a 10 minute wait to get it the Big Momma Burger fresh off the grill and straight into your belly. It's seasoned to perfection and topped with fried Jalepenos, bacon, cheese and you can do like I do and get extra rabbit sauce on the side for dipping your burger or fries in. I live about 25 minutes away from the restaurant but I have been several times just to enjoy the Big Momma Burger. If you live in the Pine Belt Area you should definitely give the Southern Fried Rabbit a visit, you won't be disappointed!! read more

We reviewed this place a couple of years ago-not sure what happened to it-but it has drastically changed since then. We were regulars when we were in town, at least twice per month. The burgers were handmade and great but about a year ago we noticed the burger patties were mushy and tasted bland. We asked and they said "always 100% beef". We stopped going as often in hopes it was a situation where they ran out of beef and replaced it with the preformed patties as we could clearly see the telltale scalloped edges. They continued to claim 100% beef but were tight lipped as to any other info. Unfortunately this place has gone the way of most other burger joints to keep cost down and profit up..frozen mush 'beef'. Just go on down the road and look for the next little burger place..they still handmade their patties daily. read more

We ate there yesterday and it's soooo good. This is what a cheeseburger is Supposed to taste like. One order of fries feeds both me and my husband due to the enormous size and they are cooked until they're crunchy......also the way it's supposed to be...the lady at the counter was very nice, friendly in fact! Had hamburger and fries which were very good and reminded me of the hamburgers from Top's Fried Chicken down in Buras, LA but is no longer there because of hurricane Katrina. I did not get the fried rabbit but I will do the next time I visit. A very friendly and family run place. read more
