In the restaurant business, we all have a switch: once the doors open, it flips. Until then, you're seeing people exactly as they are. This team is genuine. Hands down. Yes, I know, I'm technically here for a king cake. Standing in line for a king cake from a famous fried chicken company almost feels satirical. But watching the entire team sit down together for a meal an hour before service told me everything I needed to know about the leadership and the values of this company. People matter here. You can see why the sandwiches are as good as they are. You can feel why the king cake is worth the wait. This team operates like a family; kind to one another, intentional, and connected. The food is made with care because the people are cared for. I'm not here to review the food (which is phenomenal) or the king cake. I'm here to review the brand. This is the kind of business we should be proud to support as a community. Keep it up.

I also like that they feature a daily special that isn't on the regular menu--it adds a nice element of variety. Everything is cooked to order, which is definitely a plus. Just keep in mind that most of the menu is fried, so this isn't the place to go if you're looking for a particularly healthy meal.

When I looked in Google and saw that they were open on Sunday I decided that I was taking him there. You come in and it is a down home feeling. You have to lay before you eat, not a big deal and for me and my husband it was about $30. They had fried and baked chicken, mashed potatoes, lime beans, black eyed peas, tomatoes and okra, and of course fried green tomatoes. The reviews we had seen had mentioned that item as being great and my husband can attest to the fact that they are delicious!!! The service was good and the people all checked up on us and made sure our drinks were filled and plates cleared away. We talked to one of the servers and they talked about how they were open on Sunday through Friday for lunch but closed and reopened on Friday nights for a seafood buffet. My husband and I looked at each other and went "Yes"! We will DEFINITELY be back to eat some more of their cooking. The menu is listed daily on their Facebook page so head over there to like and follow them to see what's for lunch everyday!

There were about a dozen main course items to choose from, mostly fried. There was enough items to make a full, non-fried meal. Two desserts to enjoy, both excellent. Never had an empty glass. Do note, we paid in advance; therefore, cash is needed at the end for a tip.

When I lived in the area, we would go at least one Friday or Saturday a month. Since it was the first Friday of Lent, we decided to make the trek and looked forward to what we have always thought was the best catfish in the area. We both ordered the fried catfish as it has always been our usual. When the server placed it on the table, I mentioned that it looked different but maybe they are using a new fish fry mix. So I put some of the fish on my plate with some of their delicious coleslaw and hush puppies. When I picked up the fish, it was as if I could barely squeeze it and oil would come flowing out of the fish. So I took the napkin and tried soaking some of it off and tasted it. It wasn't bad fish but the taste was nothing but oily. I couldn't eat any more of the fish so I ate the Cole slaw, a few of the fries and the hush puppies. My husband ate more of the fish after soaking up the grease but I just couldn't. The only thing I could think was maybe it was old grease but we got there 15 minutes after they opened. Then I thought maybe the grease wasn't hot enough when they put the fish in because that would definitely cause the fish to be greasy. But it didn't taste good either. I did not bring this up to the server only because I didn't want to make a scene. Hopefully someone else brought it to their attention. Even though he ate some of the fish, we were both very disappointed and probably will not return.

This is perfectly reasonable for peak meal-time at a popular restaurant. However, the hostess also said we could seat ourselves at the bar and dine there if we wished. We did this and it was a great option. The food was good. The service was wonderful. The atmosphere was casual and bright and welcoming. There were many large family groups, lots of kids, and all of the staff I saw were very friendly. Overall we really enjoyed it and were glad we stopped.

It has been a long time since we have had dinner here since the food was not good the last two times we had visited. We used to go all the time but the food just wasn't that good. We were greeted with a warm welcome and our waitress was wonderful. They were know for their thin catfish unfortunately they have lost their mojo. The fish tasted of just batter. Our waitress handled our party of 14 like a pro. Most of the food came out in a timely manner they were not busy. Our fish came out but the rest of the seafood platter was absent. When it did come out it was cool. Missing hush puppies which we had to ask for. The seafood platter came with two pieces of fish 6 shrimp 4 oysters , large stuff crab , fries and coleslaw. The fish was mushy, the shrimp and oysters were ok the stuff crab was very large but with lots of bread crumbs and green onions. Not our favorite. The place is beautiful. The owners have really worked hard and the decor is very nice. The focus is not on the food like the family that had opened the place. If you are on I55 stop in you will enjoy the beauty of the drive and their dock is great.

The Sunday Brunch Buffet offered an impressive variety, and everything we tried was delicious, especially the tender ribs, flavorful brisket, and the perfectly chargrilled oysters. With live jazz and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, the whole experience felt distinctly Louisiana in the best way. Friendly service, great food, and a beautiful setting made this a brunch we'll gladly return to.

For reference I've had acme, Dragos, superior seafood, New Orleans food and spirits. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly fried with boiled shrimp and a cucumber salad and remolaude on top. WOW! The shrimp were a party in my mouth. The bread pudding was also arguably the best in the area. Slightly firm, but incredibly moist, topped with cream and apple slices. Also, Natalie went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We'll go back often and ask for her. I do also appreciate restaurants were it seems there are working together to and sure customers have what they need The only downside was the bar tender didn't offer smiles. She had a very firm and unwelcoming look that didn't seem to go with the rest of the culture.
