Came in after digging around for diamonds. Took a minute to be told to sit anywhere, so we stood at the front waiting to be acknowledged. Took a back corner table and was immediately swarmed by flies. Menus were greasy to the touch. Relocated ourselves to a different table, waitress commented the fly table was one guests weren't supposed to sit at for meals. Food was decent, but not entirely in house made. Chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, and salisbury steak all had a "heat&eat" vibe. Okra wasn't breaded in house. Daughter's canned green beans had a large stem in the bowl. I asked the cashier at the store if there was a local restaurant with good food and she sent me to the right place. Outstanding Southern cuisine. The patty melt was the best I ever had and it came with tater tots that were crisp and hot. The sweet tea was fresh. The service was fantastic. The decor was rustic Southern. The prices were better than reasonable. They had the most extensive list of fried pies I've ever seen but I was too full to get one. Five stars plus in my book! read more

We came here after spending some time at the Crater of Diamonds State Park. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. You seat yourself and when we sat down the waitress got to us immediately and took our drink order. Throughout our time the service was top notch and they checked in with us frequently. The appetizer of chili cheese fries was fantastic! My burger was also very good. The burger had jalapeños, pepperjack cheese, lettuce, and mayo on it. The tater tots were not the best though. The price was a little high but I can understand as it is a very small town. I would definitely visit this establishment again if we were to return to the area! read more

Thought we would enjoy a local meal before we visited Crater of Diamonds State Park. Service was slow. Waitstaff argued about tickets and table numbers. Tuna sandwich was mostly mayo with small amounts of tuna and egg. Steak sandwich overcooked. The vegetarian options are a black bean burger, a quesadilla with veggies, and salad. The decor is a mix of crosses, guns, wagon wheels and animal heads hanging on the wall. Our first day in Murfreesboro and we stopped in for a late lunch / early dinner. There's nothing special about the diner. It's not really decorated but has plenty of tables and chairs for guests so it's fine for what it is. There were no other guests when we were there. The menu gives lots of choices so we had quite a variety to choose from. Husband ordered the cheese quesadillas. They were definitely freshly cooked, warm and very good. I opted for the daily special. It was two pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and banana pudding for the dessert. Obviously, the food was not fresh cooked as it arrived at the table within 5 minutes. The potatoes were cold, not lukewarm but cold. Within about 2 minutes I received a new plate of potatoes. I'm guessing there's a great microwave back there but could be wrong. The beans were good and so was the dessert. However, the chicken was awful. The outside breading was so thick I had trouble peeling it off to get to the chicken meat. The wing was not edible. We may try it again when our friends arrive in town and give it another chance for something else on the menu but think we'll ask if the item we order is freshly prepared first. There aren't a lot of choices in Murfreesboro. The servers were friendly and efficient. read more

We went to Southern Dine on New Years Day (also our anniversary). They were clearly busy with takeout orders but the waitress was quite attentive. She even gave us a couple packs of crackers to keep our baby happy until the food came. The food was delicious. I got the Watt's Electric Burger, like it comes; with a side of onion rings. Sid got the a Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. They forgot his bacon, but they fixed it promptly and even gave him extra. The cook came out to apologize to us. We plan to eat there again before our trip is over, but even if we don't, the experience was a wonderful memory for our anniversary trip!! read more

Both locals pointed us toward Southern Dine. We rolled up and found a down home restaurant with a menu that provided good basic food. We were waited on by a very friendly and helpful waitress named Shea. I ordered the Philly Steak sandwich with half fries and half onion rings. My friend got s hamburger with Cajun fries. The burger was very large and looked really good. My Philly was great. In review: Southern Dine is Mighty Fine! We called in breakfast to go that morning and it was pretty good, so later that evening based on the reviews we ate there for dinner. BAD mistake we ordered fried pickles and cheese sticks I should have ran then they were SO greasy the ranch they gave was great though. My son ordered the chicken sandwich that was good and my husband the fired chicken and mashed potatoes which he said was good. The rib eye I ordered for my daughter and I for one was not medium it was well done and FULL of fat hardly any meat. It was INCREDIBLY over seasoned with salt I took one bite and sent it back. The waitress were kind just VERY busy with call in orders we had to chase them down for things.
