On our visit to Poplarville last week, our family absolutely loved this wonderful cafe. There were so many delicious-looking choices on the menu, we had a difficult time narrowing it down to just one. Each of us decided to order a different item so we could share and enjoy all of them. Our daughter got the Reuben. My husband got the Avocado Chicken salad and I got the Crunch Pop Panini and potato soup. Everything tasted amazing! We were so full we had to forego all of the delectable desserts in the showcase. I told the wonderful owner and her staff that we were coming back to Poplarville in a week and that there was no doubt in our minds where we would go for lunch. We are planning on being there when she opens tomorrow, but this time we will order one of her impressive desserts, too! read more

I wasn't quite sure about driving 2 miles off the interstate to come try this one out but the 5 reviews were so positive and the hungry kids in the car are already driving me nuts so we decided to go for it. We arrived and the restaurant is literally a house and so we thought, ahhh... home cooking right up! We walked in and it was spacious inside. The benches/chairs made out of wood pallets is interesting. The lady at the counter said the printed menu is on the wall and there's a dry erase board with the day's special. I went for the chicken pot pie soup; hubby got the lunch special (half broccoli cheddar soup and half buffalo chicken sandwich); older kiddo got the grilled chicken sandwich; and littler one got the ultimate grilled cheese. Everything is just what home cooking should taste like. Very simple but pleasing. I love that they don't over-season the food. I don't like overly salty food anyway so this is perfect. Salt and pepper is provided so y'all have an option to adjust the flavor to your liking. We spoke to the owner before we left and told her I found her on yelp. She said she hasn't even been able to check it. She doesn't yelp and so I told her I'm a yelper. This is yet again another big reason why I rely heavily on yelp reviews because business owners really have no control over who places them on the yelp radar. Anyway, told her she's had 5 stars so far from 5 other yelpers (I'd be the 6th one)! She gave the boys free chocolates for the road and we wished her more success this coming new year! Just stopped by for a quick lunch while driving through. We've been on the road for 7 weeks and 7k miles and it was hands down the best little lunch cafe we've hit, prompting a review. 1/2 the signature pimento cheese panini with the tomato salad and an iced tea, outside on the porch - wonderful! Walking up to the restaurant is not too impressive., but it's O.K. For a small rural community cafe. The parking lot is washed out gravel. The front is a wooden deck, in need of staining, and the house that the business resides in could use cleaning and a coat of paint. Some well-placed vegetation would probably help the "natural" look. But, you go there for the food and not the fancy architecture I guess. You walk into a somewhat eclectic, open, room. Order your food at the counter. One of the very nice, polite, helpful servers brings your food out to your table. Very nice servers. All of the tables and chairs are mis-matched, which adds a unique flavor to the openness of the eating area. Eating outside under an umbrella would be more attractive with less heat and fewer bugs. Although, not in the least bit cozy, my wife thought it cute. The booth seating's made from pallets - quite unique! The menus is mostly sandwiches, salads, and soups. I had the Ruben and onion soup, and my wife chicken salad and onion soup. The onion soup was on "special" today. The half sandwiches were quite good. Mine was quite flavorful with a good portion of meat and some very good sauerkraut. It tasted better than it looked - and it didn't look bad at all. My wife's didn't seem too adorned with anything, other than lettuce, but was also quite good. The onion soups were spilled on both plates by the time the server had walked out and placed them on the table. But, I didn't complain. So, we ended up with soggy sandwiches (but, it did add a little additional flavor). The onions were good and the croutons were crunchy to the last sip of soup. But it wasn't hot enough to melt the shredded cheese. Still, it had good flavor. Wasn't a bad experience. It was a good, inexpensive, simple, lunch. Would I go again? Yes...... very nice people and the price for both of us was less than a $20 dollar bill, and I want to try more of their sandwiches and salads. Is it as the name says "Eclectic"? I love the food at Eclectic Cafe. It's exactly what's promised "healthy-ish". Really, it is one of the best places we have in Poplarville to make healthful choices. I love their pimento and cheese panini on gluten free bread, but my first go to is usually the Trinity salad. You won't go wrong with any choice. It's very nice and pretty on the outside and inside it's like a nice cafe, family friendly. The lady who took my order was very sweet and patient because this was my first time here. I got the 1/2 club panini and the chicken pot pie soup. They have an option on the menu to where you can customize your own panini which is what I'll do next time. The club panini is the best panini I've ever had!!!! I like how the is nice and crispy but still golden brown and it's just the right ratio of bread to stuffings. The chicken pot pie soup is good, I will have to add more salt to it but it's good and this is my first time hearing about it. I will be back while down here!!!! read more

Dropped in after a yoga class, and tried the Veggie Panini. The "Let us Veg". What a nice light lunch option in what is essentially a healthy food desert. The Red vine vinegar dressing was pretty tight as well! read more

Great little spot in Poplarville! Tish is the personification of southern hospitality, which you'll pick up on as soon as you approach the counter. Our favorites here are the chicken salad sandwich and buffalo chicken sandwich on sourdough bread. Each day a different sandwich and soup are featured. (The pesto chicken and reuben sandwiches are excellent as well!) One of only a couple places in town where you'll leave satisfied AND refreshed. :) read more

Traveling through south Mississippi last week and I finally got to visit the infamous Eclectic Cafe. Let me just tell you people, this as good as it gets; and I'm not just talking about the food (which was incredible), but the atmosphere is pure Mississippi delight. Owner/Operator/Chef Extraordinaire, Latisha, is a woman of MANY hats, but she executes each role she takes on flawlessly. We arrived for a late lunch, around 2:30p, and after already having a rush at noon, Latisha was still FULL of energy. She welcomed us, as well as each guest that entered after with a huge smile and plenty of friendly suggestions for menu selection. After taking the orders, she quickly moved right along to the grill and prepared the absolutely most amazing Ultimate Grilled Cheese I've ever put in my mouth. Seriously, I was on the verge of licking my plate when I finished. Eclectic Cafe is a rare gem, the kind of place of you take your time to search for online when your traveling from out of town. It isn't just lunch, Latisha makes it a full blown experience, and I can assure you whether you're a Poplarville native, or an out-of-towner, you'll be back to Eclectic Cafe much more than once. read more
